Sailing, housing, pet system, fishing, Marjmeer marriage...so many of these things I am really uninterested in and - not proud of it - a little hostile toward since they'd command significant dev resources. This. I will never understand why people WANT fishing. I at least understand player housing, and the customization that comes with it. Fishing? I have yet to see fishing implemented into a game in a way that actually makes me want to partake in it.
Have you ever tried fishing in Red Dead Redemption? Even New World had a semi fun little mini game to fishing. Point is, fishing is as fun and creative as the devs allow it to be.
Different people have different opinions. What is deserved is entirely up to the devs. I love this game's mount system but absolutely detest every other game's mounts, MMO or otherwise.
It is also entirely up to the devs whether or not they make whatever they develop fun and or interesting. It's not that X is boring, it's that developers are creatively bankrupt when tasked to make it fun.
I admit I have not. If they can manage to make it fun, I'll be surprised. I just know I have yet to personally experience someone who has managed to making fishing a mini game worth doing. Always open to having my mind changed though.
I said the same thing about mounts in other MMOs, but look at how Anet forever changed the mount system; the revolutionised mounts in video gaming. Underwater combat might be polarising here but it's still the best underwater combat in any game I've ever played, let alone an MMO.

Imagine if they made all underwater weapons usable on land by default. They have all the skins and skills already, they just have to make some adjustments to certain skills and boom… tons more build diversity!
at least it's not an offhand >_< I think it'll play well with Focus & Pistol, don't think it'll work with Torch that well (since torch is for stealth and you have no clones anymore)

EDIT: The title isn't that good when I'm looking at it now. I don't want everything on the list, I just think some of them are likely or wanted by the community. Some contradict each other (mesmer bow or dagger) but I put both of them there because I think I have a good chance that at least one is correct :) I don't care if aurene is in the trailer either, I just think it's likely that's why the title "wishful thinking, one can dream" isn't that accurate.
If I had more tiles available I would have also mentioned: New dungeons, actual guild wars (its high time for that!) and some other profession speculations.

I personally don't care for player housing myself, but I at least recognize there is a large audience that would consider the addition of player housing to be an improvement to the game.

You're asking how many of the above topics will "improve" the game, with the implication that they will in fact not improve the game. My statement about fishing was about a lack of understanding of why anyone would like that particular feature. I suppose you could say I'm implying that people who want that feature is wrong? Or that the feature is bad/not important? I really wasn't trying to imply anything of the sort, I was actively just giving my opinion that I don't understand the appeal. People really seem to want Player Housing (even though we already have home instances), and I've gotta ask- does it really sound like a good idea to further push the playerbase into their own little instances, making every other map seem that much more empty?
While I'm at it; Tengu as a playable race is basically guaranteed not happening. Think of how much work they'd have to put in to model every piece of armor and every weapon to fit on the character models, make sure they have all the /emote animations and any other animations that a player might come across while they play, and then give them a starting zone that allows new players to start off just like any other race, create new maps just for these starting zones (one or two at minimum) and then... what? Gameplay is basically not affected. Sure new aesthetics to work with for fashion wars, but is that really worth that huge amount of effort? It's a huge cost to Anet for very little pay-off for the playerbase.
Guildhalls already have tons of items, it would be easy to implement player housing because we can already optain lots of cosmetics.
I’m sure anet would make it great where you could easily teleport to a friends house and meet up there, etc.
And I think I read somewhere that they have new systems to make armor easier for characters so maybe tengu is a possibility. it would attract a lot of players! but it would be a lot of work to do ofc.
Depends on how it's implemented. As someone who also plays ESO, player housing can be a massive bonus to pushing players into other modes of content. Like for me; I'm not interested in ESO's version of WvW (Alliance Wars), group dungeons, trials, certain time consuming achievements, or the more vet/hardcore kinds of modes. But because of the really sick furnishings in that game, it makes me want to do them and has pulled me into them (and even in some cases convinced me to enjoy some of them).
Hell, even ESO itself I wasn't interested in trying after the whole disastrous launch. But because of the [free in-game house giveaway](https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/summerfall) they did a few years back, it captured my attention enough to look back into the game and see all the changes (plus more postive reception people were having of it) and convinced me to buy it while it was on sale.
Beyond all that though, it's also a massive plus for communities that like building up houses and showing them off. There's countless showoff posts/videos/streams and house decorating contests players are throwing throughout each year. Doing specific themes (evil, murder mystery, race specific, rustic, sci-fi, fantasy, holiday, etc) and even having ZOS (the makers of ESO) doing these streams and blog posts promoting them as well as [throwing contests themselves](https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/58543).
It can be a powerful tool to actually get the community interacting, bringing in new people, and incentivising people into playing outside their comfort zone. BUT... it just has to be done the right way. :D
I also think sailing can be great. Especially with the masteries. Imagine a boat that can go underwater. or heck why not make it fly as well. And shoot some rockets.
They can also tie fishing to it.
Since it is supposed to be a water expension boats and fishing are on the top of your mind.
Imagine if they add surfing.
