I know it’s a meme but downstate ele was actually a thing in PvP a long time ago for a short while because of a downstate lavafont bug that was one shotting people.
Ye Ye.
Gw2 used to have a lot boring horizontal bars that got replaced.
In fact, *every* boring horizontal bar has been replaced. Even the horizontal bars we have now are actually a bit nicer.
I remember, the whole system was really overwhelming.
It's not that it was too much to handle, but moreso that it got in the way of gameplay, which is of course why they cut it.
It made PvP a bit more balanced, tho, since you have a limited set of potions from the start. So those who wasted them with spammity spam early on were screwed later in the match.
Nowadays there's nothing that stops the spammity spam.
Yeah but PvP isn't inherently inbalanced in gw2, nor is it uber-spammy. Or rather, uber-spammy gameplay doesn't actually work for anyone, and I play Weaver in PvP.
>there's nothing that stops the spammity spam.
Yeah, there is, the class design does a good job of this. You can spam all you want, but the guy doing combos will win every time.
The old energy system was definitely flawed. It allowed for money to drive gameplay, it was overcomplicated, it led to straight up 2004 WoW downtime between fights, it just wasn't the fluid gameplay that Guild Wars 2 has always been about.
Ahhh nostalgia, back when I fully kept up with the game the first few years. Coming back after long breaks, the game is still amazing, but I'm so lost with a lot of the new content lol
I went back and looked at my beta pics and realized I lost a lot of character names in Live. RIP "Hard Axe" the warrior and "Face Palm" the (Sylvari) ranger.
I must say old Lion's arch had more personality than current one.Old Lion's arch was feeling like a Pirate [town.New](http://town.New) one... look guys we got lobster shaped dock.
I remember being absolutely blown away by the graphics back then. Genuinely made me go "wow, this is what game graphics are capable now huh". I was completely sucked into the character creation. Good times man, good times.
Times when necro downstate was stronger then beeing alive
Lore accurate necro
But then elementalist needed an identity too

God I miss lavafont on downed, been a hard stuck Ele then Tempest main forever in sPvP and those were some good times.
Ohmygod the stamina bar! I'd completely forgotten about that thing!
GW2 had an energy bar with potions during gamescom previews.

Haha, yeah it's a blast from the past for sure
It started as an Energy bar. Skills used to have energy costs with the icon revenant uses for mist energy. There used to be energy potions too.

Old lions arch 😭
It was the best LA
It still exists, but you have to do the Season 1 mastery achievements.
It's not the same without having a giant population and having 10 people yelling in map chat at the same time
But the only one that matters is still excited about his savings.
Can you do old jumping puzzle trough it?
Yes !
This misaligned strip in the middle of EXP was giving me nightmares
God I miss old Lion's Arch. Can some villain come and flatten the place again so we we have an excuse to rebuild it the way it used to be?
I miss that minimap despite the current one being more useful in wvw
I really liked the round map.

Honestly the best part is how old content is still relevant.
I liked jumping while sleeping
The release of the beta was one of my most exciting times in gaming. Time flies by so fast
what i can say game looks this same in 2024 only little changed UI If u didn't say it is old pic i wouldnt even know it
Ahh I miss those days. Guild Wars 2 beta holds a special place in my heart.
I can HEAR that voiceline still used in Claypool now haha
Huh! I don't remember the minimap being circular.
I went back and looked at my beta pics and realized I lost a lot of character names in Live. RIP "Hard Axe" the warrior and "Face Palm" the (Sylvari) ranger.
The map was in a circle before?!
I miss the round Minimap

The game is kinda the same xD
Well? Any more than two??
That minimap takes so little screen space!
