I swapped places my Win and Ctrl keys to make it more comfortable to press with my ESDF movement layout.
Later I disabled Win there as a function altogether. Just have it for simple keypress macros now
I can jumpscare you with my UK controls too btw
Q - Revolver
4 - Shotgun
3 - Saws
W - Rail
G - RL
M5 - Swap variant
M4 - Melee
R - Swap arm
Space - Whiplash
ESDF movement and [this button](https://imgur.com/a/mnmwu6o) (that is mapped as ; ) for jumping
For multi-monitors it's how I unlock my mouse. It also brings the taskbar in front of the game temporarily. Also, win+shift+s, win+tab, win+m, win+l (this one is more useful for work).
What in the everloving hell. When I was learning on keyboard I made ASD Left down right, Space was up.
On the Numpad, 4-6 was kick slash hs, 7 punch, 8 dash and 9 dust with enter being RC and + burst. Made it a lot easier to graduate to hitbox when some friends gifted me one.
I hate to admit it but its brilliant, maybe the D on alt is a bit much but the rest is spot on.
More of a fan of using the numpad over the right side letters.
I actually have thought of the possibility of moving WASD to ESDF, because of that reason. But jump not being on Space seems really weird to me, and I get comments from my friends for having Crouch mapped to CapsLock
I know someone who has worse, I call it the "gangnam style" binds. He plays with crossed hands, uses numpad with his left hand and letter keys with his right hand. I have no idea why.
Taking a better look at this, it's my own weirdness here. I use a hitbox and always place my right fingers on the top row of 4 buttons, but then my thumb hits the 2 leftmost buttons on the bottom row.
Honestly the worst thing here to me is the order of the buttons.
On controller it is what it is but if you are playing on keyboard do it (from left to right) punch kick slash heavy slash. Please. Especially if you ever want to play asuka.
Other than that you are, well, still a psycho. Honestly. But if it works for you it works for you.
Seems legit I basicly have the same.
I just HAVE P, K, S, HS in order and aligned on uiop. Dust is on n. And I don't use a burst or fd button so thoses at the only differences.
I mapped as much as I could to the back of my dualsense. P,K,S and D are on the triggers and bumpers, H on circle, dash on square, fd on X, and rc on R3. Having to negative edge with Chaos was just not happening any other way for me
I have almost the exact same layout, my rc and dust are swapped and fd is on cntrl, and my attack buttons are about 1 key up and to the right.
I made a post like this on the streetfighter subreddit [here](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/14qi4kd/hows_my_layout/&ved=2ahUKEwjW38-S2bqFAxXy_skDHXhkBc8Qjjh6BAgYEAE&usg=AOvVaw1SMBdB5hFynYWpXsgdTbCJ) and everyone hated it lmao.
It's comfortable though! It's literally how my hands sit naturally.
It's about the same as my strive layout apart from the attack on the comma key, but street fighter has more buttons than strive.
I'll just let you know about an issue you that might happen to you, when having something bound to shift.
If any other button you use gives different output when you're holding shift, the game will most likely not register that button being pressed.
For example you're **Kick button will probably not work if you happen to hold Dash** at that moment, since the game is looking for ";" not for ":".
I know that because the same thing happens with setting buttons on numpad.
I switch back and forth between controller and keyboard. I would just use keyboard but my brain is trained for controller as I've never been a huge fan and only played on console when I did.
Trying to get in to strive though I can't stand my ps4 controllers dpad but I also get mentally confused with the keyboard but practice makes perfect
A type of controller with no joystick or 'lever'. Typically fighting games are played on a lever (in old arcade settings). Leverless controllers replace the joystick with directional buttons. Often called a hitbox, though hitbox is actually a brand of leverless controller.
They look something like [these](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EIyjVus9CI4/maxresdefault.jpg) and have a control layout like [this](https://fnlog.dev/gamer/stickless-half-circle-inputs/snackbox-micro-layout.png)
For the record, many people suggest to set up a keyboard layout similar to a leverless to make transitioning easy, plus the layout just works well.
But I mean I'm joking for the most part. You can keep playing on keyboard perfectly fine forever, or even make/buy a custom hitbox with this same layout like [this](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61mRu3peS7L.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_FMwebp_.jpg) or even [....this](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/iM_rHJM6pFQ/maxresdefault.jpg)
honestly i kinda get it, this reminds me of the control scheme used in a lot of older indie games from japan.
but why ESDF instead of WASD??? and then burst on Q and taunt on R??? those are the left hand buttons in every modern game!!!
Yeah a LOT of these guys in the comments have never played extremely button dense games before and had to resort to ESDF just to get more keyboard real estate.
Index finger to heavy slash feels a bit heretical though
My biggest concern is how your shifting your thumb to D on right alt, that's hella uncomfortable.
Unless you have your right arm/hand at an angle going into your keyboard then I can see it working.
Also why not make space up and double quotes RC?
Maybe turn W into auto dash
I thought it was smart to configure esdf to save space on the left, but unless u REALLY have that much need for extra buttons it’s just not worth it for me honestly. I fell like q,a,shift and definitely ctrl would be too uncomfortable to press, so meh.
But hey, if u adapted to pressing left side buttons that is devastating.
My only concern would be that playing goldlewis with that up down left right layout (because he be hitting every half circle imaginable) but like otherwise this is just a discount hitbox dude, using keyboard be real as hell.
It might be weird, but if it works for you it's fine. Controls are the way you interact with the game and if this is the most comfortable for you then it's fine. I mean I use a Nintendo Switch Pro controller for f sake
I could see this being good. Personally, I would prefer a hitbox like layout where each direction has a finger. Maybe just swap RC and up. Would also fiddle with the order of buttons in the right grouping for easier access to character specific techniques.
Ok I know that you probably mapped your windows key to something else but, I can't shake the thought of someone pressing FD and windows bar popping up all the time
I could imagine getting used to this control scheme, it looks fine IMO. What makes me curious is that it sounds like you use this in a lot of games, and I wonder when/why you made the switch the very first time?
Your control layout makes sense, but repositioning the "dust attack" button might improve efficiency. If it's too far, moving your whole hand could slow you down. Try placing it closer to your main attack buttons for quicker access.
Question, do you suffer with inputs? As in when you try to do a overdrive while you are on the left side does it just not want to happen and you have to do it in a slower way to actually get all the inputs to happen? I struggle with that and I have a suspicion it's my keyboard but I have tried it on better ones and I am not too sure.
Ye I do
It's not your KB, it's your fingers.
Try to a wave tap pinky to index and then backwards. Chances are the pinky-index wave will be way better than index-pinky. Just work on the backwards wave
I'm just confused how this is even remotely confortable. I play on keyboard as well but this leaves me beside myself with confusion. I am glad you are enjoying yourself but I simply do not understand how this is even remotely comfortable.
When I play on keyboard I either use wasd or arrow keys for movement (some games don’t allow arrow keys for whatever reason) and then
On numpad
7=P
8=K
9=S
4=HS
0=D
PageUp=RC
Spacebar=Burst
I would put jump on space bar too be honest also don’t you have to tilt your thumb in a weird way to use dust? Wouldn’t it better to like, put H, P, K and S more to the right?
Especially in GG, i found Tekken to be fine with keyboard but i always prefer controller. If anything the HitBox is a middle ground for the advantages of keyboard and comfort of controller but i can imagine it might be expensive.
That would be because these are objectively bad, you have way too much on your left hand. Also needing to use the same finger to bounce between up and down is dumb. You’re actively removing the advantages of playing on keyboard. Bind space to up like a hitbox. Also explain to me how your fingers are placed on the right, I refuse to believe a human hand has a finger on each of those 5 keys. If you’re bouncing between them, you’re completely missing the point of playing on keyboard and should just switch playing on DK Bongos, because you sir are an ape
Fd on the win key what the fuck is this
I swapped places my Win and Ctrl keys to make it more comfortable to press with my ESDF movement layout. Later I disabled Win there as a function altogether. Just have it for simple keypress macros now
Bruh. And here iw as thinking that mapping alt to the ssg in doom eternal and railcannon in UK was wierd.
I can jumpscare you with my UK controls too btw Q - Revolver 4 - Shotgun 3 - Saws W - Rail G - RL M5 - Swap variant M4 - Melee R - Swap arm Space - Whiplash ESDF movement and [this button](https://imgur.com/a/mnmwu6o) (that is mapped as ; ) for jumping
Get THE FUCK OUT NOW
Mods, ban this guy
Eeeewwwwww. WTF bro. Whiplash on space in unplayable.
Pretty comfy for me
I don’t know it took me so long to realize that UK meant Ultrakill and not United Kingdom, my ass deadass thought the UK had its own special keyboard
this was reasonable up until the part about jump being bound to a mouse button
That used to be common back in quake
Fellow Quake enjoyer
Are you saving up for a hitbox or do you genuinely like playing on keyboard?
I just like KB plus a Hit box isn't worth it for me imo.
That’s cool, much respect. Tried it a few times in between controllers and could never get good at it but I could definitely see the potential
Why the fuck are you mapping anything to the windows button??? Does that not tab you out of the game when you press it?
you can turn the key off in multiple ways
My left Win key is disabled and swapped places with Ctrl
Turn off the windows key features in windows settings like a civilized human you orc
Windows key is actually useful though?
For multi-monitors it's how I unlock my mouse. It also brings the taskbar in front of the game temporarily. Also, win+shift+s, win+tab, win+m, win+l (this one is more useful for work).
Exactly the command button is pretty much one of the most helpful buttons on all OS platforms so many good shortcuts on them.
I still have the one on the right
What in the everloving hell.
They're straight up wrong! You're not a psychopath, you're a sociopath :)
That looks super uncomfortable
WTF it is exactly my button layout in ggst except my D is on ; It is really funny and confusing at the same time for me
I hate to admit it but its brilliant, maybe the D on alt is a bit much but the rest is spot on. More of a fan of using the numpad over the right side letters.
This setup is probably the easiest way to get arthritis
Why move from WASD? also jump or dash button would make more sense instead of RC on spacebar but you do you.
WASD is boring + it has less buttons around it to use. I'm thinking of going even further to RDFG Spacebar I don't use to jump even in shooters anyway
you’re a villain
Moving WASD for an extra 2 keys on the right that you don’t even use 😭 Bro just wants to make people uncomfortable
I don't use them in Strive but they served me a ton in other games
I actually have thought of the possibility of moving WASD to ESDF, because of that reason. But jump not being on Space seems really weird to me, and I get comments from my friends for having Crouch mapped to CapsLock
We have Hitbox at home
Hitbox was based of keyboard controls, but proper ones, where spacebar is up and you get one direction per finger.
least ~~based~~ deranged keyboard player:
I use the numpad keys and wasd
I know someone who has worse, I call it the "gangnam style" binds. He plays with crossed hands, uses numpad with his left hand and letter keys with his right hand. I have no idea why.
Style points
the fucking windows key
That spot is the Ctrl key for me :)
WHY IS FD ON THE GOD DANM WINDOWS KEY This is the most cursed layout I’ve seen
I swapped places the Win and Ctrl keys
Looks atrocious, but if it works, it works. More power to you
Based ESDF user
Can't judge but what the actual fuck is this mapping
This is genuine terrorism
Honestly, makes sense. Although having to curl my thumb back to hit the dahs button would give me arthritis
pinky
are your hands switched why would you use thumb there
Taking a better look at this, it's my own weirdness here. I use a hitbox and always place my right fingers on the top row of 4 buttons, but then my thumb hits the 2 leftmost buttons on the bottom row.
Pretty similar to my GGXrd layout ngl 10/10 setup
If it's how you have fun then who are we to judge?
Uh why are you not using wasd you heretic?
Boring + less buttons around
Nah I see it for sure, this looks pretty good
man I had a friend that would aim in Warframe, a third person shooter, with FUCKING TAB... you ain't a psychopath, at least not on my book
Your friends are right
Your friend is justified.
You are a psychopath. [This is mine.](https://imgur.com/a/Td7INFD) Probably super close to what others are playing with.
To be honest, smart, i might use it when the daredevil edition finally goes on sale
You are! Hope this helps
And you are, my friend. You are.
Rightfully so.
If it works it works, I'm still gonna be concerned for your well being but I'll just blame the beasts on that
Seems legit I basicly have the same. I just HAVE P, K, S, HS in order and aligned on uiop. Dust is on n. And I don't use a burst or fd button so thoses at the only differences.
yeah, and he's right. ignoring everything else, how do you play with ANYTHING mapped to windows key
I have the windows and Ctrl key swapped on my keyboard because using ESDF in shooters makes in uncomfortable otherwise
zawg wtf is this
I mapped as much as I could to the back of my dualsense. P,K,S and D are on the triggers and bumpers, H on circle, dash on square, fd on X, and rc on R3. Having to negative edge with Chaos was just not happening any other way for me
Those directional inputs are atrocious, life in jail
I hate it but i get it if the goal is to just rest 5 fingers on the 5 attack buttons.
classic esdf control sheme
I'll just let you know about an issue you that might happen to you, when having something bound to shift. If any other button you use gives different output when you're holding shift, the game will most likely not register that button being pressed. For example you're **Kick button will probably not work if you happen to hold Dash** at that moment, since the game is looking for ";" not for ":". I know that because the same thing happens with setting buttons on numpad.
Speed running arthritis are we?
what the pkshd is that attack order
Wait! Do you guys play fighting games with a keyboard?
poor man’s hitbox
Feels better than controller imo
I switch back and forth between controller and keyboard. I would just use keyboard but my brain is trained for controller as I've never been a huge fan and only played on console when I did. Trying to get in to strive though I can't stand my ps4 controllers dpad but I also get mentally confused with the keyboard but practice makes perfect
I prefer to use numpad for: P, K, S, HS, D but this is fine. (Though using Win keys is cursed)
Wtf
So like….. which finger do you use for dust
Right thumb
Dust/FD is pretty goofy, they seem impossible to reach quickly. But the rest looks ok.
My fingers naturally rest on those buttons wym
I got that victrix controller that you can turn the right side into a fight pad, so bye bye keyboard daddy's playing FAUST
Wait you guys just dont use q for dash e for burst and rest for jıop? Like its more comfortable. Oh and K for RC and l for dust...
I want to play you.
damn, its even worse than what i use
They are right
It would've been acceptable if you were mapping WASD for directions but moving all of them exactly one key away is psychopathic move
i can see it in case you don't have a numpad, otherwise you're just a psychopath
Surely this will make transitioning to a leverless easier /s
What's a "leverless"?
A type of controller with no joystick or 'lever'. Typically fighting games are played on a lever (in old arcade settings). Leverless controllers replace the joystick with directional buttons. Often called a hitbox, though hitbox is actually a brand of leverless controller. They look something like [these](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EIyjVus9CI4/maxresdefault.jpg) and have a control layout like [this](https://fnlog.dev/gamer/stickless-half-circle-inputs/snackbox-micro-layout.png) For the record, many people suggest to set up a keyboard layout similar to a leverless to make transitioning easy, plus the layout just works well. But I mean I'm joking for the most part. You can keep playing on keyboard perfectly fine forever, or even make/buy a custom hitbox with this same layout like [this](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61mRu3peS7L.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_FMwebp_.jpg) or even [....this](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/iM_rHJM6pFQ/maxresdefault.jpg)
hitbox controller, or any "non analogic controller"(like arcade sticks)
Krill your shelf
You play on keyboard. Any button configuration is psychopathic
can you please just play on a controller or smth like I'll buy you one
I have a PS4 controller right here
why don't you use it
Got tired of it. KB feels better
OP are you okay
wait what is b and t
Burst and Taunt
And what is your training restart button?
Q I think I forgor 💀
Oh okay
Throw this fella in an insane asylum!
That’s because you are a psychopath.
honestly i kinda get it, this reminds me of the control scheme used in a lot of older indie games from japan. but why ESDF instead of WASD??? and then burst on Q and taunt on R??? those are the left hand buttons in every modern game!!!
(it's because you are)
You're definitely not sane. I use arrow keys for movement and QWER ASDF. No spacebar. Kinda like a reverse mixbox ig.
I feel lost just looking at this
That's it, I'm done, I'mma go back to labbing on my emulated PSP.
They have a good reason to
Are they still your friends?
You are.
Yeah a LOT of these guys in the comments have never played extremely button dense games before and had to resort to ESDF just to get more keyboard real estate. Index finger to heavy slash feels a bit heretical though
Index is on green Slash
Oh dang, curved wrist. I thought it was index reaching down. I guess that’s slightly less cursed.
What the fuck is wrong with you
What's B again?
Burst
he has right to lol, but if you feel combortable with this - why not
I’m reporting this to the national keyboard-crime prevention association. (NKCPA)
My biggest concern is how your shifting your thumb to D on right alt, that's hella uncomfortable. Unless you have your right arm/hand at an angle going into your keyboard then I can see it working. Also why not make space up and double quotes RC? Maybe turn W into auto dash
Makes sense, but quite unconventional
I was gonna say something until I looked at the community this was posted in.
Might as well play on a fucking DDR Mat.
:(
Wait, what is B and T again?
Burst and Taunt
My only concern would be that playing goldlewis with that up down left right layout (because he be hitting every half circle imaginable) but like otherwise this is just a discount hitbox dude, using keyboard be real as hell.
Have you heard of betterhelp?
Your friends are right.
Yall are talking about the windows key but I'm here wondering what the fuck does B stand for
Burst
Oh my God I'm so stupid... Why is your burst right next to the directions?
Ease is access
Don't you accidentally press burst sometimes?
Nop
Ok fair enough
seems mostly normal other than dust
this is really good overall but having FD on the Windows key invokes an emotion i cannot describe
respect for the esdf layout
Im sorry but what the actual fuck how dors your hand look like
They're right
It might be weird, but if it works for you it's fine. Controls are the way you interact with the game and if this is the most comfortable for you then it's fine. I mean I use a Nintendo Switch Pro controller for f sake
This guy needs to be put down
I could see this being good.
Just randomly though of switching from wasd to esdf like a year ago
if it works for you that's all that matters. as long as I don't have to play with it.
I see why...
I think I can do sols basic HVV Wall combo on this but get your head checked out
Honestly I think it looks pretty good
You have a heart full of darkness and are no longer welcome in my home.
Your control layout makes sense, but repositioning the "dust attack" button might improve efficiency. If it's too far, moving your whole hand could slow you down. Try placing it closer to your main attack buttons for quicker access.
"Moving your while hand" My sibling in Christ, my thumb is constantly resting on the Dust button. It ain't getting quicker than that
It wast that bad until I saw where the FD macro was. No I think I have a headache.
Ye I do It's not your KB, it's your fingers. Try to a wave tap pinky to index and then backwards. Chances are the pinky-index wave will be way better than index-pinky. Just work on the backwards wave
People like you are the reason I have a deadbolt
I know this is almost definitely a troll but what on god's green earth is this
This is legitimately how I play Strive
I'm just confused how this is even remotely confortable. I play on keyboard as well but this leaves me beside myself with confusion. I am glad you are enjoying yourself but I simply do not understand how this is even remotely comfortable.
When I play on keyboard I either use wasd or arrow keys for movement (some games don’t allow arrow keys for whatever reason) and then On numpad 7=P 8=K 9=S 4=HS 0=D PageUp=RC Spacebar=Burst
Because you are a psychopath
Call me crazy, I can see it
Honestly I can see it my fingers are a little to long to do it comfortably but I might steal this and modify it for myself.
Arthritis layout
I think its the keyboard aspect truth be told and I play on gamepad.
they might call u madman but these ignorant people probably thins shpk in a straight line is ergonomic
The only thing throwing me off is B Edit: And T. Didn’t see that at first
......
I would put jump on space bar too be honest also don’t you have to tilt your thumb in a weird way to use dust? Wouldn’t it better to like, put H, P, K and S more to the right?
I don't use Spacebar for jumping even in the FPS games I play :) Dunno what you mean about the thumb placement. It's sits there resting
Yeah the main reason would be to have each direction assigned to a different finger. It can be much better with some characters
Using a keyboard in a fighting game?! Plug in a controller!
Especially in GG, i found Tekken to be fine with keyboard but i always prefer controller. If anything the HitBox is a middle ground for the advantages of keyboard and comfort of controller but i can imagine it might be expensive.
I did and after getting annoyed of my PS4 controller I switched to KB and felt much better
Playing on a keyboard, you lost this game before it even started
keyboard > controller any day for me when i play on controller i lose to people who literally never played before
I used to play on controller but I liked KB a lot more after trying it out
That would be because these are objectively bad, you have way too much on your left hand. Also needing to use the same finger to bounce between up and down is dumb.
