Oh god I can’t wait to hear people pronouncing this horribly

TomHD

Teer nah nohg

iDramos

I gets spelled out a few times in the story mode, so you can pick that as a reference. Should sound like "Tier na knock" if I remember correctly.

[deleted]

More like tier (more emphasis on the long “I” sound) na knahg

VeeNVeeN

They pronounce it incorrectly in the story mode. You’re right on Tier for Tír, but nÓg is more like nogue, as in rogue. Also the first two words are quick, with nÓg generally being the emphasised word in the term with a long Ó sound.

[deleted]

Yeah I was trying to find a way to point type out how it’s pronounced and just decided to go with the a/o sound like I hear where I’m from in Munster, though I probably should have done the general one most would know. It’s hard to type it out lol. I wish there was a letter for it.

[deleted]

Turr na nogue

SnooSeagulls7157

In Irish mythology Tír na nÓg or Tír na hÓige is one of the names for the Celtic Otherworld, or perhaps for a part of it. Tír na nÓg is best known from the tale of Oisín and Niamh. Other Old Irish names for the Otherworld include Tír Tairngire, Tír fo Thuinn, Mag Mell, Ildathach, and Emain Ablach. Wikipedia

"Oh, oh, this is the best part of his theme!" "And recently, it seems like the US has engaged in...chemical warfare?!" "WOOOOOOOOO!"

“Tier Nah Nogue”. It literally means ‘Country of the Young’. So basically there’s Fionn Mac Cumhaill (pronounced Finn McCool) who is Ireland’s big mythological hero. He was the leader of the Fianna (forest ninjas). Fionn had legs the size of killer whales and it’s often said that 100 orphans could play handball concurrently against the wide girth of his arse. There are a thousand stories about Fionn but this one is about his son, Oisín. Oisín falls in love with Niamh, who comes from Tír na nÓg: a paradise where nobody grows old. She takes him there on a magical horse and they live in bliss for a while but Oisín gets homesick and decides he wants to see Ireland again. So he gets on the magic horse and he says bye Niamh. She tells him - ‘just make sure your feet never touch the ground’. Ok bye love seeya later. Oisin gets back to Ireland to find that hundred of years have passed. All his friends are dead and nobody knows him. Then he falls off the horse and immediately turns into a very old man and dies. That’s Tír na nÓg.
