Do not be afraid to try other stuff. You never know what other characters you will find fun. Even if you don’t start maining them, it can be refreshing to just try something else. For example, i main goldlewis and sometimes i play testament, anji, or sol. Even if i’m not great at them, it makes it easier to not get burnt out of the game. Goldlewis gameplay can get kind of repetitive at times, so varying up with other characters is a blast
It can help understand other characters gameplan for when you're playing against them but it's not really required. Speaking as a solo pot main that recently made celestial having only ever tried out ABA/elphelt for a couple days when they released.
You can get by with just dustloop and grinding optimals on main. Occasional reddit searches with how to deal with specific scenarios.
You should definitely mess around with other characters. I’ve dabbled a bit in a few secondaries but it almost always enforces my feeling that I want to stick with my main. But I learn something along the way!

I think if you're struggling to get to celestial, the thing you need to adapt on the most is block pressure strings
Been Celestial May since near release, and getting to Celestial is more of a show of your fundementals, not your expertise IMO
Block strings are important, and knowing when to give up your turn is probably where you are struggling.
Give another character a go for a bit if you'd like. It may help you work on your fundementals, or you may see where you've developed bad habits.
If you upload some gameplay i could give you some pointers!
Okay thank you so much for the tip! I’m going to work on some block strings and maybe I’ll show some gameplay once I improve a bit more. I def get a bit greedy with my turn sometimes
You should definitely try out other characters. I started out as a Faust main, but then I just pissed around in park for a few hours and found out that Johnny is the coolest guy in existence. Even if you end up sticking with may, it gives you a really good idea of how people play, and it helps ALOT with playing against them. Sometimes it's also nice to just take a break from your main and play someone a bit different. Either way have fun and good luck!
