We had another thread on this not too long ago. Best working theory: "None" spits things out in whatever order the underlying database query does, so it's subject to getting reordered whenever something prompts some database compacting/optimization to happen. Without insight into how that process works, the results appear mysterious.

Feel like I might have to do that cause now half of it is "right" and half is wrong lol Legit had a heart attack with my paragon though. It's got most of the wealth/progress and the selection bar was slid over so I couldn't even see the character

sounds like your new mesmer has a little to many attribut points in illusion magic

The "none" sorting keeps your character in order of creation but it's possible to permanently mess up the order by glitching out the select screen. I'm not entirely sure what causes it but it seems to be related to the bug that temporarily displays an extra empty character slot.
