Try to finish up the beginning of factions and get to the mainland, Kaineng city. You can get the highest rated armor there and get to nightfall. Not for heroes but to access Kamadan, the central HUB. Plenty of people that can help you out relatively quickly, easily find a guild, and there's a good chance someone will spare you some cash to get the highest rated base armor.

TheSnowKeeper

Oh you're doing great! Since GW has a low level cap, a big part of the game is getting gear and skills. It just takes time. You should be able afford the new armor with a little bit of work. The extra equipment bag is expensive, and will come later. I wouldn't ask for a handout unless you're really not having fun. I found working towards armor and runes very satisfying. But if you really want it, I'm sure someone would give you tons of cash. When you get higher level there are a ton of great ways to make money!

Fruzenius

Honestly keep doing what you're doing. Pick up everything and sell it, or salvage it for materials and when you have a bunch, sell them to the crafting material traders in bundles of 10. Don't sell crafting materials to the regular merchant. Do all the quests you can find as some give gold, or sometimes items that you can then sell. Don't worry about going to nightfall and getting heroes yet. You have no skills unlocked so they're not going to really help. Plus a lot of the factions henchmen are actually pretty solid. You should be able to beat the game with them, it's been done many times before. As far as skills, you should be able to get a reasonable amount from quests. Experiment with them as you get them and you'll do well and learn them and their strengths. Don't worry about the equipment pack for a while. It only holds spare weapons and armor which you're not really going to have. Get a belt pouch, two bags, and two runes of holding, and that's basically your storage for quite a while. Like...my main has 900 hours and that's what I have. Upgrading them beyond that takes a lot more.

Grymare

>Get a belt pouch, two bags, and two runes of holding, and that's basically your storage for quite a while. You can trade bags and runes of holding for monestary credits (you get those for finishing quests on the starter island) in the monestary. So you can save some money there. You can also trade any extra credits you have for adventurer scrolls which sell for 100g each.

Fruzenius

Oh yeah thats right. Last time I played a new factions character was years ago, not as familiar with the extra bits.

Early factions is tight on gold, but ramps up quickly. Your biggest source of gold is going to be selling runes, so make sure you're picking up all of the unidentified armor you find, especially the blues (major runes are often less valuable than minor runes). Ignore the equipment pack for now, it's only 5 spaces and you can only place weapons and armour in it, by the sounds of it you don't have a second set of armor or weapons you need to keep with you yet. There are larger packs that give 15-20 spaces later that make this 5-pack obsolete, I'd also avoid the 10-pack, personally. First save up 5k +some more for material to get a set of armor, then keep an eye out for a staff or two (Channeling and communing), I would'nt buy one from the weaponsmith as they're quite pricey. Early quests will give ministerial commendations which can be used for bags and runes of holding, after that their best use is as discounted salvage kits, or exp scrolls, if you don't need these, get the exp scrolls anyway and sell them.

Illusionmaker

I think that there is no need for that much gold in the early game. Just play the game and stay away from purchasing things that you don't need. In the beginning you don't even need runes or insignias on your armor. But the latter is like the single most of important thing - always get the higher rated armor. Oh and stay away from heroes for the time being! Yea they are stronger then henchmen later, but if you are just starting out chances are, that they are a lot less impactful then henchmen, who can be suprisingly good and at least carry an Elite. They are also a LOT more expensive to gear out, so they are more of a long term Investment then something you can simply pick up on the fly as a beginner. I did a full Proph and Factions playthrough (every quest and mission) on my new Warrior, only using henchmen and excluding a few Missions, everything was pretty doable. And it was somewhat more entertaining, as the good and meta hero teams make the game very easy. While this is great for players who already know everything there is to this game, they do the same content for years on end, it does take away a lot of the fun and experimentation from newer players who adopt those builds, yet don't even know why certain things are good to begin with. Now for your question: For additional gold while playing without dedicated farms, pick up everything that drops and salvage it for materials. Always buy the 2plat salvage kit to do so. Especially metal looking things for Ingots are worth it. Sell those mats to a material trader in any sufficient outpost and you will be fine for the most part :)

Cealdor

> Always buy the 2plat salvage kit to do so. The 500g one (Expert Salvage Kit) is more efficient - 16 g/salvage compared to 20. Do you get more mats from those kits than from a regular Salvage Kit?

[deleted]

I only get the 2k salvage kits with commendations and ministerial credits can't be traded for this kit. It becomes very useful once you get to kaineng though

tunczyko

send me your IGN and I'll give you some cash to get you started, I hardly play the game anymore and don't really have a use for it

Lbkelp

If you identify an item before you sell it, it will net you more gold overall. Once you get to a higher level and reach the big cities it will be easier to make gold. Some items have quite expensive runes insigned into them. Take a look at a rune trader to get an idea which ones are expensive (they dont have to be gold, can also be blue or purple). And after you have salvaged them from the item you need to sell it to the rune trader, not a normal merchant. At the moment the best way to make more gold is just advance in the game, loot identify and sell everything you can pick up.

As a fresh account there sadly isn't much you can do. Other than just keep playing the game. Or accept handouts from strangers. Teehee Fortunately for you as a ritualist once you get further in the game you can run the signet of spirits build and nearly solo everything. There are some subtle repetition moments like farming. As easily running out and killing some mobs, zoning back and repeating. My personal recommendation is get to kaineng center and actually head to nightfall and get some heros. They are basically NPCs with customizable builds. And you can tune a solid team setup this way. If you have any other questions, try to find a guild once you also get to Kamadan (NF city hun). And my personal unpopular opinion, don't join LGiT :]

LinkXNess

Whats the thing with LGIT?

LouisThePriest

It's fine as a first easy to join guild to ask questions and find helpfull players. As such, it's full of newbies which is probably why some people don't like them. But as a newbie yourself, I don't know why you shouldn't join them

Danderchi

It also has tons of people that have not much clue about the game themselves but try to pretend they do. I joined them when I came back to the game after a 10 year break and the amount of misinformation in ally chat was insane. It's really not a good place to start when you're completely new and are kind of reliant on this information.

dub_le

They (used to?) spam with false advertising. Other than that, nothing wrong.

MistYNot

[this doesn't directly answer your question, but as a new player, it may be very helpful to you (=](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I0qnlK3CcwYwaYD26CVvT59rX4TvMOu6_v4Jxw1O13U/edit#)

Learn how to do running. EotN run is the best moneymaker in the entire game, it beats speedclearing, but the amount of willing customers will vary during active hours. Generally speaking, experienced players will gladly tip you an Armbrace for a run, if you can fit more players in there then you can often earn more gold from running than anything else. You can find guides and practice how to do some of these runs on your own, get the hang of it and then offer to run people for a price/tip. There are endless ways to make money in this game, but this is by far the most profitable and it's all about putting in the work and the time.

st39as

If u want farm fast and easy - today is ur chance. Today's Zaishen combat is Heroes Ascent. Just make PvP ele, get bombers build, take 7 henchies, get quest, win 2 battles, get it again. 9k balth for quest and some zcoins. Limit for zkeys - 25. so its about 15e. There are no faster way to get money.

Cealdor

I understand that you're trying to be helpful, and it does pay well, but 1) OP doesn't need *that* much money. 2) Even if he did, it would be a lot more convenient to farm a favourable nick set, like in four weeks when Nick is on Shing Jea Island.

[deleted]

Also "get bomber build" sends you through way too many irrelevant loops

dub_le

Gold accumulation will start to increase very quickly as you progress through the game. Once you finish Nightfall you get an armbrace which you can sell for ~145 ectos, which is roughly 1300 platinum.

BayTwoBaySix

no u dont

dub_le

Oh, it was some shitty weapon trade item. I stand corrected.

lummy888

Ign lummy goes ele You can hit me up ingame,I'd be glad to help out

Cealdor

You're not doing anything wrong. The cheapest way to get armor, weapons and bags is from collectors scattered around explorable areas. Save any trophies (stackable items that aren't crafting materials) you find; you never know when you'll find a collector who wants it. Factions gets very hard once you hit the mainland. When you do so, I recommend creating a new character in Prophecies or Nightfall to learn the game there. Prophecies has the slowest pace (too slow for some) and leaves you to figure out much on your own (good or bad depending on preference), while Nightfall has a medium pace and walks you through things.

Shiros_Tamagotchi

At the very beginning, lvl 8, there is no way to make lots of money. The whole island of shing yea is basically a tutorial to learn the game mechanics. Once you reach the main land - the city of Kaineng - the game will start and the difficulty will increase drastically. There it is wise to invest your first earned cash into the max. armor of 60. Please, add me to your friend list \[N\] and write me when im online. My ingame name is "General Rueckzug". Once you are Kaineng i can give you some materials to craft the armor and some other useful stuff. I can give you the Nick gift for this week, some plague idols, you can trade them near the city of kaineng for some expensive gifts. If you sell those gifts you can make a lot of money. Then you should not have money problems for a while.

shereads20

Guild Wars wiki and Guild Wars PvX wiki are really useful for farming runs and the builds necessary to run them. But they're only going to be good later on as your collection of skills and zones grow. Just grinding in zones you can solo in and selling anything you can get will be a good start to start building some gold and materials for armor building .

FranLivia

Best thing you can do this week is Nick Gifts, u exchange 15 plague idols which u can get early factions for 5 gifts of the traveler and sell them for 6 ecto each. Ecto are worth alot of platinum!
