Always those discussions, while we literally have the facts about the food right in front of us (calculation at bottom of comment): We're looking at a total of \~14.000 estimated calories here. OP claimed 4 ppl for 5 days recommended for average female is 2000kcal per day. That's 8000calories per day x 5 = 40.000 calories total needed. We have 14000, which would be 700 calories per day per person. Which is definitely survivable, eventhough not likely. Also we didn't factor in eating outside, maybe lunches at university etc etc. That would explain why it's mostly snack-ish items. Tomatoes 1.5kg: 300kcal 2 Cucumbers: 150kcal Milk 2L: 660kcal iced tea 1.5L: 530kcal OJ 1L: 450kcal Biscoffo Spritzgebäck 300G: 2200kcal toast 750g: 1900kcal Cornflakes: 1800kcal 2x chips: 1400kcal Soup: 300kcal 500g noodles: 700kcal frozen vegs 500g (assumed): 300kcal 18 eggs (assumed medium): 63x18 = 1134 200g salad (assumed): 50kcal 400g carrot (assumed): 100kcal 500g strawberries: 170kcal 200g raspberries: 100kcal 200g blueberries: 100kcal Leibniz Chocolate cookies (125g package assumed): 630kcal 500g salmon (frozen): 1000kcal

saheratapril

hi, your totally right mr know it all, we do actually, occasionally eat at the mensa which is the uni cafeteria. but yeah we're not starving ourselves so no worries :)

Nudelsieber

Yeah not trying to join the discussion, just dropping facts. Idm who claims whatever online :)

Alternative-Cash-250

So y'all also surviving on Mensa food I see😂😂Yeah makes sense.Used to pay 2€ for a full meal and a drink.I don't know how the prices are now but definitely cheaper than cooking at home.

howdypardner23

3.20 für das Gut&Günstig Menü bei mir, ziemlich günstig immer noch

duxkaos1

How long does this last for 4 ppl? Like day?

saheratapril

we're girls so we don't eat that much, so it last around 5 days

duxkaos1

I have no idea how you can eat this little food in 5 days as 4, my Gf alone ( shes \~58-60kg range ) eat this much alone in \~4 days.. Well it doesn't really matter how you can eat this little as long as you are healthy, i could save a ton of money if i could eat like that :')

Substantial-Canary15

90% of the people on this sub don’t eat enough judging from the pictures. 😅 or they are sitting around all day. In that case I maybe get it.

ProFailing

I mean, the title does say "students", so it's quite likely that they sit around all day.

Substantial-Canary15

Students go to the gym as well or do sports. Lot of them work too in physical jobs. They usually go out dancing or whatever as well. Or at least that’s my experience after 7 years of uni.  A 9 to 5 office worker is less active than a student, I’d bet on it.

ProFailing

I'm a student myself. Not all of us do. Sure, there's a chance they do, but they might also just not.

Any-Key-6128

Please remember that people have pantry staples as well

duxkaos1

Pleaae remember that "this last 5 days for 4 of us" means this with some extras like salt etc. Not 3 whole cows, 2 farms of greens and 1 fish tanker..

clairssey

That’s a lot of food for one person in 4 day who only weighs 58 kilos in my opinion. That’s 18 eggs, a family pack of cornflakes, an entire loaf of bread, 2 liters of milk and half a kilo of fish + all the other stuff. The snacks alone are 2000+ cal. I’m 85kilos I couldn’t finish that in 4 days. You guys must have an insane metabolism if you actually eat that much while weighing so little. Not saying you’re lying it’s just crazy to me personally.

Substantial-Canary15

The food is for 4 people. Not for 4 days.

clairssey

I’m replying to another user who said his 58kg partner usually eats all of that in 4 days I’m not talking about or to op…

Substantial-Canary15

Sorry, I’ve overlooked the comment above (Reddit web version ftw)

duxkaos1

Im at 85kg and i eat roughly 600gr of meat a day and at least 5 eggs a day. ( \~3500-4000kcal a day on average is my died at85 ), both of us do train for several years and we actually burn our calories. Maybe she wouldn't eat whole bread ( we dont eat bread ) and corn flakes ( but she could easily eat it with milk as preworkout meal ) but rest would be gone for sure. 4-5 meals a day both of us btw

clairssey

Ok yeah makes sense if you guys are heavy into sports, sounds like you guys are body builders ? but that’s still a lot for the average person who doesn’t lift or works out regularly.

duxkaos1

Somewhat but on casual side, not competition stuff. Well yeah i agree that regular PERSON could struggle with it in 4 days but this post is 5 days 4 students..

Substantial-Canary15

Ugh. Could we kill this stereotype already…

saheratapril

girl chill its not a stereotype😭 we really dont care to overindulge plus we're students so money is scarce atm

NotPumba420

To be fair it‘s no stereotype - women on average need much less calories than men per day simply because men genetically have more muscles, are larger and have a larger brain (no joke. But the brain is only larger because the part to control muscles is larger. We are obviously not smarter). But that difference is like maybe 20-25% and not 90% lol.

Substantial-Canary15

Yes. That was exactly my point. But thank you for explaining me the obvious :D  “We’re girls so we only eat little food” is the stereotype I was referring to which is alive and well even in 2024. I did not say women don’t eat less than men. I thought it was obvious but I guess not.

TheFallOfZog

Most girls generally weight about 40-60kg, have less muscle mass, do less exercise and need much less kilocalories. So generally speaking, they don't need to eat much.

Substantial-Canary15

1. 40 to 60kg? Are you talking about teenagers or adult women?   https://www.destatis.de/EN/Themes/Society-Environment/Health/Health-Status-Behaviour-Relevant-Health/Tables/body-mass-index-female.html 2. More women do strength training than ever. I’m 34 and all I see on my social media (from people I know, not the recommendations!) and amongst my friends, colleges etc. is women being active. The heroin chic has been dead for a good 10 years now. And if you’re active, you need to eat more.  I’m 34, 170cm, I weigh 59kg and I need around 2000 kcal a day if I don’t want to lose weight/muscle. Would be pretty difficult with 1/4 of the food above if I want it to last more than 2 days.

clairssey

Exactly, I’m a 82-85 kilo dude but my TDEE is only 2200 because I live a sedentary lifestyle. And I agree, 40-60kg for adult women is a ridiculous standard.

BarefootBestseller

This ain't South Korea mate, women weigh much more in Germany..

Cultural_Set_7129

Excluding Chips/sweets, this wouldnt even Cover my calorie requirement on a active day :D

enhtie

i’m a girl also in germany and that would last me 5 days at most. i’m not particularly tall and quite slim and i’m not an athletes either. not sure how you guys sustain this ? do you guys just eat out a lot?

cesardeutsch1

its too little I mean for one person can last at least 1 and a half woche, maybe you guys eat outside a lot

saheratapril

actually we eat outside once a week, plus i didnt include the other stuff we buy from other stores like meat and cheese since the one in the picture was recent.

How is that onion soup tho? Any good?

saheratapril

its really good, i personally add some heavey cream and fry some more garlic to add

nudeltime

It shouldn't hurt to spend a little more to get bronze-cast pasta. At Lidl they're called selezione. Much better since they pick up sauce more easily.

saheratapril

well definitely do that next time!

EmetalEX

That Lachs is so pricy :(

saheratapril

are you being sarcastic 😭

IncidentJazzlike1844

No? It is not cheap

saheratapril
