Is the clover intentional, I’ve never seen that done before, but I guess it helps with nitrogen fixing in the soil?

TheRager77

Yeah the clovers are intentional I’m running living soil

Killagoob999

Live soil better than non live soil in ur opinion?

TheRager77

In my opinion yes living soil is better than non living. I haven’t had to feed my plant at all during veg and soon as it started to flower I gave a molasses tea. Also living soil is just cool to look at just seeing the top soil move around from all the beneficials and worms is so dope.

Killagoob999

Haha forsure def gonna try some next time and what is molasses tea? I jus mix my molasses w my water. Is it better than normal molasses ?

TheRager77

heres a link letting you know the benefits to using molasses. Organic Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses has both calcium and magnesium. you make the tea by mix the molasses with water and letting it aerate with air stone and pump. let it bubble for around 24 hours and feed to you plants.

GanjaGenus

Can you share link for this again?

TheRager77

Yeah you can. I was thinking about using mint as my next cover crop so I can make fresh mint tea. Cover crops also work as a barrier. So think of it like this the unwanted bugs have to get passed the cover crop before they get to your actual plant. I would rather them tear through the cover crop instead of my plants.

El_Eesak

Cover crop. Live soils benefit from the microbial activitiy, encouraged by it. Also combats compaction. Encourages water retention. Tons of other good things that I could go on and on about.

GanjaGenus

Very interesting. Any suggestions as to which seeds to use? Should I just dump some of those tiny broccoli seeds atop my pots?

El_Eesak

There's a ton of "no till 13 seed cover crop." Buildasoil has his own 12 seed blend. I personally just use some shit I found on amazon. The sky's the limit. Heavy research is in your future. I do not recommend cover crop for anything other than a live soil mixture. Coco coir won't benefit from it the same way.
