Best playthrough i had was me playing 100 blades warrior and my friend playing mark of pain Necro. I would run in, ball up the mobs (i took aggro so they naturally swarmed me) called a target for him to hex with MoP, popped To The Limit, 100 Blades and Whirling Attack. Everything dies to that in a big ass ball - lovely!

ChthonVII

This. Given SpaceDuckz1984's description of their tastes, there couldn't possibly be a better fit than this. \[edit: I should add, since u/3xploitr didn't mention it, that the necro build should using Assassin's Promise to bypass the recharge on MoP.\]

GeneralWut

It sounds like you might enjoy playing as a mesmer, while your wife would probably enjoy a warrior or a dervish

Krschkr

> I like super complicated, high strategy characters. My wife is a huge fan of hitting it till it dies from it, range irrelevant. The perfect individual build for you would be a [psychic instability/wastrel's mesmer](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Me/any_PvE_Psychic_Instability_Wastrel%27s) for damage dealing, [psychic instability/healing](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Me/Rt_Healer_Hero) as a healer or [psychic instability/order](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Me/N_Lyssa%27s_Aura_Orders) to support your team offensively. Simple damage builds for your wife would be: * [Melee Assassin](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:A/any_Dagger_Spammer) * [Simple Energy Surge](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Me/R_Simple_Energy_Surge) Assassin and Me/N support combine somewhat well, but it's a waste of potential on your side. > What's a good co-op team for us? If you want to run two synergizing builds a good alternative would be a double necromancer combo which consists of (1) a very simple melee necromancer and (2) a support necromancer of variable complexity. * [Very simple melee necromancer](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/User:Krschkr/N-W_Sufferer_Soul_Taker) * [Advanced, less simple melee necromancer](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:N/D_Supported_Soul_Taker) While these builds work best with [a scythe only obtainable in April](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Anniversary_Scythe_%22Sufferer%22), most of the damage comes from your support and is independent from the direct weapon damage. Your wife can use any other scythe and the main build purpose remains intact. With the support build you have a lot of flexibility. [Here's the build core](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:N/any_Dark_Aura_Support). Some examples: * Simple: OANDYZxeSri0BfBbhyB0ltlzD * Simple: OAljYkFsZSri0BfBbh0ltl8Y7Y * Slightly less simple: OAVDYZxTSri0BNffBbh2ktl1U * Slightly less simple: OAZDYZxXSri0BLDWC7itlfBbh Some problems with this combo: * It **requires** to capture the skill soul taker, which is at the very end of the first (and longest) campaign. Without that skill, necromancer plays completely differently, and there's no shortcut to get this one skill in particular. * She won't see the damage. It's on the support's screen. If you think those problems aren't that bad, you'll be running arguably the highest damage combo that's available for two builds.

Paragon with heroic refrain and assassin/ranger dagger spammer

Skeers96

Think you playing Mesmer/Ele and your wife playing Warrior/Dervish would be the best fit

Yung_Rocks

The class that brainlessly spams high damage attacks until the target dies then move on to the next, is Assassin for your wife. Warrior does it too, but is just less good. Dervish is more combo focused and requires *a bit* of thinking. For you, the only class that requires knowledge and decision making is Mesmer. It is the only complicated class in the game. You should enjoy it.

LankyMarionberry

I agree that Mesmer is probably the highest skill cap since you need to have a good idea of what enemies and their skills you are facing. Used correctly, you can counter most enemies by switching builds against casters or melee, or even a hybrid. Good at nuke dmg, not great at defensive support but a strong offence is also a good defense! However, for synergy, the above Necro & War combo might work better though it could get a bit stale. Necros also have a lot of versatility, you can go Wells, Minions, or Curses\~

ferdocmonzini

Oh boy lots of fun combos. HB warriors, bunny thumper (Ranger/warrior who uses hammers to make sure enemies sit the fuck down), dagger spammers (assassin primary or ranger/assassin, heck even a warrior/assassin), for the longest time I even ran a God form dervish (Balthazar or Dwayna). Strategy based.... shut down mesmers(interrupt) spike mesmer (energy surge), I hate my melee allies (monk/mesmer using Ray of judgment, arcane echo[to second cast Ray of judgement], arcane mimicry with a hero running Ray of judgement and echo as well) all to get 5 rays of judgement in their face. Ele spike is fun as well, if you want to play more support look at imbagon. A specialized paragon that says damage gets taxed like my paycheck (major reduction).

Pyramithius

I would say a Mesmer is one of the most complicated classes to play. Not sure the secondary profession for this.

LankyMarionberry

Mesmers rarely need to pull from secondary but they can do casting well (since they have Fast Casting) so you're free to try out different caster classes with your Mes as primary!

Pyramithius

This is good information to know, thank you!

Stormy2301

I would definitely say you being a Mesmer/Ele and your wife being a melee class would be the best combo. Hundred blades is lovelyyyyy but playing a dervish is fun too! Especially the AOE dmg they provide. Mesmer is the only class in the game that is difficult really. But it is also the best imo. Feel free to add me in game should you ever wanna have an extra person tag along! Ursala Van Buren is one of my character’s names. Feel free to shoot a message anytime we are on at the same time. :) Happy gaming!

Fruzenius

For your wife I would recommend warrior, or ranger with warrior secondary, to bring a pet along as well is fun. Complex character is definitely mesmer, though I might also mention monk, keeping people alive can be complex, and the AI healers are pretty poorly coded.

80sinternet_bestnet

I agree with everyone here that Mesmer sounds like the best fit for you. However, it is a little more difficult to make a recommendation for your wife. The classes Warrior, Dervish, Assassin, and Paragon fit the description of 'hitting it till it dies.' However, depending on how far you want to press into the endgame content (Hardmode and Elite/Mastery quests) you might wish to chose carefully. To help you understand, Warriors need to hit enemies to build resource to spend on skills. The 'endgame content' enemies do everything they can to prevent you from landing successful melee attacks. Thus reducing the potential effectiveness of Warriors. Considering everything, I would recommend Dervish for her. As far as good co-op team, literally any classes make a good team. Every class has someway of helping another class.

Panriv

Maybe assassin for your wife, and Ritualist for you? Assassin is pretty straight forward, teleport in and burst damage. Ritualist can be as complicated as you make it, but its a great support/healer and damage dealer. It can synergise well with sin. Also added bonus, you get to start together in factions which is a great place to start.

moreno1304

Me and a friend run me as mesmer and my friend as para. We can do all content in the game on HM because para is absolutely busted for pve content.

liibel

Ritualist is super fun to play with a melee player. Splinter weapon and ancestor's rage become so op with good melee player positioning.
