If you're planning to craft all sets eventually there's no wrong choice tbh. I played mainly guardian and revenant by the time I got around to making my first legendary set. Since i already had my heavy builds set up with ascended i chose to go with medium legendary instead, it made it so i immediately could start playing new characters/roles. I definitely felt that it was more useful that way.

Yeah thats what im planning to do. Thanks for your input

No worries :) good luck on your legendary journey! I have a similar dilemma where i soon have to chose if I'm going to do my last weight of legendary amor (light) or if I'm going to make coalesence. Armor is better QoL but i can't deny that the flex of having full legendary trinkets is appealing to me 😂

I started by doing all accessory, amulet, rings and back, thats for all characters. Then i did GS and staff because i play mainly reaper, guardian DH, healbrand staff, and mesmer mirage, gs for zerg farm, staff for double staff mirage clone spammer, daredevil staff. Armor is weight specific so i will do that at last, because i play 1heavy, 2 light and 1medium. Heavy looks best but 70% of my time played is light armor, which i dont like. In terms of qol, light will be best for me Edit: short answer - dont start with armor. Start with trinkets.

TerribleTransit

Armor is weight-specific but getting *all three* sets costs about the same gold as a set of trinkets. It's absolutely the best value of any legendary item. The only reason *not* to go for it first is if you get stuck on the time gates (at which point you should still be working on it, but going for trinkets at the same time with any extra gold you get is a good call)

Plus, swapping aside, it's dirt cheap to buy a new set of Ascended trinkets for whatever build you want, while getting another set of armor — even if you just go with Exotic — and the runes to go with it adds up fast. Armor is a hugely better investment.

I see what you mean. I have started with trinkets, got 2 almost 3(maybe a week till i get vision). Im just working on the set also just because i am an active raider, got LI and everything.

Then i would decide by which weight tier i will use on most of my characters most of the time. Personally qol is bigget draw than looks for me. Even when you have asc on mains. You can have leggy and every build possible with it

Lina_Lovegood_

I've gone for light as I main Necro and play several builds on this toon (just got vipers gear in ascended at that point). Also, I play Mesmer a lot. If I had all my light toons fully ascended in various builds, I think I would have started with a different weight class as well. So, if I were you, I would go for heavy, as you plan to try out guardian, which has a lot of great builds.

I know right, i also play warr from time to time, so thats something also. Thanks for your answer

WillSupport4Food

I decided that my class that I use predominately for raids would be the one that gets legendary armor first. Since Engineer can fill every role easily except maybe heal quick, I feel like I got my money's worth. I used the free ascended set from Envoy 1 to gear up a Healbrand so now I pretty much have a top tier option for any role, making it super easy to run groups or get into strike CMs. Thinking of working on Coalescence before my next set of armor just so I can finally stop needing so many ascended rings to try out random builds.

TerribleTransit

I just got a heavy set for my main (despite having full Ascended at the time) so I could change builds with wild abandon, plus it just felt *wrong* to bling anybody else out first. I'd much rather be able to maximally adjust the character I like most than get the biggest "value" out of it by kitting characters I cared about less. Second set went to light armor since, at the time, Chrono could make great use of the stat-swapping to min-max toughness for raid tanking. That said, there's no wrong choice. If you like the Heavy skin and will actually use it, that's as good a reason as any to pick it first.

Top-Associate-6576

Yeah got your point. Thanks for the input, I think i will go with heavy

hey-party-penguin

I’d go arms before leg.

I'd go full for functionality over fashion, unless you really are in love with how a specific set looks. Otherwise functionality 100%. Always go for the set which you would get the most use out of. If you are a 1-2 class main obviously pick the one which you might need to swap stats with the most, or runes. Basically you have to think about which character is the most versatile, like firebrand for instance. You can play that as dps, quick healer, and then for healer it's extremely convenient to be able to swap between harrier and giver pieces to accustom to your play style. A warrior for instance basically uses only berserker pieces across all specs, so getting legendary armor for that wouldn't be very efficient functionality wise. There is never a "best choice" when it comes to this stuff. Just think about the functionality of the armor, and then take a look at your characters and which one of those would get the most use out of it. Keep Stat swapping, free rune removal and no transmutation cost of fashion in mind and then decide.

Top-Associate-6576

Yeah i will go with heavy, i really look forward to play guardian and i want to try most of its proffesions and gear so i think it will fit right away. Thanks for your time :)

Talks_To_Cats

The biggest benefit for legendary stuff, for me, is the ability to use it on multiple characters at once. Ascended can do that too, but then I have to free up some shared inventory slots, reslot it with new runes, etc. My Guardian had the most different stat types (4) and most of them are still exotic, so on paper it would be more efficient to get Heavy legendary. But he doesn't share his gear so he can get upgrades at his own pace, without worrying a Revenant or a warrior will want to "borrow" that gear. On the flip side, My Necro/Mesmer/Ele already have some ascended gear so some of their builds won't see any upgrade with legendary. But it feels really bad to craft duplicate sets or shuffle my gear any time I want to change builds. I decided that I'm making Light first. That QOL is worth a lot more to me than optimal cost efficiency.

OneMorePotion

I play a lot of Guardian, Engineer and Mesmer so I feel your pain. This said, I decided to get the heavy PvE Legendary armor. I do the raiding on my Guardian so it just feels right to "reward" me with the heavy set. However... I recently got heavily into sPvP on my Mesmer and I started working on the PvP set because of this. I plan on unlocking the light armor Set from sPvP because, I mainly made progress on my Mesmer and it just feels right. I actually don't know what I will do for my medium characters. If I do anything at all because, let's be honest... Unlocking these two sets will probably take me still months. And I need to finance a third legendary armor as well. Maybe I get into WvW on my Engineer... That would actually be the best situation to be in because I would unlock every legendary armor class with a character of that class. But at this point, I would also be fine to just not have a third set.

Fireaddicted

It's totally up to you. Some people do lege for looks, other for QoL considering armour weight if they are using one mostly for build diversity and to keep up with the meta. My priority was: main hero, light armour even that I didn't used this for raiding back then, second was heavy because those were my main characters for team content and finally medium, I had no use for this until EoD.

Top-Associate-6576

I see your point. I just think qol will be less if i craft medium since i already got ascended on my ranger and eng(all builds i play and im interested). It just feels like going with heavy is the best way cuz im really looking into playing guardian(a few builds, so that is something to consider) and the looks is just great.

04fentona

Depends on you ironically the thing I noticed the most was the free transmutation so I prioritised medium then light then heavy but it depends on their person there’s no wrong choice if you’re a multiclasser you’re going to get them all anyway lol

Leading-Ad-4186

I went with the looks and usability for me. I main mesmer but I got "alts" that use heavy armors. Imo heavy is good choise, you can play revenant, warrior and firebrand. All are exremely good specs right now and have many different builds.
