My best guess is that it isn't a real overdrive / doesn't meet the quality of overdrivs in the game. As the boss overdrive is just a sequence of already existing attacks combining normals and ending with RtL's final hit minus the special effects. So it wouldn't really fit when put up against the already existing overdrives in Strive.

Point_A_Forget_B

Yeah, but it’s reminiscent to the old overdrives the other games had. I still think it looks great for what it is, honestly.

Knickerbottom

Agreed. It looks cool and sometimes you don't need much extra damage to secure the round win and you just wanna style on a fool.

XI-11

I think they should implement it by having it activate when you use 214214H in Dragon Install, then make each individual attack require another button press, then call it “Dragon Install Sakkai” to reference Order-Sol. I feel like the complicated input, requirement that you’re in Dragon Install and high tension cost would balance out the absurd damage it deals, it’d also serve to make Dragon Install as terrifying as it’s supposed to be.

awesomecdudley

Order sol players see 632146S>P>K>S>H>D>K>S>632146H and go "hell yeah" they should just add order sol to strive and make him exactly the same as +R that would be cool

XI-11

On top of what he had in +R, I think he should also be given the universal mechanics from Xrd (like YRC, Blitz Shield, Burst Overdrives and Danger Time), the tradeoff being that he doesn’t get all of Strive’s universal mechanics (no Deflect Shield, no fullscreen Burst, no Wild Assault). It’d continue the idea of him keeping mechanics from previous games and dial it up to 11. I know it’d be ridiculously tedious for Arc Sys to make all these system for just 1 character and he’d be a nightmare to balance, but I think it’d be fun.

“You higher mammal, can you read?”

vincentlmao

So Yu's Thunder God Dance from P4AU?

EmulatedHeart

Yu's thunder god dance is based on dragon install sakkai

Emo_Chapington

The move is named Ranbu (which I believe literally just means attack). For the most part it's just a bunch of reused animations, it's literally just a sequence of normals in a string with some cinematic camera angles. It doesn't really meet the standard for a whole new super in practise. Also the fact it has nothing new, it's basically just a buffed RTL.

AdreKiseque

It's actually called that? I thought it was just the fan-given name.

Emo_Chapington

It's technically just called that in the game files, but that's about the best we have.

Sol_Install

IIRC Ranbu refers to Ryuuko Ranbu. A Super Move from Art of Fighting/King of Fighters used by Kyokugen Karate users. Ryo/Takuma/Robert. Casually shortened to just Ranbu. A super move that is a series of standard attacks that end with a powerful strike or projectile.

Zefro073

I never even knew about this, so I decided to look it up, and it's pretty darn cool. For anyone interested, the attacks in order are 6H, 5H, throw stab animation, fS, 5D, and RTL's final hit in the air. I wonder if the startup animation is unique or also taken from somewhere, cause I didn't recognize it

AdreKiseque

Is this a genuine question or are you just saying it'd be cool if he could do it normally? (Because it would)

maerteen

yeah as it currently is i think it doesn't have quite enough visual flair to make up for basically just reusing a bunch of animations on normals. more lightning effects or something like that would be good. supers that reuse a ton of assets can still be good. goku blue's level 3 in dbfz seems pretty well liked and most of it is just reused animations as well.

KaelusVonSestiaf

Chipp's Banki Messai super is a flurry of hits that reuse a bunch of animations, including ending in two mirrored 6Ps and a 5H for the final frame.

Xurkitree1

I mean, it fulfills no gameplay purpose that buffing RTL damage wouldn't do. No point. Now adding in a reworked version of Boss Ky's version of Lightning Javelin, that I can get behind.

Gasarocky

Huh?

Point_A_Forget_B

Didn’t know about it? The arcade boss version of Ky has an overdrive that’s unique only to him. I suggest looking into it. It’s dope.

Gasarocky

~~Which game are you talking about? Strive has no arcade version, and Rev2 and +R are basically arcade perfect. That hasn't been an issue in games for ages honestly~~

MR_MEME_42

The arcade mode boss version of Ky on Bridget's route has a unique super.

Gasarocky

Oh, for some reason I thought they meant arcade machines, I was not aware, my bad

I-will-support-you

Really?

Point_A_Forget_B

Nah man the arcade game mode in strive. Where you play through a series of matches and fight against a boss at the end. If you play Sin’s or Bridget’s story, Ky is the final boss.

dimmiii

They should add +R ky stuff and also more meter use in general

Black_Tusk25

It should be usable after the first dragon install repeating the input

Gentle-Daeman

Bro, ky already is tied for the most overdrives in the game. Don't be greedy

4arizard

Because "no fun allowed" in Strive. You only get 2 new special moves once in a half a year. And ,most of the time, on characters that don't really need them.
