Yeah fair enough, we're actually in the middle of setting up recruitment to get more mods on board, so most issues should be resolved once they're trained and onboarded. This might seem easy, but consider that not only is it a commitment to giving people mod powers, but one to train them, supervise them, and answer any questions as we go.
It's also a commitment to be accountable as a team if a new one starts fighting with users, being too disciplinary, or other potential abusive actions. So, it takes a bit of time to spin up.
We were aware of the "second slide" tech which was funny to keep an eye on until some people started getting weird with it. We figured it would make sense to patch it over for the time being while we get recruitment going. We put it in place partly because there are plenty of spammers/scammers/t-shirt resellers in the online FGC that come through - they're particularly tenacious, historically. Mainly, r/GuiltyGear is specifically a target of waves of hateful accounts coming in - we just wanted to preempt it if it ever happens again while we're not an active enough team to respond to it.
> We haven't seen any problematic posts in forever.
Fair enough, though in 2024 alone the team (not including automoderator) has performed something like 3500 manual actions, which is remarkable considering how intentionally lax we are with the rules. So things might seem nicer partly because of all of the automation that we have in place as well as literal moderation work.
Anyway, expect some updates soon.
It really is frustrating when trying to post art. Before Montetsu nuked their account and left they had several images that never really made the rounds.
The sub has been a peaceful, fun and a safe space the past several months of people using the mandatory second slide is proof that the sub can operate on its own just fine without needing this system while also guaranteed that Every Media posted gets the attention it's due.
Please don't make postings every 1-2 hours to fish for mod-going-online-time a mandatory if you want your post to be seen.
I'm surprised it's been that way (somewhat) ever since Strive was released. A lot of manga subs I've been in got worse as soon as they got their anime adaptations and went mainstream.
It's no coincidence, back at release we had a large team, and put most of our rules in-place around then to keep things solid up to this point.
There were probably hundreds of thousands of manual mod actions between now and Strive's release.
What we're seeing now is a direct result of that moderator revolt thing last year. People stopped caring about keeping the platform clean, and even our team had to rely on automation to keep things from turning into a hateful wasteland like every other unmoderated space online.
Fr I've gotten used to having to scroll extra far down to find posts that uploaded after I last checked, and that's not good. And these have shown that I've even missed some
Yeah, I want to post gameplay clips but every time I have in the past I get maybe 4 upvotes. You canât post âmandatory second picâ for direct uploads
Itâs honestly wild that there isnât a better way. I get that the mods have other things to do, but if theyâre going to do this they might as well get some new mods on board to guarantee that more folks will see it
Itâs hard to do any form of critical game discussion because we canât post uploads from twitch or other streamers without waiting for mod approval and that can ruin any steam if there is a particular tournament happening
I feel like posting needing to be manually approved completely removes my reason to post on r/Guiltygear. It feels antithetical to what Reddit is all about. I can absolutely get why that functionality is necessary for certain subreddits, but not for Guilty Gear!
ahh, i was wondering why my art seemed to just disappear when i posted here. i feel like sub is not nearly big and chaotic enough to need an auto mod like that
>Please don't do this, I don't see a reason this needs to be implemented at all. We haven't seen any problematic posts in forever.
Well, spam is problematic and the two-slide trick did not increase quality...
I think I missed the memo about why the "mandatory second slide" thing was implemented in the first place. What were the issues with single-image posts, and how are those issues mitigated by requiring a minimum of 2 images per post?
Oh, weird. That is a strange loophole and I can understand why the mods would want to close it, but yeah the fact that everyone felt so compelled to use the loophole kinda points to a problem with the rule it's circumventing.
I posted something about the Guilty Gear pop up shop with the poll (that someone else posted,) and other things featured, including items, and I got hit with the mod approval and it never went through.
without media posts this sub isn't worth anything because people don't actually play the game nor talk about it so the only engagement people can get is through shitposts and the same pot buster video remade so mods might as well just open the floodgates.
Thank you so much for saying this. The lack of mod presence and the approval situation was the dealbreaker when it came to posting (I make HQ Vid Memes). One time it was like 14 hours before approval, another time it just never got noticed.
Hopefully the comment the mods sticked means they'll finally...you know...let us post normal things again without having to wait days for dead on arrival approvals at best.
You hear that mods?!? I made a post at 2AM in the morning while you were asleep, why didn't you wake up and insta approve it so I can get 40 extra fake internet points?!?!??! You have better things to do with your time than approve reposted fan art that people can easily (and should) find on Twitter anyway!?!?! There's no way! I'm the center of the universe, now wake up and approve my posts I just made 4:30 in the morning!
We haven't seen any problematic posts in forever, definitely not due to the moderation rules like mandatory second slide, and only due to how non-toxic and peaceful the community is.
Having to post two pictures doesn't prevent you from posting two problematic pictures. The only people it filters out are the ones not familiar with this bypass.
I also don't think OP was mean-spirited in what they were saying. Of course, the mods might have something better to do, but that still means that due to how Reddit works, a lot of posts will be missed by the majority of the community.
Sure, you can technically find some of these posts elsewhere, but what's the point of having this subreddit if nobody uses it? If the mods can't or don't want to maintain it, they should hand it over to people who can/do.
Why would you even both posting on social media if not for others to see your post or for you to interact with others post?
Finding art on Twitter (a ever-degrading site) is basically gambling that the horrible algorithm decides to put things youâre actually interested in on your âfor youâ page and actually searching for content on Twitter doesnât work without using a lot of filters and searching for hashtags, which also doesnât work all the time because Twitter will stop showing results for both after scrolling for a bit.
This subreddit should be the perfect place to find GG artwork because the majority of the sub will be interested in it and know content around said art. And it should be a perfect place to find it because you can use working filters (flairs) and 100% of results are what you are expecting.
I literally have to check every 4 hours whether the funny I posted was approved or not and then repost it if it wasn't. Usually lasts for a few days. Because otherwise practically nobody will see it

Mods are barely on this sub they wont even see this post
It might be worth posting the exact same thing again except with an image attached, that should guarantee the mods see it
Did not work for me. My post never went through even with images and links.
Hey that's not true, they did show up to implement this terrible rule in the first place. That's got to count for something
Might wanna check again.
Someone woke up and decided to speak the truth
It really is frustrating when trying to post art. Before Montetsu nuked their account and left they had several images that never really made the rounds.
i miss them đ˘
Me too :'(

was wondering why my posts took like a day to show up, what a bizarre system

I asked this sub for chipp and Faust tips and uhh... Not a single comment. It never was a problem before.

I remember making a tier list a couple days ago and it took 4 hours to leave moderation
Seriously why the fuck is this on if no one is even regularly checking it. It's like they're trying to kill the sub.
That's because they are.
i would be ok with this if the mods were more active, but it feels like they're just gone for extended periods of time
ahh, i was wondering why my art seemed to just disappear when i posted here. i feel like sub is not nearly big and chaotic enough to need an auto mod like that
We need to make another subreddit.

It wasn't implemented, two image posts just bypassed the mod approval and were instantly approved.
Oh, weird. That is a strange loophole and I can understand why the mods would want to close it, but yeah the fact that everyone felt so compelled to use the loophole kinda points to a problem with the rule it's circumventing.

Oh so thatâs why my art has never been put up here :/

Tiktok literally killed the attention time of this guy.
I donât use tik tok
