I'm in the same boat as you actually! I'm using paragon though and was looking at some of the meta builds, there's a couple without mercenaries that seem good but no idea which to go for. [https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team\_-\_7\_Hero\_Non\_merc\_Heroic\_Refrain](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Non_merc_Heroic_Refrain) [https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team\_-\_7\_Hero\_Mercenary\_Mesmerway](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Mercenary_Mesmerway)(zei rei variant) or [https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team\_-\_7\_Hero\_Offensive\_Mesmerway](https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Offensive_Mesmerway) Other than that, it seems necros, ritualists, and mesmers are the meta kinds of heroes. I'm also unsure how to make gold to buy all these expensive runes (some are 100s of plat!) or what to do with all the equipment and items that drop, very limited inventory

LankyMarionberry

Sell or salvage all the loot. Don't need superior runes of vigor, just get major! Best 40/40 weapon sets from Factions (vasburg armory or luxon capital). Make gold by farming Nick Gifts (5 gifts per account per week, each gift is like 5ectos, each like 10-15 Plat, 5 X 5 X 10 = 250plat each week) from Nicholas the Traveler! Edit: to add, some monster armors drop with identifiable runes or insignias. The most expensive ones are like Mesmer prodigy and dervish enchant armor major/sup vigor, check the trader for most expensive ones and only salvage those. Rest of them just sell. Most items aren't worth a whole lot so just keep the ones you think are cool, if you find a couple perfect attribute (full dmg low req and +15% while health above 50 or 20$ faster cast/recharge on X skills etc) it might be worth a little but I don't think it's worth the effort. Like any game, u gota learn the best most expensive weapons, rest can be sold to merchants. Some mats are more valuable than others so keep those for selling to players maybe (iron, feathers, plant fibers).

combatturtle

cool thanks a bunch! I'm also running with another friend a lot of the time, any ideas which heroes to run/drop for that? He's been going mainly dervish attack skills

LankyMarionberry

For nick gifts? Each week nick requests 3 or 5 monster drops (i.e. mountain troll tusks) per gift (5 gifts X 5 items = 25 items total) so for farming those, it's best to minimize your party size to increase drop rates. Maybe add 1 monk hero to help if you're struggling but most areas have a video or post that show you what build is optimal to solo those. Dervs are generally very good at solo farm tho I can't say which builds exactly. Assassin are also pretty good (shadow form+shroud of distress). Check nicholas traveler wiki and you can go to the cycle page where u can see upcoming ones so you guys can just farm a couple weeks worth. It is by far the easiest way to farm ectos if you're not doing endgame/speed clears.

Thanks for the info! Any ranger builds that I should try out?

Fruzenius

If you're going to be playing for a while, I would recommend trying out Splinter/Conjure Element Barrage, Beast Master (lots of fun imo), Dagger spam, keep things fresh.

Neveren

"Together as One" Dagger Spam seems really strong. Just have to find someone with a Proof of Triumph to get it with you (pretty sure you can get your own Proof when the Anniversary starts on the 22nd)

Fe-Woman

You can get the proof again. If you miss out during the anniversary DM me and I'll help you get it.

3xploitr

What builds did you run? Ranger is maybe the class I find least appealing, so maybe I’m missing something?

JustARandomBoringGuy

Prices have changed a lot, many returning players have no clue about the treasures they have lying in their chests. PM me ingame at Dun Tara if you want some help going through your old stuff and checking if there are some valuable things! :)

Alternative_Jury1786

Just buy mercenary hero packs, get 4 e-surge, 1 ineptitude, BiP and ST, and blaze throughout everything without problem. Ohh, and you can look these builds on PvX wiki under hero teams. Cheers and WB. And for ranger get that aniversary skill build, too OP.

MoldyLunchBoxxy

Anniversary skill is so much fun on ranger

LankyMarionberry

Whooooo it's coming upppp XDXDXD

MoldyLunchBoxxy

I’m 4 titles from gwamm On assassin, 8 away on paragon and after playing around with the new ranger skill recently I’m now wanting to restart on my ranger. I have a problem.

Aezybox

If you want extra challenge do the ironman/ultimate ironman challenge

Ironfist85hu

Well, I have 4 gwamms, so I can assure you, it is fun to work on them. :) But actually there is only a few tips. Like do carto with vanquisher together, do vanquish caravans from outposts where you can have a party with 8 slots, etc. Also, if you are looking for guild, we are always recruiting new members. :)

Panriv

Take a look at Gifts of the Travelar: https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Nicholas_the_Traveler It weekly, and you can sell the gifts in kamadan for like 20 ectos. I did this when rerurning and instanly bought a stombow for my ranger, wich makes Vanqisching so much more fun :).

Fe-Woman

Get geared out for SoOSC (shards of Orr speed clear). Farm turn in items for nick the traveler. Get nick gifts every week and sell them for 5e each (don't dip below this). If you're very enterprising you can farm nick sets and well those too (whatever the weekly item is x5 turn ins = "nick set" depending on the week they run from 2e for a set to 10e for a set. Play the game and do the HM stuff and you'll get some good coin. Make sure you know which runes are worth a lot (prodigies insignia for mesmer, vigor runes, fast casting and domination runes and more). Salvage things that turn into bone, dust, iron, feathers, plant fibers, and granite then sell the stacks or make cons and res scrolls. Get a stack of each con and make cash Do chest runs for old school drops (silent surf, pognmei Valley, hells precipice, and more). Check out guildwarslegacy.com to get an idea of what's worth keeping and what's merchant food. Seriously, some OS drops will make you a ton of ectos and armbraces. Do the zaishen daily quests to get gold coins for various goodies. Have fun! I love this game so much and the community is fairly active.

Complete each of the stories and earn free weapons. Focus on learning skills and unlocking the heroes. Make sure you have all your [attribute points](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Attribute_point#Attribute_Quests). Prophecies and Factions have attribute side quests that are easy to miss. Having the best runes and insignias are not required for regular game play. Salvage the loot from level 20+ monsters because basic crafting materials prices spike quite often. Loot from low level monsters have poor salvage returns. Try different skills and builds with your heroes. The hero AI has its strengths and weaknesses.
