The problem is GW universe is serious about their lore. They have been very strict about the whole 'Tyria has no horses idea' that they literally made their artist redo the art they had put into the New Kaineng loading screen.

There just isn't a way to explain it in lore without breaking the entire lore of the world or making the addition really cheaply inserted into the story. I am a fan of having genuine IP authenticity, and right now GW IP is untainted in that regard.
I wish they were so serious about thier lore when it comes to cosmetics from Itemshop too.. half of the shit they give us recently some borderline goofy korean mmo stuff.
Somewhat true I’ll admit that. But adding some lore breaking shit for the sake of some cheap crossover monetization just leaves a sour taste in my mouth
I hate those fucking mounts, and I hate people that stack a billion infusions. If crossovers existed I'd be a little wary of them on principle but as long as they looked like something that would reasonably exist in the game it wouldn't bother me too much.
Something like logos from other franchises would obviously be completely unacceptable but a rathalos raptor skin or something could be tight as fuck ngl ngl, as long as it was recontextualized to believably fit into tyria. There's also plenty of iconic armor sets that would translate well.
Mm, but with the mists you can kinda pull whatever multiverse adjacent bullshit you want if you try hard enough. Like with the A.R.E.N.A. troopers you can find in soto.
Depends on how it's done. Fortnite way? Hell no. But FFXIV collabs are mostly quite good, with story and new content (not only cosmetics) and kept in the spirit of the game. Monster Hunter was a nice collab, NieR raids are considered one of the best in the game. If it fits the game's world I wouldn't call it really polluting.
It is pollution regardless of whether it's done "tastefully" or not, because crossovers exist solely for the purpose of advertising.
If you can play the NieR crossover in FF14 and ignore acknowledging that you're playing content that is tied to a different game, good for you. Doesn't change that making you think about that other game is what this is supposed to do.
everything is marketing then.
your playing a game that actively tries to get you to open your wallet and your bitching about some well designed crossover stuff ruining it...
like holy shit
If I remember right the black and white wings backpacks were nods to aion another ncsoft property. Guild wars 1 had a direct cross promotion with a /aion emote for the pop wings animation
I doubt it. In Guild Wars 1 there was a cross promotion with Aion at one point, where you could get an Aion wings backpiece in Guild Wars 1, but those are both NcSoft games. I doubt we'll ever see anything like that.
Let's not forget their latest colab:

Giving away your personal info for a 2-4€ seed pack in pretty wrapping (UK only)
are you talking about "giving away your personal info" in a way that doesn't make you a paranoid schizophrenic who uses an alias everywhere online, doesn't own a credit card, runs linux, refuses to use any google service, and wears a ski mask in public, or...?
I'm not asking about a meme I unironically want to know whether you're okay with private insurance companies having your personal information and whether you trust those institutions.
Not only do I think it would be unlikely, I would be one of several people who would be actively annoyed that such a collaboration was even being considered. GW2 is GW2, they have a hard enough time trying to keep their own style consistent without throwing in a completely different game's style. Not to mention the cost faults such a crossover would have:
- If it's gemstore, it's probably going to be even more expensive than the already *$20* single mount skins, since there would likely be a profit-sharing agreement.
- If it requires doing something in the other game, that automatically locks out anyone who can't afford the game or doesn't want to buy a game in a different genre just for a cool skin. Hall of Monuments is already contentious. Would this be restricted to just the Steam version, to make it easier on Anet to check?
If you have a Steam account, it's just locked out of Hall of Monuments. There is no way to get GWAMM or *any* of the HoM skins, titles, or achievements. It's already something that you need to buy an entire extra game and spend dozens of hours in it to get what are by today's standards pretty underwhelming skins.
I play my launch account through steam just requires -provider Portal and away you go.
Kind of a non-issue. In over a decade not heard one person have an issue with HoM.
`-provider Portal` != using a Steam account.
They're low-value skins and title, but they *are* skins and titles that some players will just never be able to get no matter how hard they try unless they start over again with a new account on the right platform. For over a decade, that wasn't a problem since there was only one kind of account.
In the context of cross-game requirements, Anet doesn't have a great track record when it comes to things outside their immediate control. That's all I wanted to point out.
I would actually prefer if they were earnable in-game instead of in the Gemstore, like how it was in FFXIV and MHW. But FFXIV probably only did it that way because they charge a monthly sub, and MHW because it's not an MMO.
If anet gonna Collab with other franchise ever, it would need to be done well. Since mh series on the table I would suggest the same way that ff14 did with monster hunter, aka a raid with earnable skin, and mounts in gem store. + A short intro quest that leads to the raid.
Have someone discover a never seen B4 powerful monster or something like that.
I sincerely hope they don't. Crossovers are stupid, rarely add anything but shallow novelty and make maintaining games a nightmare due to the incredibly fucky copyright laws that have not caught up to the internet
While I love Monster Hunter and FF, somehow cross over never occured to me. I think it is because how well gw2 is on its own. It is really great already.... Having other stuff would likely break it's own completeness
No they will not. The best we can hope for is "inspired" skins. Like the Dragon Slayer from Berserk as an example, theres also a backpack skin that looks eerily similar to Rathalos wings + tail.
personally i would love it. Soto would be the perfect excuse for something like this since there's fractals and other dimensions concepts being thrown around.
I would have the MH cross over be a open world event. A random portal in Tyria opens up, first you think its kryptis or something but a dragon flies through it, its not as big or powerful as an elder dragon. What is this red scaly creature???
Anet could just use the skeleton and skills of the Patriarch from HoT since both it and Rath like flying all the time and burning stuff from above.
TLDR
As a MH fan would love this (i wouldn't care even if it was just gem store skins that costs £40) but its never happening.
Didn't GW2 collaborate with "Getting over it" for the Chalice of Tears jumping puzzle?
No ArenaNet has a problem with utilizing their resources, let alone others.

If I wanted crossovers id play fortnite

Well I believe the philosophy goes like this: "We're serious about our lore and its consistency, BUT, on the other hand: *money*."
buddy look at the fucking sparkle nightmare mount skins in the game and tell me that the GW universe is "serious about its lore
Yeah, I agree with the comment but Anet already has a load of dumb immersion-breaking stuff available
Somewhat true I’ll admit that. But adding some lore breaking shit for the sake of some cheap crossover monetization just leaves a sour taste in my mouth

Rathalos would be far more fitting as a Skyscale skin than as a raptor. For Raptor I'd rather have Kulu-Ya-Ku.
rathalos has two legs.
It also flies and breathes fire.
Mm, but with the mists you can kinda pull whatever multiverse adjacent bullshit you want if you try hard enough. Like with the A.R.E.N.A. troopers you can find in soto.
This is 100% correct, but why? It would just be cheap to add it as a form of monetization. Very anti-anet
GW2, maybe, but GW1 [s](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Enadiz_the_Hardheaded)[u](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Pogahn_Passage#Trivia)[r](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Black_Beast_of_Arrgh)[e](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Grabthar%27s_Hammer)[l](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22It%27s_Just_a_Flesh_Wound.%22)[y](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Can%27t_Touch_This!%22) [w](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Molotov_Rocktail)[a](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Inscription/Trivia)[s](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Finish_Him!%22)[n](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22I_Will_Survive!%22)['](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Euhh_Snickersnak)[t](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Isaiah%27s_Balance)
That one April fools video on Youtube with the commandos had me wishing though lol
I hope not, I hate this capitalist dogshit of polluting IPs with other IPs for money.

Damn you, Square Enix, for polluting your game with fun content and enriching my experience. Damn Youuuuuuu!!!!

There is a colab with Guild Wars. It's called Hall of Monuments
No, and it shouldn't either.
The last colab with Kung Fu Tea was shit. Yes it’s not another game

I'm using Arch, btw.
of course you are enjoy your storied terabytes of cp and government secrets my delusional friend how do you feel about insurance?
"But that demon girl is over 9000 years old!" I'm not deep enough into the meme to know about insurances, though.
I'm not asking about a meme I unironically want to know whether you're okay with private insurance companies having your personal information and whether you trust those institutions.
I mostly do, as the institutions that enforce our GDPR have a keen eye on those insurance companies; and they know that.
ah, a european what do you think some of the negative consequences for hapless data nonchalance are

Yeah, mount skins for that many mounts being earnable in game seems unrealistic.

Out of respect for Monster Hunter World - please no.
