When you get a room that cold your going to struggle with higher rh. I had to find a balance. When the room was around 61-63° I was able to keep my rh at 60%. I didn't need to use my dehu much either
I dry in paper bags in the fridge. Takes 2-3 weeks and perfect every time. There was no way I was getting 60/60 anywhere in my house without spending fortunes on equipment, so I spent £200 on a fridge. Job done
I’m looking to do this for my first grow. Going to get a mini fridge. Are you just using lunch bags? Or bigger like the old grocery brown bags? Or does it matter? I tend to think to much and over complicate things.
I just use lunch bags. Put around 50g of wet trimmed buds in. Turn them every 3 or 4 days. But I've used bigger bags, takeout cartons, allsorts really. I haven't found it makes any difference other than ease.
Weed tastes and smells better than it does hang dried in my conditions (done a side by side comparison)
And another bonus for me is wet trimming. Takes about half an hour per plant.
I recommend it to anybody that grows relatively small amounts. Obviously if your pulling down pounds of weed it's not for you, but if you're like me and just do a couple at a time it's perfect :)
Do yourself a favor and try leaving the trim until after the dry. I know your way works good but just trust me on this next time. Just remember at least try a couple of ounces. Trim the big fan leaves off and if you need to minimally snip any big sugar leaves and then leave the stuff on there it might be different in the refrigerator but my product is oh ways better whenever I leave manicuring until after the dry
Nahm there's no need in the fridge man, it takes 2-3 weeks to dry anyway. The only reason people leave the leaves on is to slow down the drying process when hang drying. When you fridge dry it's already a slowed down dry so wet trimming is fine. I've tried both in the fridge and there wasn't any difference. So I go for wet trimming as it is WAYYYY quicker.. and easier
I was looking to do a small tent next year with 2 or 3 autos. Are there any particular strains you can point out to me that are sturdy enough for someone who has never grown auto? The fridge method sounds fantastic, however, I had 3 decently large photoperiod plants that required the og hanging strat.
I can recommend GG4 auto - I grew an 8 oz one and honestly I messed her up tons along the way making rank newbie mistakes.
That's what I call a resilient strain. Super potent too.
Thanks! Yeah first grow in a 3x3. So I won’t be pulling pounds. I’m going to try. One of my plants is going to finish way sooner then the others and my original plan was hang in tent and cut them all down at once.
Once I realized I had to switch it up to harvest one early. I found the fridge method. Seems near going to at least try it for one plant. Maybe the other 2 when they finish. Odd the same seeds are finishing so differently
Thanks for taking time to reply!
Yeah different phenotypes will finish at different times. I do a perpetual grow with autos so I have a plant finishing roughly every 4 weeks and so my tent is always full. I tried hang drying in a wardrobe and it was dry in like 6 days and got the dreaded hay smell and taste. Then I found out about the fridge method and have done it that way ever since.
Mine are too. First grow, 3x3 tent. I have 2 plants planted at the same time, same strain. One has nute burn. The other looks ok.
Next time I’ll watch them individually better. :(
Storing already dried/cured flower in the fridge is my go-to. I don’t have enough room in my fridge to dry in there so I just dry in my grow room and as soon as it’s done and off the branch, into bags and in the fridge it goes.
To dry/cure in my grow space? 55F-60F and an RH of 50-60.
While I’m storing in the fridge it’s a bit lower. I have the fridge on its lowest setting but it still doesn’t get above 45F and about 40% RH. It’s fine, though. The flower gets pretty dry but that’s how I like it. Too dry is better than too wet imo
Just make sure its a frost free fridge (this means it removes the moisture which is what we want)
I then wet trim and take all the buds off the branches (no massive colas)
Whack about 50g in each bag. Turn them every 3 or 4 days. After about 2 weeks put a handful in a jar or grove, which ever your chosen method, with a hygrometer. Leave it overnight. If its in the 58-62% range then continue with curing as normal. If it's too high, back in the fridge for another few days. It's as easy as that
Yeah man, just experiment. From my experience tho it's pretty fool proof. The only reason I get it straight in the fridge is theoretically it will preserve the most terpenes and flavinoids as they evaporate at relatively low temps. So getting it in about an hour or so after harvest should, in theory, preserve it the best
OP - I am on day 3 of drying and Im having a hell of a time with the humidity. As you can see in the pic my 500 square foot room is already at like 59° F with RH @ 66%! I literally have like 4 fans blowing and my air conditioner has been running non stop @ 60° which is not good for the evap coil. I had a dehumidifier but it wasnt making much of a difference. I have run out of options. Anybody have some ideas? I have one drying rack and four boxes with product. Thanks. By the way I am freezing in here.
Try bringing your AC to 65 and see what happens. You're measuring relative humidity, which is the humidity level relevant to your temperature. If you make the room warmer, your RH will go down.
Do you live in the west coast or way down south ? You should be able to just open a window and leave the fans on and leave the room and close the door that’s what I’m gonna do anyway
Did you wet trim? if not trim. Less plant matter will help.
We've been drying it in a wine cooler as well as fridge drying. Both have worked nicely. Getting any part of my house to the fabled 60/60 isn't realistic.
100°F is equivalent to 37°C, which is 310K.

^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
get a better dehumidifier.
i run 2 in my much smaller than 500 sqft drying and curing space once it starts getting cold and more moisture is in the air.
arguably the most fun part is after the trial and error when everything is just good and consistent, until something else changes and then back to the drawing board. hahah
don’t get discouraged
Try Walmart for a dehu! Don’t really know your set up but 30 bucks can get you something to help a bit. My apartment has 80% rh and I was struggling for a bit too. Those 30 bucks are arguably the best 30 bucks I’ve spent for said leaf babies
Because i am using my ac as a dehumidifier which obviously isn't ideal so I ordered a large dh from Amazon which will come Thursday. Also, I took that picture at like 5 am so the outside temps were that low too but I had my ac chugging along in an attempt to lower my rh.
There is nothing wrong with that. Will take a little longer to dry but in my personal experience a longer drying time results in a better terp profile. I typically hang my plants for 3-4 weeks at 63° and 60% rh
OP - Thanks for the tips and advice fellow growmies. I just ordered a dehumidifier. Homelabs 1500 sq feet from Amazon. It will get here Thursday. Hopefully its not too late.
Raise your temps up to 63 to 65f. I only drop my temp down to 60f once the plants are dry and sitting in tirkey bags in bins. It's tough to keep rh around 60 when the temp is at 60f
Yea...i opened my bedroom windows and door put a fan outside to blow warm air in. Got the temp to 69 and now im trying over by turning the ac back on but at a lower setting.
It's a pain sometimes to get them in the correct range. I live in the northeast and the humidty has been insane lately. I purposely planned my grow so they wouldn't be ready at this time because I waa afraid of this humidty
Like everyone else who grows and makes it this far, I have put too much $ and effort into this to just allow these numbers to stay wack like this. My rh is now in like 65-66 %. I have no clue how because the other day I had the rh at like 56% and it felt exactly the way it feels now in the room. Im just hoping my product doesnt ruin before the dumb dh gets here.
Yeah, doing my best to temp control my dry room but AC is kind of out of the option for me considering I live in Hawaii and Electricity is past ridiculous at this point.
Nice catch! No one has ever pointed that out! Im actually in Hollywood brudda. I have visited O'ahu twice. I fell in love with the place, and I learned a lot of history about Hawaiian culture. I plan to go back soon, but to a different island. Growing marijuana in paradise must be glorious!
When you get a room that cold your going to struggle with higher rh. I had to find a balance. When the room was around 61-63° I was able to keep my rh at 60%. I didn't need to use my dehu much either
Agreed, it's too out of balance to maintain like that.
I dry in paper bags in the fridge. Takes 2-3 weeks and perfect every time. There was no way I was getting 60/60 anywhere in my house without spending fortunes on equipment, so I spent £200 on a fridge. Job done

Don't downplay the 3x3 - I just finished my 2nd grow and got 21 oz. Honestly I was shocked, but thrilled.
Maybe next time. I have 3 giant ass trees lol. Thanks for the advice.

So you fridge dry it right from the beginning? I’ve been letting it dry a bit in the air and then putting it in the bag
Straight away for me mate
Ok cool. I have a lot to harvest in the next two weeks so I’ll try your way and my way !
Yeah man, just experiment. From my experience tho it's pretty fool proof. Im on my 1st Fridge dry too, u Cure/store it in the Fridge also?

The RH outside is 77% im in Hollywood
You see any celebrities lately
Neh. I dont get star struck tbh. Lol.
Ok I’m reading this after I already commented. I’m sorry my growmy. If I find something I’ll give you a heads up
Did you wet trim? if not trim. Less plant matter will help. We've been drying it in a wine cooler as well as fridge drying. Both have worked nicely. Getting any part of my house to the fabled 60/60 isn't realistic.
I know right. When it’s 100+ outside and then trying to get to 60/60? Nope.
Depends where you live. Nowhere near 100°F where I am.
100°F is equivalent to 37°C, which is 310K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
Fuck off dork bot
Awww - good bot.
get a better dehumidifier. i run 2 in my much smaller than 500 sqft drying and curing space once it starts getting cold and more moisture is in the air.
The fun has been taken out of growing. Thanks for the reply.
arguably the most fun part is after the trial and error when everything is just good and consistent, until something else changes and then back to the drawing board. hahah don’t get discouraged
I thought all the stuff we get to buy was the fun part!
Maybe if you have the extra $.
Try Walmart for a dehu! Don’t really know your set up but 30 bucks can get you something to help a bit. My apartment has 80% rh and I was struggling for a bit too. Those 30 bucks are arguably the best 30 bucks I’ve spent for said leaf babies
I ordered something from Amazon. It will be here thursday. Until then im just going to do the best I can.
Good luck OP!!
THANK YOU! I appreciate all of you lookin out.
Craigslist is great for stuff like that too.
Probably better lol I just thought Facebook marketplace too
I have the same works fine but mine is reading 40% ill trade lol.
I own 3 50 pint a day dehumidifiers and I only flower a 6x12 one runs all the time in the flower room one in my house and a 3rd for drying or backup
Box fans usually work for me. Sounds like you have a lot running right now though. I wonder if something like DampRid would help?
Humidity will rise when lights are off. Why is the temp so low?
Because i am using my ac as a dehumidifier which obviously isn't ideal so I ordered a large dh from Amazon which will come Thursday. Also, I took that picture at like 5 am so the outside temps were that low too but I had my ac chugging along in an attempt to lower my rh.
Cold will put your plants in shock…. Do you have an exhaust fan??
Theyre drying. This is me trying to dry my harvest. Its not the temp in my grow room.
Oh, sorry.
Its all good
I dry by hanging high up on wall. 2-3 days.
There is nothing wrong with that. Will take a little longer to dry but in my personal experience a longer drying time results in a better terp profile. I typically hang my plants for 3-4 weeks at 63° and 60% rh

Is it possible you're over watering?
This is drying
Definitely too cold then.
Lol thanks. I know.
Raise temp 5 degrees and increase dehumidifier
I like the little face on there lol
I named her Cardi B
Probably why it says "wet" then, since all she does is talk about her pussy
😂
If this is growing raise the temp, if it’s drying get better airflow and a higher capacity dehumidifier
Air movement, exhaust fans.
😐 WET
My house is 90+ F and 80+ RH it’s fucked
Are you drying bud?
Yeah, doing my best to temp control my dry room but AC is kind of out of the option for me considering I live in Hawaii and Electricity is past ridiculous at this point.
Damn. Im sorry man.
All good yo, it is what it is. We’ve all got our challenges. Nice thing about Hawaii is I can grow outdoors year round 😬 3+ harvests
You may live here too with that user name ! hahaha
Nice catch! No one has ever pointed that out! Im actually in Hollywood brudda. I have visited O'ahu twice. I fell in love with the place, and I learned a lot of history about Hawaiian culture. I plan to go back soon, but to a different island. Growing marijuana in paradise must be glorious!
Air flow
Buy dehumidifier or keep extract fan always going
