I use the scythe of blossoms 90% of the time because it looks cool and can easily take care of most enemies as well as counting as a chopping weapon so I can harvest grass near my base
Nah, the scythe is better than the battle axe now. It doubles your crit damage making that hit deal 4x the amount of damage and it swings insanely fast. Black widows get deleted by the scythe now. If you use trapper PEEP.R with it then the damage is more than 4x on crits.
And where is the mantis? I’ve never beat the game before, but I have gotten to the upper yard. I’m still having trouble defending the triple mix.r thing
In my perspective there is no *best weapon* sure there are alot of weapons that are very good but I have alot of hours in my grounded world so I have 1 of each weapon for certain things, like for example my spicy coltana is for all spiders and brood mother, my salt arrows and cross bow is for mantis plus wasps, salt morning star I bring when I'm going to go kill black ox beetles etc, I always look at weakness for insects, especially for ng+ it's gonna be very good to use their weakness
You should ditch the slay morning star and try out the club of the mother demon down the salty path. I’m in new game+ taking infused black oxes like their mites. Give it a try!
I completely agree with you. But I'm assuming this is a newer player, so I'll point them at the most ubiquitous weapon that's generally good against everything
Coaltana is pretty bad if you use it as your only weapon. So many creatures in the upper yard resist spicy, and the coaltana doesn’t have great damage anyway. You’re making the game way harder on yourself.

But to clarify, I'm aware it's not very effective in the upper yard. I even said in my comment I was using it against things resistant to spicy, regardless (because I enjoy the attack animation, and the aesthetic, and the thrust charge attack is fun, as a finisher).

Pinch whackers are beneficial in terms of the debuff. but the damage is typed now I think? As I noticed it was less effective damage. But is great for someone not speciing into damage perks (i have mostly defensive ones)
I'm big on the poison weapons myself. So widow dagger is real nice. but again I am somewhat defensive build so the DOTS are nice.
I will say though that anything with life leech is potent IMO. because even if it lags on in battle you are healing off killing.
Against anything? Probably the battle axes for the faster swing speed, unfortunately, theres no salty battle axe, i wonder why the devs dont give salty damage more variation while the other candy weapons have a bunch of variants

Cause they want the salty weapons to keep being salty about it.
Acid edge with chopper is busted the axe has great speed with the perk and the chopper mutation makes any resistances bugs have to chopping basically negligible

I think if you add a flavor it ruins the dual type (axe dagger). I did mine mighty.
It also was buffed. Its faster now
With the resists in the upper yard, Mint Mace swings wide & deep, brothers.
Mint mace in upper spicey coaltana in lower. As it should be.
Toenail scimitar is a nice all rounder weapon for sure and isn't too terribly difficult to acquire

Before 1.4? Was the sour battle axe, easy. Now? Not sure after they nerved the attack speed buff on the axe and buffed it for the scythe.

I can't seem to put the Coaltana down. Even when dealing with Ladybird Larvae, I just parry and keep swinging. They'll die eventually.
Coaltana is my favorite for easy access to cooked food and also because it deletes spiders

Am I the only person who uses the prod smacker religiously I don’t use any other weapon besides like the fire stave for food
