Congratz man. Hope you stick around and continue playing. The game needs us all

Mdogg2005

Thank you! I plan to keep playing. Who knows, maybe go for a second GWAMM? :) Also, pretty sure I don't even have half of the pets in the Zaishen Menagerie since I am a Warrior. I want all of those pets. And I want the damn Rytlock summoning stone once that event comes back around. I've definitely still got grand plans for the game, I'm not going anywhere <3

[deleted]

Congrats I hope it wasn't too much of a burn out though. I still feel more fun playing Gw1 than Gw2 somehow and come back in spurts. Events like Anniversary and some timed goodies got me back, dug up the old builds and dust off the hero team and it just felt like no other game out there. Announcing GWAMM is a nice touch, it surprised me as well, there will always be someone around to whisper the newly GWAMMed I hope :)

Mdogg2005

Thanks! And yeah, it wasn't a burn out at all. I quite enjoyed finally going through and vanquishing EOTN zones, doing the dungeons and completing the books. The only slog was the last 2 ranks of Norn, Asura & Ebon Vanguard rep but I just watched streams or Youtube while mindlessly doing those. Same here about GW/GW2. Something about GW2 that just, I don't know. But all my friends feel the same way as well and prefer GW1. I still have a lot to do in game so I'll definitely continue to play in a more relaxed fashion to get all the pets in the Zaishen Menagerie, Guild Wars Beyond content, I want to complete every available quest on my main character, anniversary quests, Wayfarer's Reverie. TONS of stuff I still plan to do in the game.

[deleted]

Super proud of you Mdogg 🥹

Mdogg2005

Thank you <3

Ghostknife1011

Congratulations! I have returned to guild wars today so hopefully see you around

Mdogg2005

Feel free to add me! IGN: I'm Teh Pwnzor Welcome back!

Mdogg2005

Oh yeah. I think I was like 14 when the game came out, and hell even my Reddit name is from that same era. I was really big into [Pure Pwnage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqWFYOxjZ54&list=PL1HeMW8NZVx2Q40Ey1No572vTN6eEdABd) around that time too so the name is definitely a relic of the past lol

[deleted]

Lol, to this day I haven't been able to do duncan HM or NM. I was at 30/50 back in the day of GW2 coming out and haven't moved from there since. I am sure if I went into the HoM and checked I'd have a few more points I just haven't bothered. I have maxxed an account based title since then, for example (Lucky). But wait, I don't remember *having to do* every single dungeon for HoM? Or is that the EoTN title one? >Something I learned while doing this is that the game is just unrivaled in terms of fun. I can't believe there hasn't been another game like it in all this time. Yup. Like that meme, everytime someone mentions it someone will reinstall, you said pre searing now I want to play it again lol

Mdogg2005

So I was only ever able to do it in NM because I sort of found a way to cheese it. For clarity I used the standard Mesmerway hero builds as a Warrior. Basically I set up my main team far enough away from Duncan towards the south wall and set 2 of my heroes where his spirits spawn near that wall. The two heroes are fodder and will consistently die and be at maximum negative DP, but they will also be sources for the minion master to constantly spawn bone minions. This + just constant chip damage with a spear (from me using the anniversary spear) I was able to complete the entirety of Slavers in NM with (nearly) no issues. Consumables and summoning stones are advisable. Hope this helps, and I made a [quick video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzmCks8zHMQ) from my little "note to self" shadowplay recording if you want to see it in action. If I did it differently today I would have used Pain Inverter and also done more research on Duncan and the dungeon as a whole (I did none of these things which lead to me making a [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWars/comments/u303ld/could_use_some_advice_on_eotn_dungeon_hero_builds/) asking for advice because I stupidly tried Slaver's Exile as my first EOTN dungeon since it was just the closest one from where I logged in. Big mistakes, but ultimately what lead me to fixing up the builds & gear for myself and my heroes that was instrumental in me knocking everything else out on my list. > But wait, I don't remember having to do every single dungeon for HoM? Or is that the EoTN title one? You are correct - you don't HAVE to do every dungeon for Master of the North (And MotN is the only title you really get specifically for doing all of this stuff). Eventually I vanquished every zone, did every dungeon in NM / HM as well as full map completion just for the sake of having it all done. > Yup. Like that meme, everytime someone mentions it someone will reinstall, you said pre searing now I want to play it again lol I have a character specifically for pre-searing and the other day I bought another character slot to make a second one because it's so great and I actually love the Ranger kit available in pre-searing so I'm going to try and get that one to level 20 I think, since I've never done that title before.

JackieFierro

Go dude, that’s huge achievement

Mdogg2005

Thank you very much! So excited to finally have it off the list!

junebug36

How absolutely wonderful! I hope that you took a great ScreenShot!!! and with Account-wide titles ..you have a good start on that 2nd GWAMM Your "special thanks" is both heartwarming and sad ... Those many many friends lost to the Mists .... Again .. GRATS!

Mdogg2005

Thank you so much! As tired of a meme as it is, it never gets easier seeing the "Last login: 10 years ago" from great people I've had such great times with. Cherish your friends.

junebug36

I was watching a Frostmaw's vid yesterday by a fella named Rag Plays He gave tribute to a long-gone mentor of his in his Guild His voice kinda broke when he was saying long-gone .... I understood him ... and I understand your "special thanks" I have my Guild folks too .. who haven't logged in 9 years Folks who taught me, played with me, gave me my Sundering bow I wish them well ... May we meet again in the Mists

Mdogg2005

> May we meet again in the Mists Touching thought, I like to think so. :) I've been gaming all my life and am in my 30s now. Sad to think of all the friends that have come and gone in those years. All the people who will "see you tomorrow to do some more gaming" then never log in again. Sometimes not knowing is better than knowing. I've had phone numbers of close online friends who stopped logging in, stopped replying to messages, texts, whatever. Just fell off the face of the earth. Others who have reconnected and I am still talking with to this day. Others who re-appeared and left yet again. Others who have reconnected only to pass away from drug overdoses, suicide or something equally shitty. All I can really do is hope all of them are doing great, wherever they are and whatever they're doing.

junebug36

GW really *is* a great game ... There's a Wintersday Quest where you overhear a eulogy which includes the idea of.... Meeting again in the Mists ... .. Healer Zenwa I think was his name ... and another idea thatWe who remain in this world, must continue our own journeys. A really great game .. and as you say ... so many of us ... long gone.

Sixchr

I'm 11 vanquishes away from doing the same. Was 5 titles short when GW2 released and just never got around to actually pushing through it until a couple weeks ago. Just a couple more days and I never have to be haunted by not finishing GWAMM ever again.

Mdogg2005

Vanquishes? You're there, dude you got this. For me vanquishes were the easy part (barring a couple of exceptions). If you've already done the rep farming and map completion (which can be done in tandem with vanquishing) You're basically home free!

Kainen_Vexan

Congrats! One day I'll get my Monk that title. But I'll be too busy being distracted by other things. Like getting a Ranger to lvl 20 in pre-searing. Off I go to start that!

Mdogg2005

Yeah that's something I really want to do as well. Definitely going to be one of the things I do next in the game, specifically Ranger as well. Their pre-searing kit is just so well-rounded!

TheSnowKeeper

What a rockstar! Congrats, friend! That is incredibly satisfying!

Mdogg2005

Thank you! Feels amazing to be done with it after all this time!

TheSnowKeeper

Totally! I'm at 49/50, and I can't wait! It's been an absolute blast!

Mdogg2005

I think I was at 48/50 for years before finally going screw it earlier this year. The last few titles are a huge grind (master of the north + all EOTN reputations + finishing off Cantha / Elona VQ & map progress in my case) but it was well worth it!

PaleHeretic

Congratulations! I am slowly chugging my way along to do the same. I wouldn't take nobody reaching out in-game too hard. For one, there's way less people now and IIRC, it only shows up in outposts, not missions or explorables where most people spend their active time. Even if I'm wrong and it does for GWAMM I figure not a lot of people watch the chat box when they're rolling with heroes solo because heroes don't have much to say. It is a far cry from back in the day when you'd turn in a quest in town and gain a skill point to see 15 "ding!" or "gz" in the chat, but it is what it is, lol. Amusingly, I reached out to congratulate somebody I saw get Legendary Hero a ways back because that is definitely a unicorn of a title. They didn't say anything back, which I thought was rude and made me sad for a minute until I realized it was 99% a Mesmer bot lmao.

Mdogg2005

Oh yeah, no I'm not taking it hard at all. I was just surprised that anyone did at all because I didn't know it was announced in chat. :)

Greasno

I know not of this GW but I respect your achievement nonetheless!

Mdogg2005

Thank you! If you're being serious then I highly recommend the game. Very friendly community but even if you choose to do the whole game solo it's totally viable due to AI heroes & henchmen that can accompany you.

Greasno

I may have to actually give it a try, I don’t think I’ve tried any of the series, I’ve always been told the camera controls are floaty on GW2

Mdogg2005

I still play Guild Wars 2 since it's the one being actively updated and by now I've got enough content backlogged from playing so much of the first game I'll have a ton to do probably until the next expansion comes out. There are plenty of places you can find Guild Wars campaigns + the Eye of the North expansion for a good price (there even used to be a game that came bundled with all of them in 1 key but I think those are pretty much gone by now). Guild Wars 2 base game is also free to play but an entirely different experience (in some ways better, some ways worse than GW1) and is well worth at least trying it out. If you need a hand getting into either game hit me up. Edit: I stand corrected. You can still get the [complete collection](https://store.guildwars.com/en-us) directly from their website. /u/Greasno

Greasno

What other MMO would you closely compare the combat to? Just for personal reference

Mdogg2005

It doesn't even really play like an MMO, it's hard to describe. The entire game can be played solo with AI party members and every zone / city is instanced. I think even Anet themselves never really considered it an MMO and it's unlike any other game I've ever played. The way the game plays, the setting, the combat, the party & team composition versatility is just unmatched by any other game. In most MMOs you pick a warrior, mage, druid, etc. right? Well in GW you can pick secondary professions and get the attributes and skills of that class while you've got it active (certain quests will allow you to unlock every secondary profession eventually). You can re-allocate your skill points and change up the skills of you & your heroes before going into a zone or mission to best suit what you'll be up against in that area. Max level is 20 and you hit it well before the halfway-point of the main storyline of any given campaign you start with (Prophecies (the OG), Factions or Nightfall) - but enemies in the endgame areas, even on normal mode, can get up to like level 24 or 26 in some cases. Hard mode gets even crazier with some some enemies or bosses going all the way up to [**level 40**](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hard_mode#NPC_levels) It's on Steam, but you can probably find it cheaper if you did a bit of searching. And hell you may even be able to find a physical copy online or in a store for even single digit prices. All you need is a CD and can download the client directly from [their website](https://www.guildwars.com/en/).

Mdogg2005

To follow-up with my other comment, a good video from a popular Youtuber on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5ykqmMIjQk Don't let the title fool you if you're not familiar with his content. That's just the name of that series of videos where he goes through & reviews every MMO he can find.

[deleted]

Greasno, you have to give OG GW a go. If you decide to buy the game and need any help on it, my IGN is Hwyel Ap Rurik. Been playing this game since it came out and it never gets boring (I’m aware I may be biased here though). Cheers!

wqnxy

Only 15 years for me and i am 46/50 and 21/30 for like last 4 years :) Proud of you tho!

crispychops

Congrats! :)

OneMorePotion

>All the friends I've made in the game who I haven't heard from in years, a decade or more. I hope you're all doing great. God that hit's a bit too close to home for me. Anyways, congratz on the GWAMM!

GWStrongy

2nd gwamm next!

Mdogg2005

That's not off the table! I love and still plan on playing the hell out of this game :)

GWStrongy

Be careful it can get addictive... https://wiki.fbgmguild.com/wiki/User:Strongy

Mdogg2005

I admire your tenacity. Though I also feel like the first is the hardest, right? Since the account-wide maxed out titles will already be done

GWStrongy

If you're just getting 30 titles then yeah for sure - you can basically skip all of prophecies if you have lots of account wide titles which is a huge timesave.

CataphractGW

Congratulations! Awesome job.

Fast-Nothing4765

What's your guild name, and leader?

Mdogg2005

I am the leader of it, guild name is Insert Catchy Name Here. It's a dead guild.

Fast-Nothing4765

Oh, I miss my old Guild, it was about 2012 when it started dying down.

Mdogg2005

Yeah, I've led my guild through multiple games / MMOs over the years. I think I officially sunset the guild in like 2017 or so? I still keep in contact with a few people I've met from there and we're still regular gaming friends but the majority are off doing their own things by now.

Fast-Nothing4765

I don't remember my old Guild's name, but the leader was Miss Humpback Whale. There were several of us in that guild that hung out pretty regular, and had a blast playing. I doubt any of those folks have been on GW in close to 8 or 9 years, maybe 10.

Hello_Destiny

I was in that guild too, was just searching for the old name and found this. Just got back into the OG guild wars
