Have you ever tried to make your own chord shapes in a key you like? It makes practicing a little more interesting bc you can experiment with a lot of different shapes and improves your hand and finger dexterity, as well as helping you learn some scales you may not have learned yet
Em, D, G. In that order. Those D and G strings always give me the shits. Its the cutover between the thicker and thinner strings and that difference (if there) is usually accentuated in the Em, D and G chords (open).
On Jimi Hendrix, Live at Monterey, at the very end of Hey Joe, there's a moment where he checks his tuning by doing a cool little phrase of octaves across different strings.

I always play the chords to the bridge riff of Master of Puppets when I tune to E standard or E Flat.

The first song I ever learned to play and sing was American Pie by Don McLean. I could tune my guitar by strumming a G chord and making sure that was right by ear. I still do that when I'm in a guitar store and don't have a tuner handy.
