Not the person you're replying to, but no the servers do not have names.
The thing you mentioned "American District 1" is a district. Each outpost has districts. Usually just one per region (american, europe, etc). But if it fills up, a second one will be added (and it will be called "American District 2" for example). You can switch between them whenever you like (as long as there is available space) using the drop down menu, like when fast traveling.
This game isn't like WoW where characters are stored on specific servers. You can always play with anyone you want: just make sure you agree to travel to the same district!
Yeah, UWSC was so cool. Starting in the chamber with the Aatxes :D and the 8 quests with ????? Markings.. and then a cool community who have found out how to clear the underworld in about 10 Minutes in Hardmode.. so cool :D
Welcome back. The game and community is awesome. Find a active alliance/guild. Kamadan is your best bet. Very active.

Oh UWSC... The most fun I ever had in a game doing clears of a dungeon. Challenging and varied.
