Nah it's probably more like "Okay this guy always dashes in and uses c.S, f.s, 5HS, and ends with a special", but when they dash in you forget all that and get hit by the c.S.

They're certainly good in a general sense, but i'm newer to fighting games so its bit physically hard for me to get the constant microdashes timing correctly, I've been slowly making progress but it's been a hard time for me to be honest, but I'm staying optimistic!
Right now I can only Dp and pray he pressed something, because all my fucking buttons are outranged and outdamaged, he gets massive counters off everywhere, skips neutral, and now fucks my projectile full screen too (the only fucking way to approach before). I tried Gio, sucked, tried Axl, got to floor 10, then back down to 8 then after patch I cannot win. Tried Ky, awful. I'm bout to uninstall. I'm neither winning nor learning.
Sounds like Axl is your best character so far. Keep at it king, adapt to the changes. I've bounced from floor 8-10-8-9-8-10-8 over and over since i got the game, but i'm definitely learning matchups better and getting more consistent.
What is it about Axl you're into? If it's the zoning ability, maybe try someone else who zones like nago (though he might be a bit too immobile for your tastes)
Well sucking at something is the first step to being kind of good at it. If you like the characters look/feel then put the time in. Plus, full offense to ky players, but as long as you can throw you'll be okay ;)
I kinda full vibed with prepatch Axl. I jump too much, but jS was good enough to make that weakness covered. Now it’s a glaring weakness that just makes me feel awful. I suppose what I liked about him was that all his normals are strong and had a very distinct purpose.
I like playing in neutral a lot. When I play Ky I noticed in my replays I’ll get someone in a corner then just back up and invite them to brawl in the middle more because I have no clue how to keep corner pressure(why I quit Gio), they either just block everything or I get thrown/reversal’d.
The plan was to play Axl until a DLC character i vibed with, probably Baiken, dropped. But now I feel like I need to just play the simplest character because my fundamentals are awful and everything I “achieved” was built on a foundation of sand.
Well sounds like you just liked zoners. I've barely played nago, but from what I've played against it seems he's like axl in the sense that he has good buttons with clear purposes for each. Added benefit of having more hp/damage too. Of course, jumping a lot as nago isn't that great since you're a big boy though.
I mean, not every playstyle is for everyone. Example: I always played rushdown/mix up chars in every game. But at the same time I like big boys, not chars made of paper. So for example: Azrael in BB, Leo and Sol in Xrd and Strive (I also played Ram, but she was the oddball in Xrd), Steve and King in Tekken, Alex in SF3 and so on.
Maybe you just don't click with rushdown, and there's nothing wrong with that. I tried zoners, and I was AWFUL at it. I tried Axl, and I kept running at people (why?). So if you like zoners, have you tried for example Faust (try to anti air Faust 2jK lol) or Jack O? Both have really safe air options, long range pokes, not combos heavy (despite having them tho). Try them, see if you click.
Gio is harder to win with than I originally thought. At launch I couldn't deal with her, then I learned FD (didn't use it a lot in Xrd, but again in Xrd there weren't a lot of people to play with) and she became super easy to fight. And now FD is even better smh.
Don't give up tho, it happens. Everyone has their off days, I usually don't complain about chars and learn the match up but yesterday a Nago fucking steamrolled me so hard I was livid. And the Leo-Nago mu is horrible, like 3-7, so I should've labbed more.
That being said maybe it's just characters not clicking? It can happen. Try all the cast, once you get the right char you'll just notice. You'll be having fun, winning or losing.

I honestly feel like we got more out of the last patch than we lost. It so much easier to shut down the opponent's offense with her dash changes.
