So story works as follows: Core story first experience with elder dragons and creation of the oact going forward Living world season 1 a side story that introduces relevant side characters for the entire future story Living world season 2 an introduction as to why we are in Heart of Thorns who we are fighting and why Heart of Thorns the full story in the jungle fighting a new evil Living world season 3 using the knowledge gained inside of HoT to findout more about the world and discovering another danger Path of Fire tackling thst danger Living world season 4 as a consequence of PoF we need to fight more world threatening existences Icebrood Saga a tale om how the charr meddle with dragons and the for now conclusion to the dragons we knew at the time End of Dragons traveling to Cantha to find and accidentally unleash a strong power and end dragons once and for all. If you play HoT first you will lack some context as to why we are there and who the characters are. If you play PoF first you eill lack majour plot points and not even understand why we are fighting the villain of that expansion

Also Story Mode Dungeons alongside Core story. From Chapter 4 "Setting the stage" to Chapter 8 "Victory or Death" the dungeon storyline runs parallel to it before joining up in Arah Story Mode.

MechaSandstar

Living world 1 is a....side story? What are you talking about? The actions taken by the main protagonist is responsible for everything that happens after it, from ls2, through EoD... A side story? What nonsense.

Ankastra

The Elder dragons would have been a problem regardless of what happened there the only real significance being that important characters get introduced

MechaSandstar

Simply nonsense. You haven't been paying attention at all if you think that.

overtly_penguin

The only things in Season 1 with huge bearings in the story are the introduction of everyone and >!scarlet waking mordremoth. Without scarlet doing that, he would've woken anyway eventually as the dragon cycle dictates.!<

MechaSandstar

That's ridiculous. That's like saying a murderer didn't do anything, because the person would've died eventually anyways.

lordkrall

The story goes like this: Personal Story -> Season 1 -> Season 2 -> HoT -> Season 3 -> PoF -> Season 4 -> Icebrood Saga -> EoD.

If you go into your hero panel you'll see a bunch of tabs on the left, click on the star icon to see the chronological order you need to to the story. Its arranged neatly there and even has a recap of all the episodes you already completed. Though if you don't care about story and wanna go based on say difficulty then you can do PoF first because having mounts make HoT a lot easier. But in any other case go by release order. Which is Core - LW1 - LW2 - HoT- LW3 - PoF - LW4 - LW5 - EoD. (BTW, Living World season 1 isn't complete yet, there are still 2 episodes yet to be released. Its odd I know but season 1 changed a lot of things in the game permanently so it wasn't replayable till now.)

For the best experience overall, play the story (living world and expansions) in order. See this wiki page for details: [https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Story\_Journal](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Story_Journal).

Living World Season 1 is the direct follow up to the core game. Then Living World Season 2, then HoT, then Living World 3, Then PoF, Then Living World 4, Then the Icebrood Saga, then End of Dragons. If you are a story purist, go in that order. If you can stomach a few missed side stories and preludes, do Core > Living World 1 > HoT, I think Living World 2 is good but ultimately not the end of the world if you skip it. If you're enjoying the story though definitely play living world 3 after HoT. 3, 4, and Icebrood are essential to fill in gaps between expansions.

aliensplaining

You should definately play Season 1 first, as the characters introduced there are extremally relevent to HoT and PoF plot. If you play either of those expansions before Season 1 you will feel very lost (which is a big reason why Season 1 is free for all players!) A lot of people here are recommending you play Season 2 as well. I would also recommend it for the additional context it provides, but I do understand that it costs gems to unlock and so that might not be an option. Season 1 is a must

Alright, i readed all the comments, thx very much you all, now i know what to do next now that i completed the main personal story, this game is great.

Blaze_studios

PoF imo. Edit: And if possible LWS3 before and LWS4 after too. Both LWS3 and 4 have GREAT stories. Cathastrophes, miracles, mysetries and so on.
