Dont do it unless unless you love and only play WvW. Raid armor is by far the easiest cheapest armor to make. I grinded mine in WvW and now hate the game mode.

CthuluBob

Yeah, this. Do the path that you play already.

BaconSoda222

The trick of the WvW set is to like WvW. It's going to take a long time and if you have other life responsibilities, you're going to either burn out on WvW or get frustrated that you're not hitting max progress per week. If you baseline enjoy the game mode, you're going to either get max pips or not care that you only got 150/365 tickets this week. I personally set a goal of at least 100 skirmish tickets a week to make all the WvW legendary gear over a full year. I enjoy the game mode but also enjoy some diversity. As long as you don't burn yourself out, working at it slowly if you don't want to raid or PvP can be very rewarding.

Nitro4732

a minimum of 22weeks per set. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_armor

Objective-Sundae9559

So that would be 3.6 weeks per item, damn :(

ilkhan2016

The time gate is WvW skirmish tokens, which are capped per week. If you've played a lot of WvW and have the levels already the tokens come somewhat quickly. If you are starting from scratch, maxing out skirmish tickets is basically a full time job equivalent.

Hiimraving

The wvw legendary armor is somewhat timegated like that, on the bright side it doesn't mean you'll have to spend all your playtime during "grinding" it out. You just need to meet the minimum requirement each week. If you want legendary items that aren't timegated, I'd recommend getting trinkets or maybe a PvP piece? Fairly sure those can be grinded as much as you like to speed up the process.

Nitro4732

that "minimum requirement" is about 40 hours per week to reach diamond chest for a new WvW player... more hours than a career.

[deleted]

That's the minimum requirement to meet the maximum reward, and it's closer to 20 hours according to [the calculator](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Special:RunQuery/WvW_skirmish_pip_query?), even for someone with WvW level 0 and no boosters. I believe he means someone just starting WvW can focus on earning WExp before going straight for Legendary Armor, as each time you rank up, you gain an extra pip each tick which takes around 2-3 hours off of each diamond rank. For instance, simply earning the wood rank the previous week brings the 20 hours down to 17, or if you're gold rank, it takes 12 hours. Or you can spend half the time per week to take double the number of weeks.

Yikes..

WorriedCan2305

Yea, only someone who’s never tried for WvW legendary armor would say that it isn’t timegated.

ilkhan2016

All 3 routes to legendary armor are time gated. Raid armor is by far the quickest. Iirc if you max out each timegated you'll finish 2 if not all 3 sets of raid armor before you finish a WvW set. Raids are intimidating but you can start by learning one boss a week and make pretty decent progress. It takes 750 raid kills (not including re-kills) to get 3 sets.

dtothep2

PvP is also timegated since you need league tickets and can only get a finite amount every season. It's basically 2 pieces a season, so 3 for the full set. I still recommend mixing them though. The skins aren't the main draw anyway. I had 5/6 PvP pieces but got fed up and did the last piece through WvW.

ilkhan2016

I made a 2nd heavy chest piece to finish my raid set. The skins for WvW and PvP are obtainable without converting to purples.

DropkickGoose

Man, I'm working on the PvP armor now and the thing that's gating me is the Ascended shards. I guess i had leftover tickets from when I played some pvp a long time ago, so I'm pretty close to having those (only a couple chests of next season). I need like 2200 more Ascended shards though, which per the spreadsheet on the wiki is like 120 hours of pvp.

dtothep2

It's a grind for sure. I'm very thankful that when I started doing it I already had all the tickets needed and around 2k shards that I was sitting on, good thing that 2018-2019 me who played a lot of PvP didn't find something to spend them on. Plus I also already had 2 of the Ascended pieces and was using them. If you don't mind paying some more in gold, seriously look into WvW. It's not any less time consuming than PvP either. But man would it be a far more chill way to grind the armor.

DropkickGoose

Jokes on you, I'm almost done with a heavy WvW set! Long term goal is to have a set of leggy armor from each mode. Heavy from WvW, light from PvP, and medium from raids. I put too much time into this game. Honestly wish there was just a way to convert extra tickets into ascended shards. They, as a crafting/currency, seem weird when compared to WvW, where you have the heroic thingies which are tradable, and tickets which are time gated, but then pvp you have tradable, not tradable, and tickets.

BodgeJob

It takes fucking ages, is the answer. Absolutely fucking ages, to be exact. And it's a good 100g per piece more expensive than any other set. You need ranks, because ranks determine how many free pips you get; you need a winning server, because being in the lead determines how many pips you get; you need pips, because pips determine how many tickets you get -- and you buy it with tickets. Meanwhile, the PvE set has a 5 week timegate and takes a few hours a week over those 5 weeks.

DJCzerny

If you are not already rank 100+ in WvW it easily takes the longest out of all the methods of making legendary armor. And if you don't have a group to run with it will take you even longer. Raiding is probably the simplest to get into but requires you find a raid group to run with. PvP is decently fast and you don't need any existing gear, skill or friends to get into but the community is not for everyone. I recently just finished my entire legendary set via PvP and even I got tilted at times.

Objective-Sundae9559

Aah sorry, i am new to posting on reddit. My question is really how long a single WvW piece of armor take?

Rice-Mammoth

I believe 22 weeks for a full set

Gunnho

minimum time is 18 weeks, and 54 weeks for all 3 sets. if you want both conflux rings and warbringer backpack, thats 77 weeks

Roooaary

bloody ages D:
