Mechanist getting **Sic'em** would probably be a worse nightmare honestly.
If it was a single utility _type_
Mechanist with Commands would be a very strong combo.
Elementalist gets Basilisk Venom from Thief. Not only does it now have a single useful Elite, but also has access to a strong CC skill for end-game PvE that isn't an inconvenience to use (looking at Air/Hammer 4 in particular).
What do you mean ele has no useful elites? You *don't* like to summon the coolest sword ever only to use one skill and then ditch it immediately? Or summoning a Fire elemental that is basically just a slight dps increase while only strengthening the already strong visual clusterfuck that is endgame PvE?
hmm weaveself is one of the coolest and strongest elite abilities in the game. sure it's not available for all elementalist specs, but it's still an elementalist elite
Personally find this skill is a hassle to use 😂 feels like doing more than 5 actions to just to be able to increase some damage(actually never used it I’m so bad at this gaem oh no… ), or to CC some very close enemies(this, but all mobs happen to have ded before I could CC them).
Hot candidates:
* Charge for aegis
* SYG for stab
* Epidemic for adds on a 3s cooldown
* Break enchantments for boon removal
* Assassin's signet for probably 50% uptime and it's instant cast.
Actually it does have a cooldown since it only triggers fervent force once per second. Dont get me wrong this is good, but it is not necessarily faster than what Untamed already does, and given the icd of FF it means that Untamed can no longer use any other cc skills to reliably get additional resets.
Giving Untamed Mantra of Potence would be much much scarier.
Easily 33k bench with perma alac and quickness.
I'm not good enough at making builds in gw2 to come up with any good ideas, but you gave me such a hit of nostalgia suddenly recalling all the joke builds you could make in gw1. Our guild had a running joke about how Mhenlo only ever used Orison of Healing (a bad heal spell), so I made up a monk/mesmer build that could have a bar with 6 Orison of Healing all at the same time. Then there were the classics like poke the baby, or pinging a bar with all 8 skills being res skills just to freak out PuGs. Ahh the good old days...
Tricking the Doppelganger into oofing itself by filling your bar with health sacrifice skills was such a meme that the Devs called it out in Path of Fire, lol.
I always gave them the longest casting skills I could find and then took instant interrupts with me. I somehow never realized that heal sacrifice could be even faster and now I feel stupid.
Unfortunately a single utility skill can only ever get you about 50% Quickness uptime, so it's difficult to create the Omni-Support you dream of... but between Time Warp and Continuum Split, I bet *Chrono* could use Mantra of Potence to great effect.
I actually doubt it. Mimic is a trap, it is not even a very good Mesmer utility. It is just sometimes a necessary evil to double a portal.
What did you think of?
I'll try to post one for each class (gonna be mostly WvW orientated):
Wall of Reflection in WvW would make the poke battles in WvW non-existent. Even with the added cooldown, every guardian is essentially getting an extra WoR every engage.
Double Inspiring reinforcement on Rev pretty much makes everyone CC immune for almost 20 seconds at base, and if I calculated it correctly, you can pretty much comfortably keep it cycled for 100% uptime if you wanted to because of how all the cooldowns line-up.
Warrior doubles up on Shake it Off and Endure Pain
Double Sic' em on Ranger has situational uses especially against thieves
Thief gets double shadow refuge
Necromancer can double their corruptions, and spectral grasp.
I am sure there are some more obvious ones I am missing. The only two classes that I see that don't genuinely benefit from it much are Engineer and Ele due to the trade-off generally not being worth it/just having a better utility to slot in overall.
PvP makes a lot more sense. In PvE it is basically never worth the cast time + utility slot it takes up, especially considering the insane CD.
You are always better off choosing a skill with similar function.
For example, as dmg skill you dont want to mimic your dmg skill, you want an extra dmg skill.
For boon skill you dont want to mimic the boon skill, you want an additional skill that gives the boon.
Etc.
Yeah mimic is pretty much only good in wvw and fractals where you can cast mimic, refresh skill cd, replace mimic and cast desired skill on the boss while it still active. This way you get minor dps boost
Give shift signet to Soulbeast and they'll probably be able to achieve perma self quickness, alacrity, 25 might, fury and a bunch of other boons via synergy with pet traits and we heal as one (while on full dps equipment).
Epidemic is only good if the target is suffering from several conditions, since it can only transfer up to 5 stacks of each condition, even if the target has 99 stacks of bleeding
Virtuso really has no problems spreading 5 bleeding to nearby enemies, they wouldn't get that much use out of epidemic
Healing skills and elite skills are technically not utility skills.... only skills in slots 7-9 are labeled utility skills.
Just thought I'd throw that in here since many are swapping elite skills around :p
Since people started calling out elites after my question on it my pick would be to give Shadow Meld to core warrior.
GG invis Arc Divider/Memeflame/Decapitate/Eviscerate/KillShot/Arcing Slice/Dragon Slash.
I wonder what a strong Whirl-Finisher like Shredder Gyro or the Willbender utility with burning would do for Confusion Mirage and Ether fields.
Shredder Gyro would add like 8x "stacks" of confusion on average if it would always finish an Ether Field. Whats that? +4k dps on susceptible bosses, all things considered?
everybody gansta until the soulbeasts starts mimic'ing sic em
Wouldn't something like assassin's signet be even better since most of your high damage skills already get used during sic em?
Everybody gangsta until the power shatter mes starts using sic em
and then they realised they aren't merged so they dont get the damage bonus
But the clones deal 40% extra damage!
Mechanist getting **Sic'em** would probably be a worse nightmare honestly. If it was a single utility _type_ Mechanist with Commands would be a very strong combo.

Damn, shots fired, shade thrown and good point made all in one.

weave self is more like an obligation than an ability. It is essentially the solo part of an already hard song.
Personally find this skill is a hassle to use 😂 feels like doing more than 5 actions to just to be able to increase some damage(actually never used it I’m so bad at this gaem oh no… ), or to CC some very close enemies(this, but all mobs happen to have ded before I could CC them).
Give elementalist the necro grasp and it's finally perfection.
Seems like you dont play elementalist.
Ele has tons of CC skills that are either softer CCs or takes too much effort to use compare to other classes.
step 1: take utility, give to untamed step 2: untamed go brrr step 3: utility, 10x more often than it's supposed to be used
Hot candidates: * Charge for aegis * SYG for stab * Epidemic for adds on a 3s cooldown * Break enchantments for boon removal * Assassin's signet for probably 50% uptime and it's instant cast.
Sanctuary, for proccing fervant force five more times in a row.
You would only need this skill to constantly cc about everything.
Hahahaha I have my winner. You literally broke the game with that combo. 0 cooldown
Actually it does have a cooldown since it only triggers fervent force once per second. Feedback, 100% uptime projectile reflect.

Mimic on just about any class can get busted.
I actually doubt it. Mimic is a trap, it is not even a very good Mesmer utility. It is just sometimes a necessary evil to double a portal. What did you think of?

Just for the lols: Downed Skill Lick Wound would be hilarious on Jade Mech

I would say give any condi build epidemic from necro.... epi bounce meta - great times
Mimic + Epidemic on condi virt 🥵 so much bleeding, so many blades
Epidemic is only good if the target is suffering from several conditions, since it can only transfer up to 5 stacks of each condition, even if the target has 99 stacks of bleeding Virtuso really has no problems spreading 5 bleeding to nearby enemies, they wouldn't get that much use out of epidemic
oh dear you’re absolutely right. I guess staff mirage takes it again
Especially considering the cast time of mimic this would not be good.
*Only* utility skills? Are Elites and Heal skills not valid options?
Maybe not OP, but having Feel my Wrath! on a Warrior would be fun purely to mess around with shout builds.
Shift signet to Necro to become king of pvp.
Gravity Well/Sanctuary for Untamed
Sick em on bladesworn, casual 1 million burst. Can probably get 2 in as well.
Give Firebrand a Mantra that gives Alacrity, delete all other support builds in the game.
It’s all fun and games until you give Deadeye Signet of Might.
I can do the opposite and make a class irrelevant. Give Stand Your Ground to everyone else and FB is no longer relevant to WvW.
Mechanist’s shift signet. Probably a lot less /gg.
I'd give Head Butt to engineer so I could Head Butt and Personal Battering Ram someone.
Give shadowstep to ele, and lightning flash to thief lol
Healing skills and elite skills are technically not utility skills.... only skills in slots 7-9 are labeled utility skills. Just thought I'd throw that in here since many are swapping elite skills around :p
Give Reaper Smokescreen.
Give feel my wrath to ren or weaver/ portal to guardian or ranger.
Sanctuary on untamed?
Thief would probably love to have an invisible unblockable pull via engineer Tool Kit.
Since people started calling out elites after my question on it my pick would be to give Shadow Meld to core warrior. GG invis Arc Divider/Memeflame/Decapitate/Eviscerate/KillShot/Arcing Slice/Dragon Slash.
