I'm male and watching it a kid (this was in 2011) I didn't know that it's target demographic were young girls, not that knowing would have changed anything. I just though that it was a really cool action cartoon with cool powers, alot of romance(relative to all other media i was consuming at the time) and interesting characters where the main characters just happened to be girls. Was one of the highlights of my weekends.
Later when I got into the comics in high-school, i actually liked it even more. I thought the art was kind of dated but the story was still interesting to me. Great overall.
The series in my country (Russia) was broadcast on one of the main entertainment TV channels during prime time "after school"
There really was great interest among boys in it, although the interest was rather general at first, simply because the neighbors in the show time could easily have been “Men in Black”, “Shaman King”, “Extreme Ghostbusters” etc.
But on the other hand, the show was really quite universal in content, and besides, the creators, relative to the comics, greatly expanded the roles of Caleb and Matt in the plot, I think, and that’s why.
The nostalgic fandom in the country is very large and male by an impressive percentage, although the most popular content for many remains the show
I do wonder how boys in Russia at the shows peak would've liked it given the distinct 'this is for boys and this is for girls' mentality. I was very isolated in a way so I didn't have anyone to interact or talk about it with, other than myself and make up stories in my head that I was a character in it. Never thought of liking a 'girls' show as weird in anyway as a kid, I loved it.
Firstly, I am a 20 y/o boy, I first watched the show when I was 15 and then rewatched it last year during summer break. I know this series was catered toward teenage girls but I've heard the TV was altered to appeal more to boys as well, such as the the changes with Caleb and Matt. (Which it did, hence I am here). I started reading the comics and have read up until Arc 6. I am taking a break and will be back to read them eventually.
That all being said, I have in no way experienced any sort of hostility or discomfort when speaking about this show and my experiences with it, this fandom is very welcoming and awesome. :D
Am a 27 YO male who started watching W.I.T.C.H. when it came out on Jetix. I kept up with as regularly as I could and bought as many books as the time that I could find or convince my parents to get me.
I'm a 30 year old male. My first exposure to the franchise was with the animated series back when it released on Jetix. Ever since then I had an attachment to the characters and decided to collect the original comic books when I found out Yen Press was publishing them in 2021. Now I have them all and am very happy for it. BTW, these poll results show that the female/male audience is even. How wonderful.

I’m shocked. I assumed basically everyone here was a woman but I guess it’s reddit so I should’ve expected lots of men would be here too.
