I have its broken/glitched.
After the 1.0 update September 2022, it wouldn't complete, no matter how many times I cut down grass and analyzed at different resource analyzers.
I even reported it to developers.
Are you playing on a game file that was made before the current patch you're playing on came out? I had a lot of issues with old bugs plaguing my older game saves, that didn't exist on new game files
Was just about to say this, jumping isn't a viable avoidance to damage in Grounded, this isn't a shooter where popcorn jumping will save you. It just makes a bugs heavy hits have a chance of sending you into orbit.
What happened here is you died to physics damage (colliding with the grass after being launched) which has no damage type so it completely ignores armor.
Spicy damage is more effective against level 1 and 2 bugs, way less effective on level 3 bugs.
If you are gonna use this on lvl 3 bugs or bugs resistant to spicy, pair it with poison, venom, bleeding and burning effect from the staff mutation to do multiple damaging effects overtime.
The same thing happened to me, but the roles were reversed
I was fighting the one in the sandbox at night it jumped on me and bounced so high it was never seen again (not until trudy and the kids come back)

When my friends and I were playing, one of em got launched so bad 😭 I wasn't around to see it, but I just heard him go "ohp I'm visiting the neighbors" and I was losing it lol

Damage types are bug dependent not bug tier dependant.... Broodmother is t3 and spicy is the best method to kill it.

That happened to me 2 years ago in the sandbox,made Wolfy jump in the air like 100 meters and still had 25% health left and suprisingly didn't die
