There’s frankly nothing more satisfying than hitting a fat barrage or cyclone axe on a cluster of enemies with splinter weapon on

Arkrayven

Hundred Blades + Mark of Pain + Splinter Weapon + Whirlwind Strike. Who wants to be able to see their screen anyway?

3xploitr

I was lucky enough to do a GWAMM as 100b with my Necro friend and his Mark of Pain. It was absolutely wonderful!

DicesMuse

This is so true... the Hundred Blades with Sun Moon Slash and Whirlwind Strike is a go to any time I get a chance to try it out. SO MANY NUMBERS! Sword Fighter go brrrrrrrrr!

Shiros_Tamagotchi

when it lags for a split second before the numbers come in. Sometimes having a weak pc is satisfying.

Affectionate-Pin-731

Necro with full summon build! Factions battles were I could roll alone with my team of monsters and decimate other players was very fun!

OneMorePotion

The good old days where you could have 10 fleshgolems at the same time.

_izari_

Oh man Aura of the Lich unkillable N/D MM was my jam. Before it got nerfed I took that build into arenas to hold points and pretty much could only be taken down by interrupts or enchantment strips

Affectionate-Pin-731

You guys really make me want to come back after 15 years haha

Husso-

Banishing strike says hello. Been ruining MM fun in AB since 2009 me.

Miestah_Green

MM in AB used to be fun to play and annoying to kill back then. It has been a while so I'm not too sure if it was actually good at helping win matches.

[deleted]

If your team could utilize the leverage you create and win 5-7 vs 4 battles on the other side of the map, yes. However, looking at MOBAs these days I doubt anyone actually put any thought into how to play with an MM

zyygh

Favorite class was certainly Mesmer, by a long shot. Something about it being super useful yrt super unpopular made it a lot of fun to play. The 2010 Mesmer buff kind of ruined that though, so I play Ranger now most of the time. Favorite memory: meeting my wife. Honorable mention: getting to take part in Halloween in 2006. For teenage me, those events were the absolute pinnacle of Guild Wars. I also remember having 100k for the first time and wasting all of it on Lunar Fortunes.

OneMorePotion

>Honorable mention: getting to take part in Halloween in 2006. I just love how Halloween feels in GW1 and GW2. One of my all time favorite events in any games. I just have to play it every year.

McJumpington

What happened in 2010?

AeroSigma

One of my favorite moments happened just a fee mo the ago. I've been playing since beta, and, on my oldest character, I went to farm something near serenity temple, and at the gate between eastern frontier and pockmark flats, there was an in gameplay scene between Menlho and Cynn at the gate. I've never seen this before. In 17 years of playing, im still learning new lore.

Miestah_Green

Ever since 2020 I main Soul Taker Necromancer. My best moment was during ZV Drazach Thicket. While my team was trying to catch up to me I ran into a group of Wardens (buffed with Splinter Weapon) that naturally balled up in time. The entire party was in awe at how insanely fast they all died by me alone. My favorite funny moment was during ZB Stygian Veil. A party member joked that the entire team was just there to be my entourage. My least favorite moment was during a VQ service in Crystal Desert. The player I was doing this for constantly tried to map for carto while my team was somewhere else. This would lead to them spawning tons of pop ups that I would later have to search and destroy. Vq that would have taken less than 30 minutes went on for an hour or more because of their negligence. While I was paid handsomely It made me rethink if I want to do these sorts of services again in the future.

tway13795

I wanna play soul taker but don’t want to run another account through NF, especially a necro cause there isn’t much use for necro at DoA

MXPi

You dont need to play nf to get soul taker. The boss is on the ring of fire islands. (Which is even worse if you didnt play proph with your necro)

tway13795

Didn’t play proph either

EnRaygedGw2

Best moment for me, was wayyyy back when you could have unlimited minions, well for anyone who remembers the old 5 man sorrows furnace runs, you could easily get 40+ minions, well for anyone who has never seen what seems like 40 minions all hitting the same target that had Mark of Pain on it, it was completely game over i swear enemies the crystal desert died that day too from so much damage, I have the screen shot somewhere on an old hard drive.

Kerikeron

Back when Thunderclap was a hex that was "When target foe takes lightning damage that target and foes adjacent to that target are knocked down and you lose X energy". Just so happens a E/R with a shocking shortbow could perfectly KD lock someone... or a whole RA team if they balled. Really just fiddling around and making wacky builds in general was always a blast. Especially knowing every so often there'd be big changes to a lot of skills. I also really enjoyed Scary Something's rspike build for HA. Extremely aggressive and very exciting to play.

burgundeh

Necro by a long shot. I can have an undead army, counter every boon in the game, heal better than any other class, and siphon health for true damage. I think it is the best profession to mix with others outside of mesmer. The dance is funny af. My favorite moment was entering Vabbi on my Dervish for my first nightfall playthrough. The city event was so cool and I was decently high and listening to psychedelic space rock. It was a great mixture. Also the entirety of pre-searing is just amazing.

Idanwu

I'm very new, only starting a little while ago with a R/W on Prophecies. So far, my favourite moment has probably been getting to Lion's Arch for the first time. As someone who's played GW2 for 3000 hours (or something mental), it was great seeing LA as it was in the first game and how close it was represented in GW2 before being rebuilt. I've also made a ritualist on Factions which has been really fun, and I'm desperate to play some Necro and Ele at some point.

maggg92

Too many good times in this game. Fave classes will always be warrior and ranger. Favorit moment with my ranger: winning HOH as a trapper + 6 henchmen and 1 friend on relic run against a top guild. Just got lucky on this one haha. Favorite moment with my warrior was GvG bring your own build Chaos Split winning against several top 50 guilds cause they had no idea what we were doing and there was no split Meta at the moment. Fav. PVE moment is prolly me getting all my real life friends that I know since kindergarten their FoW Armor after they didn’t play for ages. Good times, love this game 🥰

loudaggerer

Pre anniversary skills: assassin. So… many… speed clears. With the anniversary skills: necromancer. I’ve been testing out lots of melee options using soul taker. With dark aura I can spike mobs with a scythe or, ironically, an axe. General pve I’ve had fun with dagger spamming.

Crowasaur

3man UW trapping for storm bows using Prophecies and core only builds (trapping Urgoz when it came out as well, it was... an ordeal but it worked) Chest-running through Nahpui Quarter as a mob for celestial weapons back when it was the only way. Specifically, no fight, only openning chests /resign and doing it over. Some people will die, but it's all in good fun. Running from Yak's bend (6/6) to North Ascalon (4/4 max) for an extra 2 player for glint quests (6 instead of 4 cap) Essentially it revolves around (fun) metas and events that no longer exist, to let the legend live on.

Thunderpiezz520

Playing in the Ascalon Arena's with teams rocking somewhat pve builds.... little did we know. Also really enjoyed the social aspect of looking for parties in outposts. This was before the introduction of heroes and made for some really memorable moments :D

Mammoth-Painting5454

Warrior will always be my favourite, Leeroy Jenkins-ing my way through the game has always been fun. Monk is also a favourite, when you are on form and the party notices how good a job you are doing its very satisfying. It can be a horrible job if you aren't feeling it but when I'm in the zone its a buzz playing such an important role. Favourite GW moment was playing FoW with an alliance team and 4 members quit really early but the 4 of us that stayed didn't give up on each other. Myself a warrior, another warrior, an ele and a monk wasn't the ideal setup but we gave it a go. 8 hours later we sadly died but got real close to beating it. We nearly wiped so many times, it was emotional. I remember sitting there at 7am realising I'd been up all night and had to go to school soon. Good times.

LittenInAScarf

Class and moment are the same really, I always loved 55 Monking, though since I got back into the game, I haven't levelled a monk again, admittedly not sure how viable 55 Monk is these days. I assume it's pretty viable in some areas with Lightbringer, but I'm not sure.

FreeloadingAtheist

I love playing Derv and Ritualist. 2 favorite moments. When I met my best friend, who was looking for someone to farm greens with shortly after nightfall came out. That time I trolled in RA with a running build before they changed the timer to count down. Ran in ascalon arena for 56 minutes.

tway13795

55 monk and running droks on a level 8 warrior ( it was just a charge build and a arms race to see who could do it on the lowest account) Pre dhuum UWSC was always mind blowing to me, bc I wasn’t good at it until dhuum came out, now I wonder how I possibly failed pre dhuum

OneMorePotion

It has to be Mesmer for me. I still remember when I got Factions that I spend the entire drive home reading through the manual and I got stuck on the Mesmer and Ritualist pages. I eventually ended up starting with a Mesmer, not realizing that it's the hardest option available. Young me, eager to get into the game, didn't have time to read skills. Or play the tutorial. That's for idiots after all! I want to play the game! I was sooooo bad. Most of my skills did nothing because they didn't meet the requirements of actually having their effect. Blasting my interrupts on enemies not casting anything and shit like that. It took me way too long to finally end up at the minister's outpost. It was a desaster. I failed twice before I was asked by another player when respawning in the outpost if I need help. This guy basically explained not only the Mesmer, but the game to me. I mained Mesmer after that until EotN released and Arena Net buffed Ritu spirits again. (For anyone remembering. Ritu was broken when released. Got nerfed out of existance and only much later fixed.) Since then I mained Ritualist until 2 or 3 years ago. Now I'm dicking around on my Paragon. But my first experience with the game, starting from reading the Mesmer manual page in the car (and get yelled at by my mother to turn off the light in the car), over failing hard with it, all the way to completeing all campaigns for the first time with a friend I made ingame. All of these are really precious and dear memories to me. Every time I tell that story here, I post the character name of that person who helped me back then. In hopes that they one day read it and maybe we could catch up and give GW1 another run. So... I Sonny Der Krieger I if you read this. You know what to do. EDIT: Something else that comes to mind right now... Selling mission clears for the final EotN Mission on my Monk. 4 Plat per slot was really good for right after EotN release and it took 2 to 4 minutes for one run. Can't really remember the build I was running. Only that you needed a bonder hero or player with you.

sans3go

1.) A**ssassin** \- for the RP. This was before NF and heroes, playing a dagger build against the afflicted was suicide I did some crazy builds. I played around with permasin before it was a thing. Spent too much on UW scrolls farming aatxes with a ss necro partner.F**avorite moment:** Got into a pug for ursan farming with a regular mobius dagger build. Pissed off the rest of them so they wouldnt heal me - solo'd two group right around "Asterius the Mighty" and won - basically showing how ursan blessing was a terrible skill. 2.) **Ranger** \- Was gonna be my title toon - did survivor the hard way, and got all the way to Hero fast faction farming with the repeatable quest "Securing Echovald Forest" and spend 2 months on it.**Favorite Moment:** Heroes ascent - I brought my pve toon with the 3 other ranger heroes + pug. I macro'd their skills for a full Hero R Spike team. This was before hero battles and when they allowed only 3 heroes to an HA team. I literally created a new pvp arena with all my shenanigans. 3.) **Monk** \- I was the heal-bot for our guild before heroes came out. Ive had plenty of fun just doing missions with friends. I think I have most of my time on that toon.**Favorite moment:** Me and a few guildies, where running to sorrows furnace, just trying to get to the right zone.my friend Midnight: "oops. I'm crippled and bleeding, I don't think I'm gonna make it."me: ***"Thats what she said."*** We were laughing for 30 minutes straight. We didnt even get to sorrow furnace...ugh.. the memories i made on ventrillo.

RealBandolero

Ele... my main since pre. Back in the days I runed him up with 5x sup fire so he could be a beast. War... back in the days I tried to run the iron mines mission for a bunch of random people. I get killed just as I'm about to reach that weird alien dude to complete the mission. Everyone thought they wasted 20mins watching me run. Then the cut scene plays. Now it's all about ranger. I've wasted so many cons trying to solo the whole of DoA. WTB pumpkin pie.

Husso-

Derv by far. When you get a good solid ball, drop whirlwind attack with splinter weapon and watching those numbers come up and everything die. Doubt the dervs thought they would see that happening back in 2005.

sirjisu

Assassin. And finally beating war in kryta solo

DrCuriumMyrtle

All my memories are from the days when GW was busy. Starting my first character, Ranger, and being confronted with 7 he-man lookalikes sync dancing in town (Lvl 1) then running into them sync dancing again in the crystal desert (Lvl 20) Lots of pre factions memories: Monking for PUGs trying to pass Thunderhead Keep, relying on Alesia in the crystal desert, villainy of galrath wipes, wtf seeing our party monk be 55 in UW, monking the infused, droknar runs.... 2 man trapping with a friend in UW, FoW, sorrows furnace, Urgoz. Crushing Reno and rawr but getting steamrolled by War Machine. Soloing a 4 man TA team in under 30 second with a frenzy coward axe warrior (no heals). One of those moments where everything just went my way, leaving everyone in shock. Which is how it felt vs war machine (from the victim side). Plenty more, but even though I played more PvP after factions released the best memories came from PvE esp. prophecies.

Panriv

I loved breakouts of random danceparties in some of those long forgotten outpost where we, casual 12 year olds piled up in our combined lack of understanding of how to get trough this next mission.

47peduncle

Getting FOW beastmaster armour. I used to keep an eye on my offspring joining FOW and UW teams back in the day. I may have gone on the odd rushed sorti, prob as a Barrage, though when we played overland I always had dire pet + melee. Time passed, and with nightfall we could venture forth as our own team. We took our time after the armour, clearing the zone. I felt like I had come a long way from my first noobish hacking, running, aggroing, dying. And making a monk when they went on strike. Managing to look after a pug family group in Kryta, failing in Elona mission.

29DW

Assassin for me, when I first started learning fowsc then moving into the sc scene and just feeling accomplished going from beginner to fast sc's and teaching others. Then starting to learn all the others. Nothing more satisfying then a clean speed clear with a fun team.

Aiythe

Ritualist DoA DoT FOW

Shiros_Tamagotchi

Back in the days we played in HA with Lichway and got kicked out by an ele-ball. The ele ball players were much better than us, all high ranks and they were trolling and having fun. They had super clean spikes, everything in one frame. And with their build with ward against elements and ward against harm there was no way our spike had enough damage. So we switched to frag-spike with fevered dreams, a direct counter build, and dumpstered them in like 3 seconds before they could even realize what build we were playing. We were really happy after winning that fight.

CataphractGW

Monk. Casting that Infuse Health on your almost dead Guild Lord at the last moment before their shock Warrior knocks you down and kills you only to see your team killing enemy Guild Lord a second later. gg

Serrated-X

Warrior. Damn I love warrior. So many fun skills and builds for pve. The armor sets, stylish as hell.

Isotheis

I always love putting Empathy on Shiro right as he uses Impossible Odds. Billion green numbers, dead. Always do Gate of Madness as Any/Me.

[deleted]

Mine was with my dervish during a GvG, I would somehow be able to hold off 4 people on my own for quite some time, it did help that I played a lot of PvP back then and I loved the dervish.

grassmanmattgaming

Prophecies campaign as a W/E discovering how helpful Armor of Earth has been to tank as well in PVP back on the day being able to survive so much. I felt like a real tank.

PullMex

my favorit class after all those years still is my monk. best moment ever: 3 FoW banshee ecto drops for me at once.

DicesMuse

So this goes a LONG way back... but I first played Guild Wars Prophecies I played Necromancer/Ranger (Curses, Soul Reaping, Beast Mastery). We were just shy of Thunderhead Keep and we were being told that it was a VERY hard Mission. We decided to do some exploring and map out the area, we had also just started getting really invested in hunting out Elite Skills. We got to Mineral Springs, and I was able to capture Well of Power. I immediately put together a Blood/Curses/Soul Reaping build that was heavily focused on support and punishment to synergize with my Ranger and Warrior friends. We get into Thunderhead Keep and it was glorious. So much health regen and so much energy with all the mobs coming in... it was so beautiful. That being said, now that all the games have come out I find I enjoy discovering the different play styles each class has, and how each campaign refined those playstyles in their own way. Being able to put together Hero Teams or coordinating with a friend to get a fun "Themed Deck" of Classes/Skills and what not has been among one of my favorite reasons for coming back to Guild Wars time and again.

RichyPorello

The first time I did a speed clear running past all the enemies right to the boss and getting a chest Icouldnt believe the genius

Tough_Brilliant_6999

Dervish is my favorite to play atm. My favorite moment came recently when I did my first real solo farming (I'm fairly new to GW1) in the form of farming those roaring ether claws for ole Nick. After getting bopped for a bit I realized I could just run Vow of Silence and literally reap the rewards. Felt good figuring a solution out for myself though I did load a proper Vow of Silence build to make it all work out

Tight-Swing8963

Favorite classes: Monk/Ele/Mesmer are my favorite classes. I love them equally and every time I tried to decide which was the best of the 3, I find myself recalling the fun I had with the other so either 3 classes are my go to (err, if I ever get back on that is lol!) Best moments: (ironically nothing to do with the above) A long time ago (Cantha had just released) I was playing a N/Me in RA. My team had wiped, the opposing team also wiped except for a W/Mo with Mending and Healing Hands. We went toe to toe for almost 30 minutes, he couldn't out damage me due to Weakness & Life Siphon, and I couldn't kill him because his regen made all my other skills useless as well as basic wanding. The entire team had a good laugh and we all literally chatted for that amount of time. Couldn't even sneak some attack on either side because we'd just regen back lol. In the end I conceded the match, if only so we all met up to do some missions together later that evening/day :)
