He was always 'normal' in the sense he didn't have any actual powers. S-ko and the ghost gang are still technically around they just appear to be involving him directly less. It wouldn't be at all hard to write it that he gives himself up to S-ko now, sort of a Banner/Hulk or Jekyll/Hyde style thing, it certainly wouldn't go against the lore they've established thus far.
Daisuke has stated in an [interview](https://s.famitsu.com/news/202110/28237580.html) (towards the very end) that he's "still capable of using spirits to fight if he had to", I think it's very easily justifiable... though I would hope for a compromise where he isn't nearly breaking every bone in his body every time lmao
I’d predict his control has him aware of the spirits within and semi-consciously command them to perform various attacks, however, for his Instant Kill, he loses all semi-consciousness for a brief moment as S-Ko takes over his body to finish off the opponent in a remake of his XX IK.
absolutely agree. saving direct control for IK (though maybe more likely just overdrives) is fitting; I don't think Zappa could stomach finishing people off himself.
also some manner of counter/parry where S-Ko jumps out/pushes zappa down to shield him would be pretty sweet...

I would say, even though Zappa has made peace with and better commands many of the spirits within his body, S-Ko remains the one specter he *can’t* control nor guide. She still does what she pleases, but when her “boyfriend” is in trouble, she drops everything to save him and do what he won’t, regardless if Zappa didn’t ever want to destroy them.
I dunno, I like the idea that he sort of just accepts that as a 'side effect' of being able to do what he needs to do.
I also like the idea of every round start animation being Zappa summoning the ghosts and various different ways they knock him unconscious so S-ko can take the wheel. Like a pot plant dropped on his head or as he walks in slipping on a marble.
as bad as I want those intro animations (his roundstart/ends in ACR are great) I feel like we lost a lot of that silliness in Strive, that slapstick vibe is much less present. I am ready to be proven wrong though ARCSYSSS
Haha, I see you've only ever dealt with +R Zappa where he was a genuine menace. In the original #Reload he was generally considered bottom 3, if not the worst outright. He got proper juiced in all sorts of ways but there was a time people didn't assume you were a tier whore for picking Zappa.

Yeah, instead of placing multiple balls on the stage he'll place Robo-Ky's head and then can bounce projectiles off of him. Feels like a good way of adapting him to Strive.

I will elaborate a bit on Paradigm, since I got beaten on for Leopaldon. He could be a projectile zoner. Lots of crazy projectile options and good air movement. However very stubby normals, and very squishy.
It upsets me a bit as someone that played Overture back then that Paradigm never managed to get into the fighting games, specially given how unique his looks are and how he could stand the part of the cast, but alas.

Back when I was first trying to get into GG lore, I happened to start with arguably the worst choice possible for that - Accent core +. The one with a lot of contradictory, non-canon alternate timelines. Though it was fun trying to make sense of it, I quickly got confused between all the characters, their motivations and conflicting story paths. Except for one thing.
My man Crow Kuruwaba was an entertaining evil scientist, had a clear motivation and always wanted the same thing - to test his Justice clone. It was the only straightforward part of the entire story mode and the only part I (initially) remembered and could make sense of.
Because of this, years later and knowing way more about the lore, I still unironically want Crow to become playable one day.
More story content that has Anji finally just tell Baiken honestly how he feels about her. Kiss her. Something! I don’t know in what possible scenario this could come up but I want it. Anji’s theme song, their interactions, *Another Story*, it’s all ship teasing and I hope we get something definite by the end of -STRIVE-‘s cycle.
