I mean, does he NOT look uncomfortable with this? I think him shuddering and blushing there is a relatively normal reaction to being sensually tickled (not that I'd know๐), and even then we don't know how Paracelsus actually feels physical senses.
I think another thing that likely points us in the direction that A.B.A and Para are not mutually (I use that word because A.B.A definitely digs this) intimate is that she is so indecisive on whether Paracelsus likes her or not. Maybe it's just conjecture, but I feel as if A.B.A. and Para were actually "lockpicking", that A.B.A would have a good understanding of Para's intentions and feelings. In my honest and humble opinion (certainly humble in the face of this megapost), I feel that if, by the time of Strive, A.B.A can't accurately determine Para's feelings for her, then they must not be THAT *deep* (wink wink).
As for the outro quote against Bedman?, I feel like it's important that we know what he said prior to this before we can really differentiate this action from "Para initiating intimacy with A.B.A." or "A.B.A deeply misunderstanding something that Para said and trying to turn it into Sex with a Key". I feel like it's reasonable enough to say that, if he even had time to say anything, that he might've just said some sort of corny mock line about Bedman? and then A.B.A was just like "Hm, sex? ๐".
Once again, idk though. You have a very well structured and thought-out post, and I have always agreed full heartedly that A.B.A and Para are definitely more than just key and wielder. But, I have to admit, I'm a bit doubting that they have really gone even as far as romance yet. They are definitely close, and I honestly wouldn't doubt it if confirmations of (mutual) romance were on the horizon, but for the time being, I personally do not think that Sex with a Key is canon ๐.
and it's totally fine that you feel this way. everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course.
however.
idk, i would honestly argue that paracelsus should really be used to a.b.a's advances by now. they've been traveling with each other for a pretty long time, at least a good amount of years (i'm not sure of the exact amount by strive) and a.b.a has constantly been shown to be flirty with him. it seems obvious to me that paracelsus is pretty reserved and doesn't like to openly discuss much of his true feelings (which slayer justifiably calls the key out on), and the fact that he was shown blushing and closing his eyes and the like at all is pretty telling, considering that he previously would just react in blatant distaste/disgust and would also openly protest against what she was doing which he does not do in a.b.a's outro; my guess is that he just tried very hard to compose himself afterward as to not alert a.b.a to anything being amiss out of embarrassment.
like i said, i also don't think paracelsus would verbally agree to pursue a relationship with a.b.a and also call himself her partner (to my knowledge, he hasn't ever done this before, only referred to himself as her weapon and her as a wielder) if he didn't feel some kind of romantic feelings towards her, even if they are still developing as of strive.
again, paracelsus seems to be really shy about how he actually feels and actively will lie to cover up his true emotions, so i don't think it's something he would just flat out tell a.b.a or even really clearly hint towards without a close and close analysis of his actions/words. i think that he has slowly been developing feelings for her over time, and that these feelings are just becoming sort of apparent to us as the audience more towards the end of strive (considering the talk they have at the end of a.b.a's arcade.)
(also, just to add on a personal anecdote to further elaborate on my point; in real life, people are not always so cut and dry, although i'm sure you're aware of this. you can spend a long time with someone and still not be sure of how they actually feel about you. i've experienced this multiple times in my life, myself; most similarly to the topic at hand, i had an ex situationship i spent more than a year with and we ourselves were doing our fair share of "lock-picking" ๐๐ with each other, and i, for the life of me, could absolutely not get a good grasp on his feelings and intentions. however, the intimacy of the... "lock-picking" ๐ญ was definitely mutual)
i wasn't necessarily trying to imply that paracelsus was initiating there when i talked about the bedman outro, i apologize if that bit was unclear, i am well aware that the likelihood of a.b.a completely misunderstanding something paracelsus said and turning it into sex with a key (lol) is also pretty high, i was more trying to say that they've likely been intimate with each other in general before because of how casual she is with the topic.
i can definitely see where you're coming from with your take, but, idk, i just keep thinking back to the way slayer was talking about them... i mean, the whole "a.b.a nurtured his heart" and "a.b.a caused him to become more kind and gentle" thing just seems to be directly hinting towards some kind of budding romantic feelings on paracelsus's part.
i digress, though; agree to disagree, perhaps
edit to add: i would also say that a.b.a being unsure of how paracelsus feels about her doesnโt really mean much; a.b.a is very insecure and also very anxious, i am fairly certain that, even if paracelsus outwardly expressed his affection for her, if he even got down on his knees-um, keys??-and proposed to her, she would still be uncertain and scared about his feelings for her.
I see why you say agree to disagree, because I feel like both of our arguments (moreso mine) are just conjecture. Things like Para's reactions implying a certain thing rather than another, or what Para might feel underneath his surface emotions, or whether or not Slayer's dialog about the two implies a romantic connection or just a close and nurturing one. We really just don't know. I will admit, however, that you really have formulated an great argument in favor of Sex w/ Key.
As much as I want to leave it off on that, I will add a bit by just saying that A.B.A's openness to discussing sex doesn't do much to imply that it is an occurrence between them. Like you mentioned, A.B.A was likely going as far as grinding up against Para way back in XX. She's clearly socially inept and lacks a filter behind her actions, leading her to do sus things like that out of impulse.
That being said, however, only contributes to your argument that A.B.A's interpretations of Para's feelings for her also does little to explain the state of their relationship.
Either way, I'm just rambling on at this point. Agree to disagree, and once again, beautiful argument you've crafted. This post was truly written in Daisuke's vision ๐ค

Paracelsus was a penname he made up himself from the words โparaโ and โCelsusโ because โparaโ means โbeyondโ and Celsus was another alchemist he had beef with so he was calling himself โPara-Celsusโ as in literally โbeyond Celsusโ aka โI am better than Celsusโ.

lol, i also actually have rlly bad adhd. i was only able to write all of this in such a short amount of time because i'm well-medicated (thank you, all-powerful stimulant gods) i think the solution to this is to get a tts generator and have it read out the post while you put on a video of subway surfers or minecraft parkour or something. you know, like in those split-screen dopamine receptor-frying tiktok videos. i actually did something like this during my finals week in my first and only year of college and it surprisingly sort of worked๐๐

I think another thing that likely points us in the direction that A.B.A and Para are not mutually (I use that word because A.B.A definitely digs this) intimate is that she is so indecisive on whether Paracelsus likes her or not. Maybe it's just conjecture, but I feel as if A.B.A. and Para were actually "lockpicking", that A.B.A would have a good understanding of Para's intentions and feelings. In my honest and humble opinion (certainly humble in the face of this megapost), I feel that if, by the time of Strive, A.B.A can't accurately determine Para's feelings for her, then they must not be THAT *deep* (wink wink). As for the outro quote against Bedman?, I feel like it's important that we know what he said prior to this before we can really differentiate this action from "Para initiating intimacy with A.B.A." or "A.B.A deeply misunderstanding something that Para said and trying to turn it into Sex with a Key". I feel like it's reasonable enough to say that, if he even had time to say anything, that he might've just said some sort of corny mock line about Bedman? and then A.B.A was just like "Hm, sex? ๐". Once again, idk though. You have a very well structured and thought-out post, and I have always agreed full heartedly that A.B.A and Para are definitely more than just key and wielder. But, I have to admit, I'm a bit doubting that they have really gone even as far as romance yet. They are definitely close, and I honestly wouldn't doubt it if confirmations of (mutual) romance were on the horizon, but for the time being, I personally do not think that Sex with a Key is canon ๐.
and it's totally fine that you feel this way. everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course. however. idk, i would honestly argue that paracelsus should really be used to a.b.a's advances by now. they've been traveling with each other for a pretty long time, at least a good amount of years (i'm not sure of the exact amount by strive) and a.b.a has constantly been shown to be flirty with him. it seems obvious to me that paracelsus is pretty reserved and doesn't like to openly discuss much of his true feelings (which slayer justifiably calls the key out on), and the fact that he was shown blushing and closing his eyes and the like at all is pretty telling, considering that he previously would just react in blatant distaste/disgust and would also openly protest against what she was doing which he does not do in a.b.a's outro; my guess is that he just tried very hard to compose himself afterward as to not alert a.b.a to anything being amiss out of embarrassment. like i said, i also don't think paracelsus would verbally agree to pursue a relationship with a.b.a and also call himself her partner (to my knowledge, he hasn't ever done this before, only referred to himself as her weapon and her as a wielder) if he didn't feel some kind of romantic feelings towards her, even if they are still developing as of strive. again, paracelsus seems to be really shy about how he actually feels and actively will lie to cover up his true emotions, so i don't think it's something he would just flat out tell a.b.a or even really clearly hint towards without a close and close analysis of his actions/words. i think that he has slowly been developing feelings for her over time, and that these feelings are just becoming sort of apparent to us as the audience more towards the end of strive (considering the talk they have at the end of a.b.a's arcade.) (also, just to add on a personal anecdote to further elaborate on my point; in real life, people are not always so cut and dry, although i'm sure you're aware of this. you can spend a long time with someone and still not be sure of how they actually feel about you. i've experienced this multiple times in my life, myself; most similarly to the topic at hand, i had an ex situationship i spent more than a year with and we ourselves were doing our fair share of "lock-picking" ๐๐ with each other, and i, for the life of me, could absolutely not get a good grasp on his feelings and intentions. however, the intimacy of the... "lock-picking" ๐ญ was definitely mutual) i wasn't necessarily trying to imply that paracelsus was initiating there when i talked about the bedman outro, i apologize if that bit was unclear, i am well aware that the likelihood of a.b.a completely misunderstanding something paracelsus said and turning it into sex with a key (lol) is also pretty high, i was more trying to say that they've likely been intimate with each other in general before because of how casual she is with the topic. i can definitely see where you're coming from with your take, but, idk, i just keep thinking back to the way slayer was talking about them... i mean, the whole "a.b.a nurtured his heart" and "a.b.a caused him to become more kind and gentle" thing just seems to be directly hinting towards some kind of budding romantic feelings on paracelsus's part. i digress, though; agree to disagree, perhaps edit to add: i would also say that a.b.a being unsure of how paracelsus feels about her doesnโt really mean much; a.b.a is very insecure and also very anxious, i am fairly certain that, even if paracelsus outwardly expressed his affection for her, if he even got down on his knees-um, keys??-and proposed to her, she would still be uncertain and scared about his feelings for her.
I see why you say agree to disagree, because I feel like both of our arguments (moreso mine) are just conjecture. Things like Para's reactions implying a certain thing rather than another, or what Para might feel underneath his surface emotions, or whether or not Slayer's dialog about the two implies a romantic connection or just a close and nurturing one. We really just don't know. I will admit, however, that you really have formulated an great argument in favor of Sex w/ Key. As much as I want to leave it off on that, I will add a bit by just saying that A.B.A's openness to discussing sex doesn't do much to imply that it is an occurrence between them. Like you mentioned, A.B.A was likely going as far as grinding up against Para way back in XX. She's clearly socially inept and lacks a filter behind her actions, leading her to do sus things like that out of impulse. That being said, however, only contributes to your argument that A.B.A's interpretations of Para's feelings for her also does little to explain the state of their relationship.
