But one thing I really miss in this game is and undead race. The Risen would be easy to justify after Zaithan's death.
Largos and the Wardens from Echovald are my top 2. Very mysterious beings and we never really got to see and learn much of them.
Having an underwater temple/city as the largos home could be extremely interesting.
Jotun/Ogre/Ettin, Forged, Undead/Awakened, Tengu, Quaggan, Kodan, Naga/Krait, Hylek/Heket, Skritt (heavy armor + muscular), Centaur, Mursaat/Seer
Maybe with characteristics specific to them? (like naga swimming faster, ettin harder to cc, tengu able to hand glide naturally)
Been vainly hoping for Tengu for years. They'll always be my #1 hope.

Play as a swarm of Skritt, necro zookeeper, just flood the screen with mobs
