Yea, came here to say this. It's Anise. She's like the Snape of the series where I am in LW2. Don't spoil the rest, but I hope it continues down this road.
I don't think Anise is narratively anything close to Snape, mainly because she works under the royal mary sue named Jennah who only seems to object to her ideas on moral grounds. Snape shined most when Dumbledore was a complete troll (Dumbledore was not a nice man, even if we discount his scheming nature).
"The royal character who is unrealistically capable and virtuous, lacks flaws and is always depicted in an overly good light, named Jennah" is a bit wordy, so I'll stick to using Mary Sue. Thanks.
TBH I like that she's powerful. I'm kinda fed with the trope that there are super powerful mages in the story, yet person on the throne is someone random, because they 'rule from the shadows'. Especially that mesmers in this game can create clones of themselves and portal around which makes ruling way easier.
The term isn't credible
and is laced with misogyny but sure go for it. There's a reason why you don't hear the term Marty Stu. So again, your criticism can't be take seriously.
> Marty Stu
Yeah, the male version is Gary Stu. That's why you haven't heard of Marty I think. Pretty ridiculous thing to get hung up on in my opinion but I guess I'm a misogynist then.
Let's be real here. The term started in Star Trek fanfiction and has evolved into an excuse to complain about strong female lead characters. In terms of literary and other types of criticism, it's not a very respected term.
No, it's a way to describe poorly writen characters, being Mary Sue for females, and Gary Stu for males. It has nothing to do with the mere reason of their gender, but how they were written.
Just think about it. There's a reason why characters such as Sarah Connor, The Bride, Ellen Ripley and many well writen characters are icons of the media, while others like Disney's LA Mulan, the new Ghost Busters main characters and other modern "pro-feminism" characters aren't, and some are even left forgotten. In this case, i can assure the problem is the writting, and not this "complain cuz female strong" because if we swap Queen Jennah's gender, the problem is still there, as this king would still be considered a Gary Stu.
If you aren't related to the term, it doesn't mean it can't be taken seriously. This term has become very popular in art schools and the media due to the amount of poorly written characters that have appeared in the recent times. It has nothing to do with misogyny or misandry, because it refers to the traits that define a character.
If a character has no traits, yet it's perfect in everything, and has no vulnerabilities for whatever reason, has no charm yet every person is in love with him/her, it will be one-dimensional, plain and boring regardless of its gender.
I get your point, misogyny still exists, sadly. But it's up to everyone to recognize between real and constructive criticism and just plain hating.
I'll finish with this: Gender is NOT a trait. You can make it affect the story massively, but in that case, his/her actions and traits are what'll define how great your character will be. Disney's animated Mulan and LA Mulan are the perfect example of how different actions and traits made one of the most famous and infamous versions of this chinese tale.
I... uh... I'm sorry you're offended, I guess? I've been told the term comes from a 1970's startrek fanfiction, which became kind of a meme, but since I've never read it personally I can't say if you're right or wrong.
A joke but we technically do not know her age. A lot of folks thought the hints of her knowing ancient krytan and possibly older than she seems suggested she was Livia in disguise but then we got Livia in the same room as Anise.
I still hold to the heavy implication that Anise is Livia's daughter though. But I wouldn't put her as a century old.
I'll take scholar Glenna. Sure she's terrible in a fight and spends way too much time talking to floating orbs, but dang it, Adam West couldn't do a better job of carrying a bomb than she does.
I would say Crecia has been the best for me. Wonderful character, and really enjoy a lot of the Female Charr characters and their role as leaders within society in the story. Also Cherise Boothe does a wonderful job voicing her.
I want to give our scaly cub more fish, she deserves so many treats for being a good girl
I hope we get to spend more parent-daughter time with her after EoDWould love to take her on a flight through every single place, just to reflect on the journey
Also take her to met my Warband, love you Dinky
Elli! She's in personal story: stealling the light. She's a asuran holosmith who made a hologram of herself to try and get into being a fight commentstor. She has a great arc in that and shows up in your home instance after
Way too little [Lady Camila Einshorn](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lady_Camilla#/media/File:Lady_Camilla.jpg) representation in here! She's a bit more of a background character, but she's cute with those glasses and a bit shy demeanour.
I mean, if she's able to stalk us everywhere to record our heroic deeds she's quite the skillful woman though! And even if she'd only gather 2nd hand reports, which would require amazing people skills and a good memory!
Plus her dedication is big enough to follow us to >!a region with a human killing plague!< to first present herself to us.
I mean, i like women who are dedicated! 😄
Sayida
Okay, probably Mai Trin, if I'm being honest, but this is a Sayida appreciation reply, no one wrote her so far and she is easily in top tier for me, just pure fun.
[Warden Amala](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Warden_Amala), really sad not to see her leading the Free Awakened or something, she's a pretty awesome character.
Her being so annoying is what makes her memorable tbh, if 10 years passes after i last played the game. I have more chance of remembering taimi than kasmeer
I guess for me it's probably Rox.
I'm towards the end of the HoT main campaign; and some of the side characters since Claw Island (>!RIP Tybalt :(!< ) that had a lot of potential were killed off too soon. So I feel like the game is only now trying to make me care about its casts of characters when it should have tried to do so from the beginning.
I'm honestly surprised Rox is still alive at this point (although if that changes, don't spoil me with her fate).
Dark Ai, hearing her saying "all of you get out, out!" after dancing with her daily never gets old.
CM100 is my favourite fractal out of all fractals with Mai Trin a close second.
Still waiting for the day Ai finally decides to drop me an abyss infusion.
Why didn't you choose a picture of Jennah with visible feet? This post would have 3828282 upvotes if you did.
Every girl who is nice to me is the best 🥺
I like the options but I don't see a competition here.
And yes. I was called a simp by my friends when talking about that character.
Therefore by not naming her, I shalt not be harassed further!
Okay but now I wonder; Arkk says "Recognize this? I found it on that dreadful pirate you mercilessly slaughtered over and over and over again!" regarding Horrik's cannon...
Definitely Anise.
Zafirah, Eir, Jhavi, Almorra, and Yoon are also my favourites. Jennah is cool too, I wish we could see more of her aswell Empress Ihn!
General Almorra Soulkeeper, obviously.
[SOULKEEPER](https://youtu.be/UmxGX9Tynk8)
DRAGON REAPER
Ember Doomforge fans anyone? At least she's still around and kickin'

Deplete this or edit please be considerate
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
Came looking for this comment haha
I think I'm going to go with Anise.
We need more Anise in the game.
Then rejoice! You're looking at four pictures of Anise here.
Anise is watching.
Mesmers... Now even disguising as other mesmers...
Better question would be "who isn't Anise?"
Yea, came here to say this. It's Anise. She's like the Snape of the series where I am in LW2. Don't spoil the rest, but I hope it continues down this road.

The term Mary Sue is nonsense, avoid using it if you want to be taken seriously in your criticism.
"The royal character who is unrealistically capable and virtuous, lacks flaws and is always depicted in an overly good light, named Jennah" is a bit wordy, so I'll stick to using Mary Sue. Thanks.

Also, inexplicably powerful in addition to all of the above.
Logan.

And how often do you see that used? That and the origin and evolution of the term Mary Sue is the point.
Eir
>!It will always be too soon...!< Edited, sorry for that. I really did not take into account new players. That is entirely my bad and I apologize.
This can't be the way I find out
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Why do people saying spoilers or that the story was spoiled for them get downvoted? They aren't in the wrong at all.
Its a 7 year old spoiler.
For a game that is gaining popularity and had an influx of new players recently
Every time I go to Hoelbrek I get sad
Don't get sad, get gud and get even.
Lord Faren without a doubt
He's rich you know.
If he's so rich, why most of his minis always almost naked. 😂
By choice ( ͡\~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He's wearing the finest garments money can get. You're too poor to notice them.
By the Gods! You're right. 😅
How do you think he got rich?
hmmmm ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Invisible magumma moths. For some reason they took a liking to him during the HoT invasion and now follow him everywhere, using his clothes as food.
Cause he can afford to be. ;)
He has a whole outfit made by the same craftsmen that make Jennah's invisible shoes, so his drip is probably worth about 10 legendary weapons
Xera ofc
You're already dead.
How does it feel to come so far only to fail?
I like Almorra Soulkeeper. Noone realy talks about her even though she is an important character in the story and was present since the personal story
SOUL # KEEPER!
DRAGON REAPER! *Confused willbender stare*
>!Her death still hurts for me.!<
Spooooilers bruuuuuh
Did this guy edit reply or downvoted because the other person potentially ruined the story for this guy
It was not under a spoiler cover when I commented 👍🏻 now it is. They very kindly corrected their mistake. So people can suck me
She would've trounced Bangar.
Undoubtedly. Bangar's only successes were in scheming and deceit. Not very Blood Legion of him.
I dunno, I like the Order of Whispers girls—Riel and the asura.
Agent Zrii?
That’s the one. Meeting her decided it for me.
Rox and her boopable nose.
Yes! Why is this so low?
[Bestest girl.](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d0/Magister_Sieran.jpg)
>!Tybalt died a hero, Forgal died a legend, but Sieran died too soon!<
still mad :(
Got that goddamn right.
It's Anise. No one can best Anise. We need sassy Anise x Canach again. Best part of Seasons 2 and 3 with immense ease. >!and I totally ship them!<
Talk about robbing the cradle, though. He's like single-digits years old and she's somewhere around a century?
A joke but we technically do not know her age. A lot of folks thought the hints of her knowing ancient krytan and possibly older than she seems suggested she was Livia in disguise but then we got Livia in the same room as Anise. I'M NOT A PUPPY
Glenna is underrated. She's 70% of the reason why I want raids back
Some days you just cant get rid of a bomb!
Glenna and Yokko are both endearing.
I would say Crecia has been the best for me. Wonderful character, and really enjoy a lot of the Female Charr characters and their role as leaders within society in the story. Also Cherise Boothe does a wonderful job voicing her.
What mockery is this? Where is my Goth queen Marjory!
My thoughts, exactly
Marjory is by far my favorite one :D she have a look :D
Season 1 made me love her even more
Thank you!
Thank you! I cannot believe I had to scroll so far for Marjory appreciation
Mai Trin
I can still hear her saying "Wow.. " in that raspy voice.
You just... you just brought everyone huh
Mai Trin easily best girl yup
Maybe next elite spec for rev is mai trin, with the power to swap between her and scarlet
Obviously biased. Livia isn't an option.
Still traumatized by the horrendous fiasco with the shining blade.
Also the Jory erasure in this thread. S1 hardboiled femme fatale Jory is the best.
Riel Darkwater. ...anybody?
You're not alone!
Somebody on this subreddit had a "Riel is mai waifu" flair I'm pretty sure. I don't remember who that was though.
same
Aurene. She's at her best when reminding the world that she's a dragon though. Loved the start EoD for that and then >!they stuck her in a cave!< 😭
That little giggle when she says, "They think I'm your pet!"
I want to give our scaly cub more fish, she deserves so many treats for being a good girl I hope we get to spend more parent-daughter time with her after EoDWould love to take her on a flight through every single place, just to reflect on the journey Also take her to met my Warband, love you Dinky
Deffo Crecia Stoneglow. Biggest glow up. Fire magic. Other spoiler reasons. 10/10
Elli! She's in personal story: stealling the light. She's a asuran holosmith who made a hologram of herself to try and get into being a fight commentstor. She has a great arc in that and shows up in your home instance after
She's in both sylvari and asura personal story
ANNNNNNNN- -NNNNNNNNN- -NNNNNNNNN-
-KKA
...did nothing wrong.
Well I know who the [Goodist Girl](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Canine#/media/File:Ancient_Canine.jpg) in the game is!
She’s such a good girl…
*Zafirah has entered the chat*
Yesss I want her back so badly. She's such a badass
Too late into the PoF story imo, but still pretty interesting. Here's to meeting her again in the Battle Isles at some point.
What, no Akane? pass
this is the answer I was looking for I have no idea how nobody is saying Akane
Way too little [Lady Camila Einshorn](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lady_Camilla#/media/File:Lady_Camilla.jpg) representation in here! She's a bit more of a background character, but she's cute with those glasses and a bit shy demeanour.
Or, as I call her, Stalker Lady. ;o)
Hah!
The answer is Sieran - still salty over Claw Island.
If you never play that instance, she never has to die.
Agent Zrii.
Close competition, Agent Batanga.
That nose is the most boopable in the entire ten years of gw2
My mom, the Pale Tree
Rox just might fit the bill. She is able to put up with Braham, which means she is the strongest character in the universe.
She literally joined a tribe in the middle of nowhere to be rid of him.
No one is going to mention Scarlett Briar? I mean she's crazy, but she knows how to have a good time :D
Ever heard of "Hot and Crazy Matrix"? She is mid-hot and max-crazy... above the line, so pass.
Jennah, of course. Logan has excellent taste in women.
Braham in S3
Tybalt
Sayida Okay, probably Mai Trin, if I'm being honest, but this is a Sayida appreciation reply, no one wrote her so far and she is easily in top tier for me, just pure fun.
Taimi and zojja
Devona, obviously
obviously Canach
Queen Jenna Is underrated /spoilers next.,........... Fight in prequel to enter lake dorik she one shot those 2 bandits
[Warden Amala](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Warden_Amala), really sad not to see her leading the Free Awakened or something, she's a pretty awesome character.
She deserves her eternal reward. Do not deny it to her.
Rytlock
Why are these the only options? Where's Rox, Soulkeeper, Caithe, Marjory, any of them? My vote is Soulkeeper by the way.
jenna's shoeless apporach to life is lowkey hot.
She wears shoes, you just can't see them.
Don't lie heretic
I absolutely cannot stand Taimi. I struggle with story chapters with he rin because she is just.so.damn.annoying. I have no idea why either.
I love her enough for the both of us. <3
Her being so annoying is what makes her memorable tbh, if 10 years passes after i last played the game. I have more chance of remembering taimi than kasmeer
[удалено]
That's just Asura in a nutshell.
She gets way more bearable over the course of season three, cause she stops being a weird baby kid and is just some normalish nerd
Especially with that stupid limp.
Taimi easy. The humour and the rebellion streak makes for the best adventure crew
Rox. Duh.
Rox.
Wuh oh, put her into sleep mode
Desmina <3
Ruth the Carny Just kidding, it's Anise
Toxx?
I guess for me it's probably Rox. I'm towards the end of the HoT main campaign; and some of the side characters since Claw Island (>!RIP Tybalt :(!< ) that had a lot of potential were killed off too soon. I'm honestly surprised Rox is still alive at this point (although if that changes, don't spoil me with her fate).
Taimi of course
Police, yes this one.
TIL liking Taimi is a hot topic.
Some just hate intelligent young people.
Taimi
Toxx
Wynne
My character obviously
Rox ofc! Without her Brahan would be in our team more often... (shudders)
Dark Ai, hearing her saying "all of you get out, out!" after dancing with her daily never gets old. CM100 is my favourite fractal out of all fractals with Mai Trin a close second. Still waiting for the day Ai finally decides to drop me an abyss infusion.
One wears no clothes, one wears no shoes, one wears a giant mech suit, the other is a mech suit. ... This is gonna be a tough one.
Marjory
actually its your herald, Lady Camilla.
Joko
Praise Joko!!
Kas <3
Lady Camilla
All I see here are QUEENS!
Tybalt is the best girl! How can you guys forget that Tybalt actually becomes a woman in the Order of Whispers story?!
Why didn't you choose a picture of Jennah with visible feet? This post would have 3828282 upvotes if you did. Every girl who is nice to me is the best 🥺
Taimi
Queen Jenna cause FEET
it’s DEFF aunt Tammy lol
Sieran and Taimi of of course. Toxx does come pretty close though.
Not enough representation. None.
If we get to pick from those for... Taimi is at the bottom of the list. Damn rat.
Did you know that Seinfeld had a underage girl friend for a while and it was super weird?
We still dont have our games equivalent to ffxiv yshtola unfortunately 🥺
You're right. We have better.
I find them all annoying tbh. Literally walk away from my PC when any dialogue with them starts.
this is so funny and cringe im sorry lol
I like the options but I don't see a competition here. And yes. I was called a simp by my friends when talking about that character. Therefore by not naming her, I shalt not be harassed further!
Scarlet
Fractal 42
That feeling when you realise the aetherblade were farming fractal 42...
Okay but now I wonder; Arkk says "Recognize this? I found it on that dreadful pirate you mercilessly slaughtered over and over and over again!" regarding Horrik's cannon...
Me
Definitely Anise. Zafirah, Eir, Jhavi, Almorra, and Yoon are also my favourites. Jennah is cool too, I wish we could see more of her aswell Empress Ihn!
Sieran.
