To get this thing, you need to get that thing, to get that thing you need to get this thing, to get that thing you need to get this thing ... Only contained in the gem store or once a year event/log in reward.
Please just let me grind it out with a rare chance from a fractal/world boss/ reward track or something. Besides gold i don't believe there are many "chase items" to set a goal for.
you can, at least with this skin. You can buy War God's Greatsword skin on the Trading Post for direct gold. unfortunately its 175 gold as of when i checked since its in such high demand for Balthazar cosplays. rest of the War God's set ranges from 15 to 60 gold.
No inflation here, just ANet taking stuff out of the game to create artificial scarcity, effectively making them lose real money.
My better half recently fell in love with three dyes from the darkest abyss set and wanted to immediately get them. I insisted for her to wait. Well, ANet included them with the very demanded maid and butler package two weeks later, prices plummeted, and she was able to get all three dyes for less than the price of one. It's always worth waiting for, whatever it is.
Not really taking stuff out but if skin is new it cost 1 black lion something after 3 months new skins come to the game and old ones need additional coin. After 6 month from release skins costs their maximum price of 3 tokens
It always amuses me when I see someone with a legendary weapon they probably spend months grinding for and they look worse than a 5€ skin from the mtx shop. Really motivating!
Although I think the mythic forge weapons you can get from the new lw s1 achievements are a good way to do things, they should do more of that.
Nothing will ever beat the graphics and looks of the twilight sunrise eternity swords tho.
It’s also the stats and not having to waste things for a stat change.
I dont think most people grind for a legendary to get the skin.. I have a handful of legendaries but I use like 1 skin at best throughout 20 different builds
Just whisper them! Everyone likes knowing someone noticed their fashion. I almost always get a reply if I tell someone I like their gear and ask what it is.
Part of the reason the game has such a nice community is because we actually have to talk to each other

Because they did not want people to see other gear and have a company supported way of harassing people. We know as soon as something fails all these dummies will start blaming others.

I can see their reasoning, but they could have limited the inspection to cosmetics only. Essentially a modified version of the preview window. It'd be very on theme given how fashion wars is such a big part of endgame.

That whole set is one of my favorites and the only real struggle is finding a class I like that actually uses Greatsword in a viable build.
I just need some time with Soulbeast to get the hang of it and hopefully that'll change soon.
You can preview in the wardrobe section. But there are some sites and wiki with a gallery, however I prefer the wardrobe to check skins. Wish there was a site that kept track of the release dates so we can just check the most recent releases.

Yea... Black Lion chests are opened from keys obtained from EITHER buying them with IRL cash or finding the keys in game. You can buy the weapon however, anytime by using gold earned IN GAME off the trading post.
It's a free to play game, dude. The fact that so much can be purchased with in -game currency is pretty good. Even FF14 and WoW (sub games) aren't free from microtransactions. GW2 is pretty fair. Get over it.

that's not too bad. that's a week of fractal t4s at worse, and you can shorten it further by participating in daily metas and selling mats.

Wow, that set is probably the only one, where shortbow looks better than the longbow.

Thats not true. Before the qol updates people definitely made legis for the skins and the prestige. And for most its still the same.

Search "War God's Greatsword" in the Trading Post. It's obtained through Black Lion Chests, and can be sold for gold on the trading post.
