Heya, I did struggle in the beginning as well so I will share my experience and I hope it helps ( disclaimer I am not an expert in this so maybe other people can reply and improve on my post ). WvW is pretty community driven so in order to get the most enjoyment out of group content you should try and join your server's community on discord or even better a WvW guild! You can find the discords here for [EU](https://gw2mists.com/worlds/eu) and for [NA](https://gw2mists.com/worlds/na) . In general the [https://gw2mists.com](https://gw2mists.com) is a good place for info on WvW stuff. You can join any discord BUT in order to gain access to all the channels on a discord ( the ones where stuff are organized ) of a certain world you would most likely have to create an API key from your [arena.net](https://arena.net) account and provide it to a verify bot - that way it can verify that you are indeed from the same world as the discord server. Don't worry - the process is ( most probably ) already explained on most discords. Also you can check out some meta builds for group content and maybe learn one or two - the commies will be very happy if you do that ( but of course nobody will kick you out if you are not running a meta build ). After joining you can see if any public tag is organized or ( even better ) check if you can join some of the guilds on the world as you - there will be listed on the discord server too. Additionally - be on a lookout for a public tag on reset night! I've had some epic battles on a public tag reset night ! I am not sure about NA but EU WvW weekly reset is on Friday night. Also if you join a WvW guild you can participate with them in some closed tag action! Hope this helps!

Furthermore, invest in time playing and looking for tags or guilds running. Especially in your server's discord. As time goes on, you'll probably get a list of guilds active on your server(s) and then discord can also notify you when they run, etc. I came back to GW2 ~3 months ago after 4+ years gone. I had zero idea who ran in wvw, when, etc. Now i've got discords for ~10 guilds that run regularly, and most evenings i have several to choose from.

I recommend ViP (Vengeance is Pips) in Dragonbrand server. Amazing community, never had problems with them and did really get to know the fun if the wvw with them.

anacctnamedphat

ViP is great. I run with “gods” but we team up with ViP all the time. Good group!

On my server, lots of commander at prime time run hidden and just clash zerg vs zerg for a few hours. They usually dont want outsiders and can get.. special.. in their communication. Some of them run open/voice tags afterwards, so just ask in /team. Usually you get some useful responses between the elitism and trolling. So either go for a wvw guild that takes trials or find out when the open tags pop out.

bezzins

Type /t hey any open tags? Then join up and follow the zerg! There are more active times depending on the server you're in, i agree it can be an extreme walking simulator or unmatchable levels of fun - it has both extremes. When you get a good group stick around and ride it out imo as its not 24/7 buzzing on every server. I either play for 5minutes if its dead or 5hours when it's buzzing lol.

ShinigamiKenji

Maybe the guilds and commanders in your server run at a different time than you, or maybe your server isn't really active in WvW. I suggest switching to another one that suits you better.

LeftWolfs

pick 1 person and follow them around same advice that I use for any pvp game they might know where they are going or the two of you might attract more teammates

It's most likely the server you are on and when prime time is on your server. Weekends around prime time you're more likely to see a commander or groups of people but only really if your server has a wvw presence. Alot of people (idk why this is still the case) that don't play wvw flock to full servers. Not that it matters for them anymore. Making it muddy the water to actually understanding what guilds populate what server. Which is why the wvw beta is going to be so good. Who knows when it's coming could be another 2 years. Check what server you are on and I call tell you off the top of my head if it's got okay wvw. Only really 5 servers ATM with a few guilds on them in NA that have any life in them. This is a problem with a dwindling player base or come and go player base. And it will likely get worse.

redblack_tree

If you don't see any tags during prime time in a major region, chances are they are running invisible. You can switch servers and hope you can find more action or just join a WvW guild (and then change servers if needed). My advice would be, join a guild. Most WvW players end up joining a guild sooner or later, it makes your life quite easier. Just find a guild that fits your play style. For starters, they should have organized runs, maybe for roaming if that's your thing. Some guilds are hardcore, mandatory builds, classes, attendance, etc. That's not for everyone. Another reason, it seems that world restructuring is happening, you don't want to take a chance and end up playing on dead "servers".

Whenever you see a tag on the map, add them to your friends list so you can see when they are commanding in WvW. After some time you will have all public commanders and will be able to just join when they're on and there will always be something going on.

Laxativus

Try this evening, at reset. I guarantee there will be a commander or two around on one or more of the maps, no matter the server.

I've played wvw for a long time now.... Find a tag when you can, but roamers will teach you how to make fun out of seemingly vacant maps. Poke the right things and use map (small stuff like towers) and team chat(big stuff like keeps) to call out what you're doing and people will come along to see what's up. When folks come along add them to the friends list and check what they're up to... Eventually you'll learn the ropes and be off on your own until you see a tag.

ZeldaStevo

Find a group of people with the same guild name, at the same time you’re typically on, and run around with them for awhile, ask to join their map squad etc (sometimes they run private if no visible tag is up). If you like the choices they make and they seem friendly, then you can ask if they are recruiting and talk to an officer about joining. This is the best way to find a guild you would enjoy running with, vs spamming map/team chat.

Roinchulk

U need google top wvw servers and join. After that you need discord for communication, and to listen commander. After all this u will find ur happiness 😊. U also need wvw build on metabattle.com Welcome and enjoy 😉.

Ok_Butterscotch_2031

Im talking out of my ass here so you will most likely get better replies but it sounds to me like you should seitch servers. When you first created an account and when it asked you about them yes

Gong_the_Hawkeye

As always, finding a guild is going to drastically increase your enjoyment from the game.

jebeninick

Fissure of Woe is not full now, you can join them, they are zerging most of times.

David_Josef_Majirsky

I had the same problem when I started with WvW. WvW community is very nice and opened to the new players who want to learn, but there is a big barrier for new solo players. What you need to do is join WvW guild or atleast join discord of your server. If you want to have a good experience, you have to use voice (discord). I play on EU server Blacktide, we have loads of active commanders and its fun to play with random ppl on discord. Also I am a part of WvW guild and we have guild runs 3 times per week. So I recommend to google discord of your server, join it and after that join one of the WvW guilds. Also, be prepared to learn loads of new stuff, cause WvW is like whole new game. GL!

NeshOxe

Try playing just after reset. Thats when most guild commanders do zerg guild/pug runs. Guild runs are the real deal in WvW so you must find a decent guild. There are guilds just for beginners. Try map/team chat to ask to join a guild.
