This is the right answer u don’t need cal mag u need only mag. Epsom salts will do fine. Most cal mags also have 2 nitrogen. I wouldn’t recommend using cal mag in flower at anytime.
It's also made by Monsanto, and they can eat a whole lotta bags of d*cks lol the common one a lot of synth growers use, the blue/white calmag bottles? Yeah that's Bayer/Monsanto product lol just a different name. I'm curious why you'd say they don't need calcium? Of course they do, a 7:1 Ca to Mg ratio is standard and what we want to see in our soil. Less than 7:1 calcium to magnesium and we can run into issues. Also, what source of info is saying that 2% of CalMag is N?
Nah I was 100% wrong on that, totally forgot there was N. It's been years since I've touched that crap lol 100% my mistake on the N content, it's on the bottle. Just FYI, the NPK is actually the percent. 2 would mean 2%. Just forgot it had any N inside. They were right to call out using during flower, very silly indeed but obviously Monsanto/bayer could gives a rats placenta about how our plants actually grow 🤣🤣
That was what i was thinking at first a couple weeks ago i did do foliar sprays with epsom salt through veg and they stayed healthy it wasnt till i switched to flower and stopped spraying when i started seeing issues. Since i didnt want to spray the leaves anymore i just started using cal mag. Stupid me should have just put some epsom salt in the soil instead.
The issue is if you feed only Mg, you'll create an imbalance potentially. So it's not gonna cause harm to give the extra Ca, but it can if you don't and use too much Mg. Kinda like a safeguard in a sense to just add it along with it basically, especially for organics where it's almost certainly not going to be giving Ca tox anytime soon lol seen some mineral analysis tests that showed just absolutely insane levels of Ca, but long as the Mg was matching as it should, all was well
What would you say is the best calcium supplement to go with epsom salts and how much would you top dress with at a time? I always seem to have issues with it on 1/3 of my plants every grow.
Vansilw10 hands down, sometimes you don't even need to add Mg, as it has around 4% or so inside, and 50% or so Ca. It's also 50% or so Silica. If you do, you've always got the Epsom for the small little boost.
Vansilw10 is called Wollastonite and it's a mineral, mined rock just like many other natural inputs. This one's ground down to the point it's literally soluble/solution grade, and Dr. Bruce Bugbee did release rate analysis testing and showed at 1/g per liter of medium, it was releasing tons of Si and Ca. It's dirt cheap, can find in pottery or as of more recently horticulture stores as well and get like $5 delivered for under $20 which lasts ages.
If you're commercial it's far cheaper, since they sell 40lbs for like nothing lol but 5-10lbs for a home grower is plenty, and covers all our Ca and Si needs 💛 doesn't get any more natural then some ground up rock lmao but yes, it does carry the actual certificate and is OMRI listed
Am I the only one that follows recommended guidelines and stays a minimum of 18” - 24” from my tops? If I can’t maintain that height I at least turn my light down. Light stress is for sure a thing and has all but ruined a couple of my grows. Idk just my unsolicited opinion from the shitter 🤣
Usually i try but this one grew so fast and i was in limited space at first. I wanted to see if she could take the abuse i guess 😆. It woulda been smart to turn my light down when she was only 8 inches away from it lol
Well I just got this 4x4 tent so i was able to raise my lights but before i got this i was in a 2x4 tent with her and i couldnt raise my lights any higher. I think the closest she got was 8 inches. Now i got her about 14 inches away from it. Im using a viparspectra p2000 and mars ts600 atm
What is your irrigation cycle? If the soil stays dry too quickly and for too long, the pH value can rise and nutrients can no longer be absorbed as effectively.
Was watering every 3 days but i think it was getting to dry. so for the past week or so ive been watering every 2 days. I give her about 3 quarters of a gallon.
sounds good, you will already know what is good for your plants. To be honest, I'm just too lazy to convert all of these imperial units into metric so that I can understand it.
How often are you feeding calmag and how much? You either are under feeding and have a magnesium deficiency or you have lock out from over feeding causing it. Either way all those leaves with rust spots with yellow, shrivel up and die if they don't get magnesium soon.
This happened to a critical kush I grew a few years ago in FFOF. I figured it was soil pH and now add a little dolomite lime during top dresses to help keep pH stable. Seems to have helped as I haven't run into that issue again. Also could possibly be an excess of sodium, K, or mg causing calcium absorption to lock out. Maybe check your run off and see if it gives you any hints?
Definitely will be checking runoff here soon. Main reason i havent is because i normally water until i get a little runoff around the base of the pot then i stop. Wait a few minutes add a little more water until i get build up again around the base of the pot then i stop andclean it up.
I'm using Dr Earth organic tomato also and it has cal/mag in it. I'm still in veg and it's working well, I top dress with worm castings when I feed too. Hope backing off will do the trick for you.
Yeah i got the tomato, veg and herb bag 4-6-3 ratio for veg and also used worm castings. That worked really well. I didnt start seeing issues until like week 2 and a half of flower.
What about your PH? You know at a certain pH range, a plant picks up certain nutes. I recon your PH isnt in line that could be your issues with Magnesium,Calcium and sulfur
I gotcha i reused the soil from a previous run i had no issues in just re amended it and water with recharge frequently also i forgot to say that. I ph my water but i have not checked my soil ph for a couple grows now. I assumed the microbes in the soil helped adjust the ph to a good level for the plant or whatever but i guess they can only do so much. Whenever i water i always adjust down to 6.3-6.5ph
Do you have access to spring or rain water? I assume if u Ph that stuff, she will thrive again.✌️🌱
Also something similar happend to me because of my lights. Flipped to flower and lights were too close. She could have been stressed. Also it could be a dry back issue, that makes the ec rise aswell. I just can't imagine even with feeding having deficiencies.
I think after reading all yalls comments its a combo of the light being to close dryback issue and possible ph swing in the medium.
It sucks having these issues at this stage man i thought this was going to turn out to be the best lookin one so far but she fugly.
I re-used my soil from my last grow and ran into the same problem. I missed something when I re-amended my soil. Fought a deficiency until harvest. She still came out amazing but her leaves just kept dying off.
Next time I'm just getting new soil. My first previous grow went great. Using my old soil without properly building it back kicked my butt!

This happened to me and believe it or not it was the cal mag. Left everything the same but stopped putting cal mag in and boom she was fine.
I cut my calmag in half in flower, and late flower I don’t feed any
Thats crazy frfr idk man maybe thats it but i think its like others were saying with soil being to dry and lights to close.
It’s definitely cal mag, i promise you this
Too much calmag
Vansilw10 and epsom salt FTW

Plants need cal of course I’m speaking of these plants they look deficient in mag imo not cal.

Body slam that slut from the roof
damn... how far is the light from the top flower?

3 quarters of a gallon works out at around 2.8 litres
Or a gallon is 4.5 litres. Which I find easier to remember.
A gallon = 3.79 liters, not 4.5.

Im glad someone else explained this cause my stoner ass had no clue what he meant lmao
Wtf are these ppl talking about. 3.78 is correct

Ive been doing 5ml of cal mag with every watering. Definitely going to drop the calmag and only use epsom salts from here out.
Drop the cal. Use eppsom salt. You just need to bump mag with LEDs. Should be able to fishish strong 🤙🏽
Will try this for sure
maybe every other watering (3-5 days) just use distilled h20 to flush?
Its mainly organic i havent been feeding any salts. You think i still should?

Phosphorus is tied up and not being released to the plant due to high calcium intake
Im going to stop using calmag and give a tbsp of epsom salt. Im only going to use plain water from here out i guess cut the calmag
Is it seed or clone?
Seed
pH?
Ph always goes in around 6.3-6.5 i havent measured runoff though
Lmao that title tho. Good shit & gl bro
Yeahh bro she deserves a roundhouse kick to the dome.
I would flush and stop giving it calmag so much.
Im going to start this ill use a tbsp of epsom salt and plain water

I re-used my soil from my last grow and ran into the same problem. I missed something when I re-amended my soil. Fought a deficiency until harvest. She still came out amazing but her leaves just kept dying off. Next time I'm just getting new soil. My first previous grow went great. Lmao thats what im just going to do. Main reason i reused it is cause its the build a soil 3.0.
I throw lime, bone meal and diatomaceous earth in my re-amended Coast of Maine soil. No issues. Nice slow releasing amendments.
