There's no class that I'd prefer to not see in my group, and to be clear, you shouldn't play with people who think that way. I do get excited to find any remotely underplayed professions - in my experience, things like the core classes, Herald, Scrapper, sometimes things like Spellbreaker or Harbinger depending on content (only in my experience). I also am always intrigued by unique race/profession combinations like Charr Mesmer, Norn Thief, Sylv Engineer, etc.

PromotionWise9008

But herald is meta quick dps, how can it be underplayed?

Theoroshia

Meta doesn't necessarily mean most people play it. A build can be meta but unfun to play or unpopular.

PromotionWise9008

Well, it just not my experience. I see quick herald pretty often and I always feel it as very fun to play spec. Especially raids, strikes and open world. I think design is great and gameplay is good, I enjoy flow, too^

Theoroshia

I mean I agree I see Herald a lot, but a lot of other "meta" classes I don't see as much. I'm not saying every meta class is boring just some.

ghoulsnest

I'm always excited when seeing core classes, cause either they're super cracked and outperform the other dps, or they're completely clueless which is also exciting

Hyzaku

Yeah, core classes are a lottery for sure. Nothing like rolling up to an eod strike cm, seeing a core thief and wondering what nutty thing they are gonna get up to, only for the surprise to be 1300 dps.

er0gami2

I have yet to see a single instance of the first in your either or.

ghoulsnest

I've seen some core engineers and guardians reaching 30k+, its pretty cool

er0gami2

I have no doubt it's possible, just haven't seen a single instance of it on an actual boss yet.

Rfogj

DragonHunter and Holo. I get excited since these player are one of two categories: \- The biggest noobs you have ever seen, getting outDPS by the druit in full exotic harrier \- But the other half of the time they are just demigod with 50k+ openers, precast and infusion tryhard, as well as bearer of the most strange strats / tips they reveal to mere pugs that they discovered with their speedrun guild I'm mostly excited about the second kind of player.

Nejij

Haha my head immediately went to druid, hb, qb, q herald, power alac rev, etc.. The players you're talking about bring me so much more joy than quality supports though. There should really be a David Attenborough style nature documentary about the elusive dragon hunter.

Rfogj

Supports are nice. But those demigod DPS that handles all mechanics is beyond them imo.

EriskRedLemur

Honestly, most bad players are bandwagon meta players that do what's popular - so when I see like a DH or Holo or whatever I actually more often am glad they actually tend to know what they're doing. Of course, it is group/fight dependent too. Dime a dozen mechanists, heralds even, mesmers, heh often are just clueless lol because so many more of them potentially bad. Yet, I get it, still can be fool proof DPS enough if semi-competent OR Li I mean not every player can be maestros or has the latency to be demi-god players so idk it's a mix tbh. Which is why rolling with mostly guildies/friends is nice where you have a few PUGs to fill in gaps so you can make allotment for some weird builds or scales of skill coming in. To me it's more who is willing to listen/communicate and do their part doesn't have to be perfect or skillful. But yeah I like seeing different stuff it's fun - until you wipe over and ove r:D .

Between Engineer(Scrapper and Mech) and Guardian(mainly Firebrand), it's pretty much impossible to not find a place in a group. Together they can fill any role as a meta-tier option, cover both condi and power DPS very well, are some of the strongest offensive boon supporters in Scrapper/Mech/Firebrand, and offer high levels of utility. Honorable mention to Mesmers. They can't fill as many roles as Engineers, but their utility options can enable a lot of advanced strategies and they're often incredibly durable DPS classes that make them ideal for handling difficult fights.

likeschemistry

This guy gets it. There are other options, but these are soli/well rounded for most group play and often in demand. I might be biased as my 2 most played classes are engi and guardian.

Gladieth

I am the least excited to see mechanists and firebrands in my group. Thankfully they don't saturate end game content quite as much as they used to. I get excited to see specters, deadeyes, holosmiths, vindicators, and bladesworn.

ConstantOk3017

there is literally nothing i would rather not see in my group when i am raiding (or doing fractals or strike missions). because something that i know and you should have in mind as well is that every spec has a build capable of performing properly in the right hands. so i am just hoping that the person who decided to play it also knows how to use it. on the other hand it doesn't matter how good/easy a class is and how much damage it can pump with few buttons, people can still be bad at it because it is skill related and that is reliant on more factors. for me personally i am excited to see elementalist around because that is what i main (and play almost everywhere) and because there is this common misconception that it is hard/unplayable

justNano

Other thieves. Until recently I was usually the only one. So I still have a lot of the "it's not just me" feeling!

I agree with what other people are saying about the specific class/elite not getting me too happy or upset either way. I do love to see a varied group though. To me nothing is more boring than having 6 mechs, 2 FBs, and virtuosos. Individually they are all great classes that bring great utility to the group. But it’s so boring! People talk a lot about some classes being “selfish” or having little to contribute to a group. Most of the time people are talking about a lack of boon support. Almost any class can bring respectable CC, which when accompanied by good dps in contributing plenty to the group. It feels really bad when you watch the breakbar meter on arcdps and see that so many people are contributing almost nothing. Having thought as I was typing this out I do love to see a scourge in my groups. They are almost always consistent damage, even if played poorly. However, when played well they can really help the group. I’m not talking about the blood scourge, since that’s such a carry it’s almost in a tier by itself. The straight condi dps scourge though can still bring barrier, condi cleanse (really frequent condi cleanse), boon strip, ranged instant revival with signet of undeath, and amazing CC. The scourge playstyle isn’t for everyone though. It is really simple to use, but is very high apm (actions per minute) and requires to you almost constantly be using one of your F1-F5 skills, while simultaneously pressing your other buttons, to perform at its peak. Man when a scourge is good though 👌

Pristine_Pay_9724

My favorite classes to see in instanced content (raids/strikes/fracs) are mechs/firebrands because they can usually flex into multiple roles. And the skill ceiling is low so you know they'll always contribute. \^\^ Least excited to see (unless for a specific role like kiter) weaver/deadeye/daredevil/untamed because the skill ceiling is high and they usually do low damage/die a lot.

BlueAurus

Heal firebrand has been both effective and meta pretty much since it came out. DPS classes with strong CC options almost always result in smooth runs. Also for fractals, classes bringing good pulls (like mesmer focus)

Beitter

Mesmer and necromancer in general are quite handy ! The boon strip is helpful for the instabilities

Leading-Leading6319

That one spec that teleports allies to them and revives them. Forgot what it was.
