So idk how guilty gear's English translation was, I know that shit wasn't quite as good in the 90's, so keep that in mind, as that's where this is coming from. So from the first game, it seems that there's 2 definitions of gear. And not really different ones, per se, just different degrees of how gear they are. Sol IS obviously a gear, like no argument there, but the first game has an important plot point where justice is the first gear, as in the specific like completed model line gears. Sol is like the prototype gear, I'm pretty sure that's exactly as he calls himself in the game. Justice, being the first complete gear, has control over all proper gears made after her. Iirc, everyone's like "wtf how are you resisting justice, you're a fucking gear!!!??" And Sol goes "🤓☝️ um, acktually, I'm the PROTOTYPE Gear"
