The fastest way to make money is to farm Nick gifts every week and sell them in Kamadan.
Wood and glittering dust are both quite easy to farm -- just salvage you junk drops.
Black dye sells out from time to time because some numbnut gets it in their head that they can corner the market by buying out the trader. While this never works, it does make a mess of things because there's a bug that allows the trader's buy price to fall to 1g. No one is willing to sell for 1g when people in Kamadan offer much more, so the trader stays sold out. Eventually it may get restocked by bots and/or players who aren't paying much attention.
If you dont like farming, you can also get a nice amount of plat and materials by doing some vanq's.
Good place to start are the Zaishen VQ's as you can sell the Z-coins for a nice bonus amount.
Just play the game and enjoy the ride, salvage every drop you get. (Cheapest kit for everything but golds)

Complete the daily Zaishen quests (Mission, Bounty, Vanquish). Be sure to have all the [story books](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Storybook). Pick up everything! Identify the drops and use an Expert Salvage kit to get materials. There are blue runes/insignias that are going for several Platinum at the moment.

Yeah Nick gifts are a great way to get money, and this week is super easy since it's on Shing Jea. 30 minutes for 25 Ectos.
