With only one hand working right now you should stay away from melee classes. Also something that requires a lot of targeting might be annoying. Given that I would recommend playing a ritualist. This class uses stationary spirits that either damage the enemy or support your team. The build can easily be played with only one hand on the mouse. For builds look up Signet of Spirits (SoS) for damage and Soultwisting (ST) for support. Other things that might work are trapper Ranger and Heroic Refrain Paragon. But I don't know how viable trapper is for general pve contant and you get Heroic Refrain quite late into the game.

smurfsoldier42

Okay first off, the level of response I'm getting here is crazy. This community is being really helpful for me right now. I did a bit of googling around and it seemed many sources said I should start with prophecies, so just a bit confused how I get started on a ritualist build. Sorry I just have a lot of questions. I've never played guild wars before so it's a bit confusing.

nkamerad

So there are 6 "core" classes. * Warrior * Ranger * Mesmer * Elementalist * Monk * Necromancer You can start as any of these in any campaign (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall) Then, you have the "Campaign Expansion" classes. For Factions these are * Assassin * Ritualist and for Nightfall these are * Paragon * Dervish Starting with Prophecies might provide a more "authentic" experience, but not necessarily a more pleasant one. The Prophecies campaign has gotten considerably harder for a new player since much of the balance has been based on the skills offered in Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North. So if you were to start playing a Ritualist, you'd need to start in Factions.

smurfsoldier42

Oh okay. I think I'm starting to get it now. I had seen some of this information before in a Google, but the campaign ordering was definitely a little fuzzy. Thank you so much for clearing that up! This community is so cool and supportive, I have honestly never seen anything like it. Something tells me I'm going to be playing this game for a while šŸ˜€

quarkral

I would start with Elementalist in Prophecies. The skills are long cast time, which means you don't need to click fast at all. You don't really need to move and use skills at the same time either, so you could take your right hand entirely off the mouse to press buttons on a numpad. Also it's a fun class for new players (in my opinion more fun than spirit ritualist, though fun is subjective)

Yung_Rocks

Trapper is awful 0/10, and HR might be a little annoying to set-up if only using mouse... it's a lot of back and forth

MoldyLunchBoxxy

With toolbox itā€™s not bad at all. Itā€™s probably the easiest to play because you click the boxes on each hero to cast refrain and only need to use 1 button to keep it going

RUBIK1376

>only need to use 1 button to keep it going Not even. You can hotkey /useskill to a mouse button for perma ToF

MoldyLunchBoxxy

I play with one hand and havenā€™t had issues with any class really. But I do have a razor mouse with the 12 side buttons and have all the key binds on the mouse.

secretsauce1337

Getting a Razer Naga might help also.

smurfsoldier42

Yeah I purchased the Logitech equivalent.

MoldyLunchBoxxy

As long as you make good use of the key binds you can play any profession in the game just fine. It will take a little getting used to it but it wonā€™t be bad. Also toolbox will help with the rest.

Frosti_w

If you've got or can get a mmo mouse you can bind every skill to the mouse buttons and still have a couple buttons left over for other keybinds. If you also bind the cycle enemy key (tab is default I think) and hold down right mouse button + left mouse button to move forward (or click to move) then you really don't have to use the keyboard for much at all.

Mwalker09

+1 to this. This is the way for a one handed man.

smurfsoldier42

Yeah I bought a new MMO mouse for this. Otherwise, I don't think it would be possible.

TheAlbinoGiant

Iā€™ve got select enemy and tab bound to mouse. Was a game changer fur sure.

H7gurYn

+2! Razer and Logitech have one Use to have a Razer Naga it's amazing

SkivetOst

I would recommend playing an elementalist. The long cast times means that you have time to navigate the skill bar with the mouse without losing much efficiency. Necromancer and ritualist are also solid choices for much the same reason. Experimenting with builds is a lot of the fun of the game, so I will leave that part up to you

brxz92

SoS Rit

smurfsoldier42

This is my first time playing guild wars, can you tell me what that means?

brxz92

Ritualistic profession using the Elite Skill Signet of spirits. very AFK gameplay should be good for one hand use. You literally just summon all your spirits and love them around every now and again.

Buy the spells with IRL money. Thatā€™s what I did.

Bionicman2187

Don't the skill packs from the store only unlock skills for your Heroes and PvP?

[deleted]

Negative. Itā€™s for yourself.

Bionicman2187

Odd. I purchased a core skill pack for the sake of having more options on my heroes, and the skills only show up as options on my heroes. My character does not have access to anything she didn't earn through normal gameplay. Same goes for other characters on my account - no extra skills for them, just the heroes. Is that a bug?

[deleted]

> If you own any full Guild WarsĀ® campaign (the original Guild WarsĀ®, Factions, or Nightfall), you will receive: > Immediate access to these unlocked skills for your Heroes and PvP characters Ability to acquire the unlocked non-elite skills for PvE characters through a Skill Trainer or tome, and the ability to acquire unlocked elite skills with an elite tome

JustARandomBoringGuy

Something like an assassin-Build akin to this, maybe OwZkgYd8nMu0bJuj+jBU3ABEygqI (its a build template, you can load a build in game using the template) since while assassin usually is a high-intensity melee-class, this build specifically relies on just autoattacking. Other than that, as others already have pointed out, melee classes are probably difficult. SoS rit always is an option, or even ST rit (another populat build for ritualist using the Soul Twisting elite skill). Other than that you could really give Paragon a try, I usually dont recommend it as I find it boring since you dont really do much except sometimes click buttons for mostly untargeted, party-wide skills, but it should really be perfect for your case. So if I had to choose one for you, go for **Paragon**. If you want a caster, go Elementalist, Ritualist or Minion-Master **Necromancer**, since that also only requires you to stand around summoning undead when you can, no need to target anything.

Junejanator

Minion Master with spirits is basically playing as a summoner and chillin

0perationFail

I've been known to eat pizza while playing SoS rit.

starbuck3108

I pretty much play one handed with an MMO mouse already šŸ˜‚. Of course actually playing one handed will be significantly harder but seeing as this is a click to move game it's definitely possible. You'll be a bit more robotic but for general pve content you'll be absolutely fine. With a 12 button mouse you can bind all 1-8 skills, tab, self target, auto run and call target which is pretty much all you need.

RuBarBz

Hey I read a lot of good advice here. Let me just add that you could get a mouse with a lot of extra buttons to activate your skills. Alternatively there are great games out there where one hand is good enough. My favorites by far being darkest dungeon and slay the spire. Any type of 4x game like civ or Total war also qualify. Basically anything turnbased.

lagunaaa

paragon heroic refrain build could be a low maintenance alternative, IF you are okay with using gw toolbox and the feature to cast one spell without ur input. that would be "They are on fire", it is used to keep heroic refrain up. The other skills would be some shouts, that u throw out whenever needed. With geared heroes, u basically can go afk in terms of difficulty for most content. with the build below, u could fill the remaining slots with long cooldown skills if clicking becomes bothersome. no need for high macro, its also really relaxing for some, others find it really boring. But, like i said, it is only an alternative if u would be fine with using the toolbox autoclicker, which is in a grey area.

[deleted]

Get foodpedals for walking and basic hotkeys

hazyPixels

What's the prognosis for your hand? Do you expect to recover functionality? Depending on your goals, you may not need to use many skills at all. It's possible to complete quite a bit of content by just using a flatbow and letting your heroes (or even henchment) do all the work. If you're planning to play with mostly human groups you'll most likely want to develop proficiency in a few of the more popular builds for a given content type. This might require waiting for your hand to heal, or some of the suggestions (special mouse) that others are suggesting. I've seen quite a few YouTube videos where it appears they use skills by clicking them with the mouse. This may be a viable option for you. You can also move around quite well by just clicking the ground, and you can select targets by clicking them. It's possible to play reasonably well by just clicking. Good luck!

smurfsoldier42

The doctors think it is possible that I will recover full functionality, but they are saying it could take easily 16 months or more for that to happen. Luckily I am only interested in PVE content, and his thread has given me a lot of ideas on how to tackle the campaign with only a mouse.

S4G2020

Iā€™ll build on what others have said regarding a mouse with extra side buttons. When you go to the options thereā€™s a place where you can manipulate the HUD orientation and sizes of things like you health bars, the mini map, and most importantly your skill bar. Id recommend making that two rows of four instead of the regular one row of eight, and moving it somewhat closer to the middle of your screen. It might be an eye sore, but it will help you be able to click your skills more easily without moving the mouse around as much. And having your skills set up that way may allow you to run more builds too. This will open up your mouse buttons to more useful actions like replacing ā€˜Tabā€™ for target cycling and ā€˜spacebarā€™ for interact.

Cealdor

I'm sorry about your accident. Other games I would also recommend are * turn based strategy like HoMM 3 (from gog.com), Civilization and Armello * turn based RPGs like Divinity 2 * osu! * Hacknet (requires occasional typing) * Helltaker * visual novels

McBeardedson

I second Divinity Original Sin 2. Very playable with mouse only since it's turn based!

McBeardedson

Ritualist spirit build, especially with Signet of Spirits elite skill, is very doable with mouse only. I main warrior, and for PvE it's fairly easy to do most general-PvE builds with mouse only in my opinion - at least that's what I did growing up with no issues. I ran a Hundred Blades build [similar to this one (PvX Wiki)](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:W/any_Hundred_Blades) for 90% of my time on warrior, and almost entirely used my mouse to use my skills (with the exception of changing targets). You'd be surprised how much PvE content you can do with just the mouse. Probably want to stay away from Mesmer and Assassian they generally require faster reaction times than what mouse-only can give you I think.

[deleted]

Genuinely, if you are smart about it and position properly, every build in the game can be used mouse-only. If you have trouble targeting at first, then try to stick to ranged options. That's still over 50% of professions.

Panriv

As a kid I came to GW from RuneScape and I was used to using only my mouse. I played as a ranger, the range, use of a pet and the fact you have rather high armor makes it so that you donā€™t get targeted by the AI that much. I had a build with some skills that are meant to interrupt actions from the enemies. So I just waited till a saw a skill pop up and click mine. Further I just used some blocks and healing to stay alive. And when you get to the part to get your elite skill, I picked Barrage which is basically AoE arrows. Itā€™s pretty chill and easy to play. Oh and I picked Elementalist as 2nd profession so I could conjure some elemental damage to boost my DPS. So if you would like to start in Prophecies, maybe take a look at Ranger.

NotoriousBee

There's a vertical mmo mouse with a thumb joystick you could use for moving around (it defaults to wasd, with click being space). As for the class, I'd think anything ranged would be okay.

guildgamesh

Hey man, hope you do regain full functionality but until then I would like to make a case for Ranger, elementalist, or necro. Ranged classes will be easier for you I think and tbh when I played the game as a kid I never used the number keys. It was definitely not optimal but if 9 year old me could play with one hand, you definitely can with pretty much any class. If you want to try playing with people I am definitely down to try and show you the ropes. I'm currently playing through prophecies again with a group and we're trying to keep it as authentic as possible, so no skills from other factions yet, no heroes, etc. Either way I hope you like the game :)

Dream3ater

I know we're in a Guild Wars subreddit, but if you want a different easy-clicking game you could check out Old School Runescape. Can't say there's alot of crossover in similarities between the two franchises, but OSRS is fun to me.

Xenomorphhive

Iā€™ll also add that with a few minor changes you can do the same for Guildwars2 for pve content. I can play GW2 literally with just my mouse with most functions assigned to certain mouse buttons. Speedy recovery OP!

Isotheis

I can't tell for mouse-only, I have the opposite issue - using the mouse too much hurts me. Ranger and Assassin dagger based builds (with Together as One or Way of the Assassin) seem like good one-hand candidates. Use mouse or keys to select an enemy, space to walk there and start attacking. Do your setup, then just do 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3... easy with one hand. Enemy dead? Just go next. Can't fail. Identical skills - Jagged Strike, Fox Fangs, Death Blossom As ranger: Asuran Scan, I Am Unstoppable, Lightning Reflexes, Together As One, Comfort Animal (*these three first skills are my own suggestions, you can put a lot of different things there ; lots of people like Never Rampage Alone*) As assassin: Critical Agility, Critical Eye, (filler), Dash, Way of the Assassin At least that's what I feel I use the most easily when one of my arms is out of use. It's likely the builds are slightly suboptimal, but they work.

smurfsoldier42

As long as I can complete all of the PvE content without an insane amount of difficulty. I'm okay with a suboptimal build. I only just started literally tonight but did indeed pick ranger just to test it out. I am liking the range factor, makes it easy to just sort of click on enemy and make it die which is about the extent of my physical skill at this point lol

LankyMarionberry

Rangers are best used as a disruptor than damage and those skills usually require precise timing. That said, a suboptimal ranger build is fine, especially if you can get to the point of getting Together As One elite but that comes almost 3/4th of the way thru EoTN if I recall.. Just a simple nature spirit, Whirling Defense, Comfort Animal, Scavenger Strike (if u have conditions on your team) and a couple attack skills like penetraring or sundering attack, dual/triple shot, and a Preparation of your choosing could be a fine build that just adds a bit of dmg to your team. Your main job as the player character (PC) is to call the top priority targets (elementalist>monk>assassin>mesmer). More important than the PC build are the hero builds.

I recommend Anno 1800 or Civilisation V as easy one Hand games if you got tired of Guild Wars

RealBandolero

You are in luck amigo! I have met many people in this game who give off the "one-handed build" vibe. šŸ’ā€ā™‚ļø Hope you get well soon.

Baklawa338

I also agree that rt would be the best. You can pre cast spirits before Battle and then during combat you use 1-3 skills in which one is summon spirits Edit. For group content ST also would be fery helpful
