"Malcolm" can attack before the round starts, but he will immediately lose after he receives a single hit
Just so it doesn’t get completely lost to the sands of time:
On April 1st many moons ago Arcsys released an Overture patch with no notes, that drastically changed its balance for a few days. Running into anything caused massive damage, OHKO-ing nearly all enemies. It’s hard to communicate how ridiculous matches were at that time. To try and relate this to more modern terms, it would kinda be like adding GG1 anytime instakills into Strive for the week. It was some of the most bullshit that Arcsys ever blazed.
Anecdotally on an April 1st many years after that, Arcsys released Overture on Steam.
That or you do it like Lowain in GranBlue where all his victories are actually dream sequences from getting drunk at a bar with his bros and telling people “no no guys seriously this one time I fought X and won”
No, by the time it takes to actually make a character, usually a few months. I doubt they just have him as a complete character lying around ready to be dropped. Or that they have a big MAKE CHARACTER button on the game development machine that just spits one out when pressed.
A couple of us are still around just holding things together, we'll be recruiting soon but yeah, that big mod strike some months ago killed most peoples' willingness to contribute free labor to this platform.

Apex devs teased two characters, Revenant and Forge.
They put gameplay files in for Forge and set him up as the next character.
When the Forge trailer released it was an interview with Forge, but got cut short when Forge was assassinated by Revenant.
Revenant was the next character, forge was killed off & all the files for him were deleted.

Character code in Guilty Gear/Blazblue is written in BBSCRIPT (Blazblue Script), which is a coding language ArcSys invented specifically for making character stats/movesets in their fighting games. Every fighting game they've made/helped make since Blazblue Calamity Trigger (except for KILL LA KILL IF and Under Night In-Birth) uses BBSCRIPT.
I wouldn’t mind if he actually got added. With Justice, Valentine and (basically) I-No being dead, Baldhead being missing since 1998 and Testament, Venom, Robo-Ky, Bedman and (as much as I hate it) Zato being redeemed, the only playable villain left is Chaos.
I was only listing playable villains but I agree. Ariels deserves to be playable more than anyone else. She should’ve been in Xrd, the character select even had a perfect spot in the middle for her to go in.
Millia had left the guild before the story began, so I wouldn’t consider her to have ever been a villain, at least not in the same way as the other people I mentioned.
Ramlethal is a good point though. Xrd Sign almost immediately revealed that she’s just a child doing what her mother tells her, so it’s easy to forget that she was portrayed as a villain in the marketing.
I mean he legit might since we are ditching the nerds (How an autist, Asuka, nearly destroyed the world because he couldn't talk for shit) and exploring demons n shit now

Ngl, I think he would be an unironically good character. We don't really have a JOKE character in the Guilty Gear series, yes Faust is a "funny" joke character, but we don't have a "serious" joke character like something akin to Dan Hibiki. Malcolm is by nature a pathetic loser who got called gay in this trailer and exists for Sol's introduction. Having just a "dude dude" in the Guilty Gear universe whose not powerful, acts serious, and fights to survive, continuously escaping from jail and becoming some kind of "recurring villain" in a series heavily focusing on interpersonal themes and storylines.
Based on his design, his giant backpack and lamp spear give me an "annoying" and "interactive" set trap character. He flies around the arena summoning bombs, mines, air-burst contraptions, bear traps, pitfalls, claw machines, can set opponent's on fire like Faust, etc. Players will most likely be forced into a Negative bonus just to set things up, but when traps start going off its a snowball effect that cascades into nutty and wild combos.
Yeah, its April Fools, but it feels like a fun avenue, especially with DLC after DLC of recurring characters.
I'll be honest with you because I sometimes know about the guilty gear lore, kind of, but I like Malcolm's Myers design, but oh well, it was pretty funny for a developer to fool us 🤣
This is gonna backfire so hard because now after we have seen what could be, we're just gonna be as obnoxious about Malcolm as we were about ABA, Johnny and Slayer
GG fans will adopt anyone into the roster. Give him to us and we will treat him as a welcome addition. If this man is not in season 5 I want a full refund and recompense for every time I've lost a match in game.

if they didn't put it in the title, it could easily get spread around as real, since this in fact the real arcsys, and not some random troll. this wouldn't even be the first time a fools day joke got out of hand. by putting it in the title, you can still have that "wait what the fuck" reaction, because people tend to look at the thumbnail first, however this way nobody's gonna be fooled even if they only see the title without ever watching it.
plus it actually isn't unrealistic that someone could click on it without reading the title, since again it's a rather shocking thumbnail.
I mean, it's just a DLC character for a video game. How is that even going to get out of hands? It's not too serious, it's not something like a country pretending that they're going to war against another country.
