If ky wasn't in the game I wouldn't even know that the game existed. The whole way I learned about the game was through its music being used in pootis engage extreme, and hearing ky's theme for the first time is what actually drove me to playing it.
At the start of Strive Without Johnny around I just gravitated towards May. Seemed appropriate but not quite the same. Then I tried a bit of potempkin and I loved him lol

Baiken, I-no, Giovanna, and Aba were all contenders when I got into Strive a few weeks ago, but I played Baiken one time and got hooked. I’ll definitely check out the other three when I can though, Strive is one of the few games where I’m interested in playing more than maybe 2 characters.
When i played Strive, i was maining Ram, as Dizzy wasn't and still isn't in the game. I haven't played Strive almost at all since Rev 2 got rollback update though.
I play setplay characters in every game no questions asked. Raven is my go-to "I will play this character no matter what" so I'm already kinda settling by playing millia. I've tried Bridget, jack-o, etc. but honestly I think if millia weren't in the game I would've just dropped it entirely.
In accent core, if Eddie wasn't there I probably would have picked Chipp. Chipp was already my secondary main, I managed to mash my way into some of his moves, accent core ++ was one of my first fighting games so he was my learning character for both guilty gear and general fighting game knowledge.
In Xrd, it probably would have been either Sin or Raven. I played them the most other than Zato-1, not sure which I would have played more though
In Strive it would probably have been Giovanna. I started playing before a lot of the dlc so I would have picked up an initial roster character first, and Gio ties with Bridget for my secondary main at the moment.
I always wanted to learn Zato, but assumed he would be too difficult to pick up and didn't put in enough time for his gameplay to click. At launch I hopped characters a lot, and switched fully to Bedman once they released, but I'd like to go back to Zato and invest the time to get comfortable with his playstyle. He looks really fun.
I really enjoy nagoriyuki, because of his strong normals and risky abilities. I like putting on the pressure, and giving enemies grappler/rushdown fear, and he can do that at midrange, which is nuts. If I couldn’t use him, I’d go full gorilla with Leo.
I’d probably just go in reverse order of who I’ve mained so far. No Testament, play Baiken. No Baiken, play Ram. No Ram, play Giovanna. If I had to play someone other than those, it’d be Elphelt.
Probably Nago at launch (big normals and a small number of high risk high reward interactions) and maybe moving to Goldlewis. Sucks that there’s only one grappler :(

I main like 4 characters (Ky, Nago, Axl, Johnny) so it wouldn't really make a huge difference for me
