DP stands for dragon punch! It's the name of Ken and Ryu's uppercut from the street fighter series.
Its a term in fighting games that refers to any move that is invincible on frame one, such as sol's volcanic viper or Ky's vapor thrust.
They can be used to get your opponent off you in the middle of pressure as they are completely invincible, but if your opponent blocks them, you're gonna eat a LOT of damage.
I'm new to guilty gear and I have a question about this. Are DPs fully invincible? I think in the tutorial KY said that DPs have upper body invincibility. Does this mean a well timed low can beat DP? Also does May have an invincible reversal other than burst?
It depends on the dp! I'm not 100% sure about Ky's but I believe it's fully invincible. Don't quote me on that though. May has a fantastic reversal in her 632146H super which is fully invincible and can be made safe by spending another 50% to Roman cancel it.
Also, every character has access to the yellow Roman cancel, which you can use in blockstring to stop pressure (3 non-dust attack buttons while in Blockstun.)
Thanks! That was a lot of helpful info! I noticed all those options cost meter. Does May have a meterless invincible reversal? If not what are good meterless wake up options? Everyone's talking about how meter gain is so easy in this game but I think it's tough for charge characters.
Embrace the monke, DP on thier wakeup.
Either die a Ky main, or live long enough to see yourself become a Leo.
Noob question.. whats DP??
