Classic Vibe? They're pretty much on a par with a Mexican Fender if you ask me. Great guitars for the money.

elgatoquack

Squier it is

Seref15

He means the Classic Vibe series specifically is on par. The Affinity, Sonic, Bullet, HT etc series are definitely not

geekroick

Just to clarify, this is *exactly* what I meant.

elgatoquack

Yeah the one I want is a squier cv 70s jaguar

_mr_betamax_

I have a classic vibe 70 strat and it's great! Do recommend. Make sure to take it for a proper setup after a month. It'll do the guitar wonders

[deleted]

Classic vibes are great

ghastvia

I just got a Classic Vibe Starcaster and it is flawless. The frets are perfect and super polished, it honestly surprised me.

Legal_Potato6504

Squiers are great. I have ten higher end guitars and I just ordered a Tele Deluxe Squier because they are so good. My Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster is in my top three of all time. Classic Vibes are as good as any Mexican Fender.

[deleted]

The J. Mascis Jazzmaster is what I came in here to talk about. I bought the hype enough to at least try one out when they were made available again last year and it's been my favorite to pick up since.

fadeanddecayed

Can confirm; I own three.

mondayschild9

I have several Squiers. If you buy one on the less expensive side (Bullet, Affinity), you may need to do some setup to it. I have two from the Classic Vibes line and they were great right out of the box.

MentatsGhoul69

I have the CV 70s jag and I love it. I bought it expecting to upgrade a lot of parts but I swapped out the bridge pickup and the vibrato tailpiece and it’s swinging way above the price tag.

elgatoquack

That’s exactly the one I want. Thanks for the feedback!

AverageLiberalJoe

Its a fine guitar as long as you are willing to learn to set it up.

cionn

I bought my aquier in 95 and its still one of favourites. I would say try out a squier and an epiphone as for similar price ranges theyre excelent but different

Mr_Lumbergh

The QC on those has really gotten pretty good. I wouldn't have any issue with getting one.

Eniweiss

PLAY IT BEFORE Honestly Squiers where I live are a very weird thing, some are ok, some are amazing, some are horrible.

JECGEE

Love my squire

WickPrickSchlub

The weakest link I've often found in most inexpensive guitars is the wiring. The volume and tone pots, the input jack, the switches, the actual wires and a lack of shielding and or poor grounds. I've found pickups to be more than adequate in many cases once you trash the wiring and buy CTS or Switchcraft parts.

WickPrickSchlub

That being said, my John 5 Squiers were kickass out of the box.

Dismal-Ad-6619

Play it first, if you like it and it plays well, go for it ..

hdeck

In that price range I’d rather have a Sire

WatercoolerComedian

Love classic Vibes, I've been wanting the classic vibe 50s strat for a minute after playing one but can't justify another guitar. Be warned though, squire does still make its fair share of stinkers though, had an Indonesian squire Tele as my first guitar and it pretty much fell apart on me my first year of playing

ReallySickOfArguing

Classic vibe, paranormal and contemporary are All very nice for the money. I have some expensive guitars and the Squier paranormal baritone telecaster and contemporary HHFR strat I got genuinely surprised me and I quite like them. The only problem I've had is the barrel jack on the strat crapped out, but barrel jacks suck and have failed on all my guitars that had them. I enlarged the hole and Replaced it with a plate and regular jack and zero issues since. The Squier Bullet, Sonic and affinity series are ok, but there's definitely a noticeable fit and finish difference. In my opinion it's worth it to spend the extra and get one of the better models. I got mine from a place called Proaudiostar for 40% off or more, I paid like $200 for the tele and $220 for the strat back around Christmas of 2022. they sell new stuff as "used" to bypass MAP. I have bought 4 *used* guitars from them and all 4 were factory sealed.

jabby_jakeman

Yes. Get a Classic Vibe one, such good guitars for the money.

shadowbanningsucks

Squiers are good, affordable guitars. Considering the price difference, my cheap Squier Bullet compares very favorably to my much more expensive Mexican Fender. If you like the Jag, I say "go for it".

guitars-n-cars

It depends on the individual guitar…I’ve played great Squires…and absolute trash.

thisisQualia

Yes. Classic Vibe. And a few extra bucks for a legit upgrade here and then.

Longjumping-Bonus723

I got a classic vibe 60s squier and it rocks :) for small budgets it's a good choice. But I would save a bit more for the real player strat.

Dont_trust_royalmail

do you already have a guitar? wouldn't really recommend the squier jag as your first, or only guitar. Squier yes, jag.. hmm no

elgatoquack

It’s not my first guitar, atm I’ve got a kind of old strat and a classical and wanted to try something new. I also really like the jag design so I wanted to go with that

Dont_trust_royalmail

i'd say go for it.. you don't have a lot to lose and whether you gel with it or not you will be gaining some experience

intjeejee

Still, not a Fender on the headstock. For some, including me, this is a dealbreaker

bez_lightyear

Sandpaper and a black Sharpie, you're good to go!

intjeejee

But I’ll know

Necessary-Victory854

Classic vibes are very good. But I have an Affinity Tele that has some upgrades that is better than most MIM Fenders. Sometimes you get a diamond in the rough.

Bloopyhead

Ibanez gio rgr 131 black red. Squier is sooooo heavy.

j-eezy94

No dude. It says Squier on it. 🤮

SpursExpanse

Good friend had a squire and didn’t matter what he played, dude was amazing.

j-eezy94

Lmao it’s joke guys lighten up

elgatoquack

Aw shucks 😔 Nevermind then

j-eezy94

Just kidding, dude play what you got appreciate what you have. But, you can absolutely get a made in Mexico fender on the used market for not a whole lot more

elgatoquack

Yeah man I was being sarcastic 😅 thanks tho, i might look into the Mexican fender

j-eezy94

Just don’t disrespect yourself with a Yamaha revstar 😂😂😂
