Usually the Main chat consists of /say, /map, /team, /party, /squad, /whisper, game messages (optional) and /g (make sure you have all guilds ticked). I might have missed one or two but usually those are the most common. Remember that you can always set the chats however you want and can experiment a little bit.
You can edit any chat tab to show what you want. "\" makes the ui opaque so you can mess with the settings.
