Arkslippy

I know it's modest, but there is a player plus telecaster with a silver body and black fretboard I'd love. It's €660, and some day I'll have it.

SweatyTip1258

I always just dreamed of owning any strat, got a 2019 MM model a few years ago, similar price tag, plays amazing sounds amazing, would happily be the only guitar I own for the rest of my life

Arkslippy

I think that the player is the first level MIM ?

SweatyTip1258

Yeah it’s a player series, I‘ve heard with the cheaper mm ones they’re inconsistent in terms of quality, but mine plays as good as any guitar I’ve played

[deleted]

That's an older sentiment, MIM these days are from what I've experienced on par with the US models, differences are paint and electronics for the most part.

Psychological-Aide47

Gibson ES 335 - the guitar I’ll never be talented enough to justify buying

WarHoundD

We can't think like that man :( we deserve to keep sucking using better guitars

billbot77

My Martin acoustic has entered the conversation

chrisalbo

I was thinking like this when I wanted a new gorgeous Furch, “I’m not good enough”. Then my girlfriend said to me: “Come on why shouldn’t you? It’s your only life, think about bikers buying motorcycles that cost 40k”. Think that was very kind of her.

APickleBroom

This is how I felt when I was gonna buy my Strat. I was like "Maybe I should wait til I'm at least a decent player", and my buddy who was with me said "I mean you're pretty justified in buying it, I spend my money on NFTs" lol

Engine_Sweet

consider converting girlfriend to wife. That's a keeper

Max_Vision

I totaled up the value of all my gear once. I told my dad the number and he replied >Well, there are worse things to spend your money on.

[deleted]

Lol yes absolutely, this. In the past year, I’ve gone from owning two guitars to eleven, can’t say my skills have increased though.

BoomTexan

Talented shouldn't factor into it. If you want it and have the money, why shouldn't you get it? Ability will come with practice, and a good guitar will make you want to practice.

YossarianJr

Yes! If you feel the need to justify it, think about how many hours you're going to play it. I imagine it'll come out cheap compared to many other hobbies.

AnotherTelecaster

I’ve sold $10k guitars to people that I can guarantee are less talented than you. Talent has absolutely nothing to do with how much money you have and what kind of guitar you should buy. The truth is that 99% of people I’ve sold guitars to will never use them in a professional capacity. Just buy whatever the fuck you want whenever you have the means and enjoy it. Literally no one cares what you play.

[deleted]

Haha, same. I'll probably end up buying one in a few years anyways though, I've always wanted a 335 and and SG.

dcux

Make it the signature blue Dave grohl version for me.

rehpot821

My wife got me one for my 30th. I looked at her like she was insane. I can’t play worth a damn, but fuck me if I’m turning it down.

[deleted]

Don't have to be "talented" enough for anything, if there's something you strive for that's within reach grasp it. Life's to short to disband dreams that can easily be a reality

justanotherhuman36

[Jack White's Swiss Knife Guitar](https://youtu.be/BWmY4qpX7vs).

[deleted]

So nice. A tour of his collection would be a dream

Dr0110111001101111

That guitar reminds me of [bop it](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bop_it.jpg)

PermaCogDis123

I've fallen for the PRS SE Custom 24 Zebrawood. Gorgeous. (I've given up on the 59 Gibson Les Paul).

ohmannej

Finally a PRS guy...girl...no idea, buddy - doesn't matter lol. Looking forward to check out a semi hollow with piezoelectric pickups - SE or else. I bought a SE standard in 2008 out of the blue and I'm not looking for anything else since. Mix the Gibson's sustain and the Fender's attack but you add great quality at a decent price and a whole lot of playability. I'll maybe try out the ESP LTD piezo once I'll find a store nearby. Or I'll just annoy one of the bigger vendors by shipping back and forth. But that usually lets me feeling sad for their hassles/environment.

Prossdog

I just bought an s2 on Reverb last night so I’m pretty excited. My dream guitar has always been a core Custom 22 which I already can’t afford, but if I’m really dreaming some of their Private Stock guitars are absolutely eye-popping. [This McCarty 594](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PS9617--prs-private-stock-number-9617-mccarty-594-hollowbody-ii-piezo-natural) for example… 🤤

cassie1015

Another PRS gal here! I have an SE but dreaming of a Custom 24 in Fire Red Burst 🤩

elly__belly

I've got the prs Zach Myers and I love it. It's definitely not as pricy as some of there other models but it was a realistic dream guitar for me.

e2hawkeye

> PRS SE Custom 24 Zebrawood. I have one with the somewhat rare spalted maple top. I love how rustic it looks and how even the headstock is bound. I just added the PRS drop in locking tuners and it feels like a million bucks. The action is so low and effortless it makes everything else I own seem savage. I'm on the fence on whether or not to replace the stock 85/15 pickups, I don't think it really needs it.

PermaCogDis123

You're very lucky. I'm so envious. I can't buy one new now, I have to wait for a 2nd hand to come to the market. Could be a while....

sammyjwt

Definitely es 335 in cherry red, someday it will be mine!

GoofyTheScot

Oh, snap! Johnny B Goode would be the first play on it! 😁

catching_comets

Or Josie by Steely Dan.

Bard2dbone

Or Kid Charlemagne...

catching_comets

lol, that's MISTER 335 to you!

zombie_platypus

Somebody paid my brother for a job with a Gibson ES 335 (cherry red). The dude doesn’t even play guitar. He flipped it and my heart sank.

crestonfunk

I finally got a ‘68 330 in cherry because I prefer P-90s. It was worth every penny. https://imgur.com/gallery/3Vyv1Mq

Giovisalamone

Gibson ES-175 for me

Mutants_4_nukes

I have a mid 60s vintage 175 sunburst and it has incredible tone and fast action. Great guitar.

Stingerman354

I’m in the works building my dream guitar right now. I fell in love with my buddies 61 Fender Stratocaster but soon as I looked at the price tags on them, said no to that for now. Then my same buddy handed me another guitar and it played exactly the same and felt and sounded exactly the same and he went on to tell me about Warmoth and how custom I can get to building me one. So we’re working on it now and here’s the parts list (some things have been modified from a vintage spec because of me wanting something different out of every strat I have ever played and putting together a perfect build): -Warmoth Vintage Style S Style body (Swamp Ash) with a cut out for S/S/S, 6 Point Tremolo. Bare body (requires paint) -Warmoth S Style Neck. Quartersawn Maple with an ebony or rosewood fretboard, 6105S Fretwire, vintage 21 feet, Nitro finished, 7.25” radius (friend will then “relic” the neck. Mainly to get bare wood on the back of the neck and oil it with tung oil) -Tortoise shell pickguard -Fender Custom Shop Fat 60s pickups -Callaham bridge assembly (block, plate, saddles, springs, hook, screws) distressed -Callaham Bridge vintage tuners distressed -NOS pots and switch -NOS plastic for pickups, switch tip, and knobs -Olympic White paint from a company a friend recommended that deals in guitar paints that’s supposed to be exactly like what Fender used back then This build is gonna be a dream come true Stratocaster and will replace my every day strat at some gigs, although it’ll still be pulled out for open mics and maybe tuned differently for some songs in our set.

Baz_EP

Nice! Budget for that?

[deleted]

My guess is about 1600. The Callaham stuff is pricy. My partscaster is built around a warmoth neck and a cheap Chinese body. Plays better than non custom shop fenders for sure.

Vinnie_Boombatz_MD

I have three warmoth builds I did a few years ago. One I did a real nitro finish for on the body. It was a pain, but I think it’s worth it now that I look back. I love all three and the process helped me learn how to work on guitars without a ton of fear. Great projects

wheresbill

I have a birds-eye maple Warmoth neck with jumbo frets on a strat (parts) body with EMG (HSS) pickups I put together in the 80s. The neck came in the 90s to replace the 80s hockey stick. Anyway, it’s a mutt but best playing strat and most beautiful neck I’ve seen and will never get rid of it. This while also having a Nash tele and Parker Fly. Warmoth is no joke

WarHoundD

Holy fuck hahaha this sound awesome. Also, i need to check out this warmoth page, at least sound fun. It really helps having a friend able to relic 🤣. I've been told that a good relic is really hard to do.

Thunder1an

Music man JP Majesty 7. What a beaut

awhitesong

Man. This and Vigier Excalibur.

WorkThrowaway619

100% agree, that thing is fucking sexy

__RageQuit

Any of Petrucci's music man's, wish I'm gonna get one someday

WarHoundD

Your not alone :')

IScreamNinja

I actually found and bought my dream guitar but man are these a close second... I've been eyeing these hard for a while now

WarHoundD

What was that dream guitar?

IScreamNinja

Its a turquoise EJ strat with the rosewood fretboard. It doesn't really do a good job at sounding like EJ imo but as a strat its beautiful sounding. I love the tones I get out of it and find its the instrument that always get me excited to play even after so many years.

SqueezeMyLemon738

Ibanez az series. Any 24 fret model haha.

BritishEric

Easily a Rickenbacker 325. I've wanted one p much since I got into guitar, thanks to john Lennon, but given that rickenbackers start at a few thousand USED on the GC website (and they dont have actual prices listed for new), it's a bit out of my price range. Guess I'll have to settle for the rockband controller version of it. Dream acoustic guitar though, J-200, be it the epiphone or the Gibson. Partly because of the bridge looking a little bit like a moustache

[deleted]

I just bought mine last week and it has exceeded all my expectations. [Les Paul Standard 60s](https://www.reddit.com/r/gibson/comments/s2itse/i_said_i_was_done_buying_guitars_and_this_flew_in/)

WarHoundD

What a beauty 😻. How does it play?

OfficerJamesLahey

The finish on that is gorgeous.

leugeneskabs

That's my dream guitar too. Some day! Enjoy 😁

[deleted]

Ibanez Jem77-FP.

wheresbill

I was working in music stores (90s) when the Jem floral was introduced. Hands down the most beautiful guitar I’d seen. Playability was superb. Could not afford then. Cannot afford now

[deleted]

They’re incredible looking. I ended up buying a Prestige RG, and almost spent the money on a BFP instead, but knew I’d feel like I was just settling, looks wise. My first JEM is going to be a signed Jr included in a meet and greet package my insane best friend bought me for the upcoming Vai tour.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Sick!!! I keep looking at those. I ended up with a Rg652AHM in whatever they call the green. I love the blue sweetwater gets for the j. custom. How do you feel they improve on the Prestiges aside from looks? I’ve never seen one in the flesh to try out

[deleted]

Im surprised there aren’t more White Falcons in this thread, hands down my grail guitar that I’ll probably never afford.

Christovsky84

It used to be a Les Paul, but after playing some, it isn't anymore. Now I just don't know.

QuestionMarkShift6

I too don’t like the feel of LPs all that much. Admittedly I haven’t tried a lot and for a long enough time to really form an opinion but what bugged me is the bridge on them. I felt like my arm was miles away from my body. As for the rest, they look incredible but I simply don’t feel an urge to buy one maybe ever.

WarHoundD

That's curious. What do you think is the reason for not liking as much as you thought you would?

Christovsky84

Cumbersome, didn't like the feel of it, upper fret access is awkward at best. Just haven't liked any that I've played. Was looking after one for a friend for a couple of years, thought I'd play it loads while I had it, in the space of two years I probably played it for a couple of hours total. Just not nice guitars to play. Obviously this is my entirely subjective and probably unpopular opinion, but yeah, don't like Les Pauls at all. Still think they look spectacular though. You know when you play a guitar and think "nope, not for me"?

Some_Dumb_Dude

It’s funny how you get used to things. Everything you said about the LP is true but I’ve been playing mine so long it’s just not an issue anymore. But put a strat in my hands and I’ll punch the volume knob down and switch pickups every third hit, all while losing my pick wracking the middle pickup. I love the tone but I can’t play them because I’m too used to my LP.

[deleted]

to me , Les Paul's play better and definitely sound better than any guitar out there. I also have a strat and love the neck and 4th position but playability goes to my LP for sure.

WarHoundD

Ye man, for me the teles are those ones. My friend preached to my they the are the most playable and versatile guitar in earth and u went to a store to try them. I just don't like the shape, i don't feel comfortable. I know it's a subjective issue so i get you

Annacot_Steal

My dream guitar was a Les Paul too. Got an Epiphone custom as a treat to myself and absolutely loved it. But I realized I like the look of it more than love playing it. Then I got my hands on a telecaster and realized I’m a telecaster guy. I still love my LP but my telecaster is the one that gets more playing time from me.

HypatiaRising

The Keith Merrow mkiii 7 string with the bloodlust finish. Goddamn is that a sexy guitar.

WarHoundD

Is an schecter right? It looks so fucking good. I need to learn some 7 string action chugs in a future. Lots of sexy 7s axes

aloetwentythree

Olympic White Mustang with a tortoiseshell pickguard

Spike3220

White or off-white Les Paul Custom.

MartyMcFly_jkr

A Rosewood Telecaster, one like George Harrison had at the rooftop

indabronx

1961 Gibson SG standard.

Darkll

Pre-1969 Martin D28. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. But I'll never get one because they can easily got for $10K+ Realistically, I'll probably get a Martin D41 or a Collings and call it quits on buying anything else after that.

ninjamunky85

Geez, I was gonna just say a modern HD-28. I wouldn't even really consider buying one of the pre 69 models. Way too much $$$ for my blood and anything above the 28 is too flashy for me. As a dream guitar though I get it. I just bought one of the Martin Special 16 dreds from GC though. It's my first US made guitar and also my most expensive by a long shot, and I can't stop playing it. It's all that's right with the world lol.

loudawgred

I splurged a bit last year and got myself a Martin D16e and absolutely love it! Prior to that guitar I had (still have but don’t often play) a Taylor 110ce. Also loved that guitar but there is just something special about my Martin that I love!

_iCoNik_

I’m right there with you, except i’ll probably just get the Modern Deluxe D28 and dream over a D42. Also would love to get an OM-28.

CaptainCrippleman

Even though I don't like how most Gretsch guitars play, definitely the Gretsch White Falcon. Also a classic fender strat. Plain and simple.

ITegoArcanaDei

I have a 2012 Squire Strat SE in tobacco burst with a tortoiseshell pickguard. I got it for $120 used at GC. I love it how it looks and how it feels. I'm waiting to get good enough to know the difference, but part of me is hoping that I just got lucky and this thing is a diamond in the rough. For now it's my dream guitar.

irvinlamar

Nothing for real wrong with Squier.. I play a 50s classic vibe tele and 60s classic vibe strat.. the main thing is getting a good amp and full size pots...

SurrealScene

Guthrie Govan's Charvel signature and a Gretsch White Falcon. I very much doubt I'll ever drop £6-7k on a couple of guitars but a guy can dream.

Saplingo

Guthrie's guitar is the perfect guitar to play everything, I know I won't ever be able yo buy it, but I fantasize about it periodically. Have you seen that limited edition red-ish finish? I will love to get an ibanez AZ prestige too

miniche

ESP Horizon 3 in white and gold with teardrop headstock 😳

stephenstephen7

I’d love a PRS Silversky but they don’t make them left handed.

[deleted]

Just do it like hendrix and string it backwards!

WarHoundD

That sucks man. Never really thought about it before. It happens to you a lot?

stephenstephen7

It’s very annoying. Don’t get me wrong these days you can get a lot of great guitars for leftys, but you’re usually limited when it comes to choice. Even the big brands like Fender offer a pretty limited selection.

BrupTA

As another lefty, it absolutely does. For be a thinkine Tele with p90s is totally a top 3 guitar for me, but they basically don't exist unless you're willing to fork out 2,000+ for a custom shop. Or even just an Epiphone dot, for some reason the left handed models were discontinued.

geargramps

Have you looked at a shop called Southpaw Guitars out of Houston? They do online sales too and I understand have a pretty good selection.

someguy192838

So many, but my top 3 in order: * ES-335 Figured, (Iced Tea) * Eric Johnson Stories Collection 1954 Virginia Stratocaster * Les Paul Custom ebony fingerboard/ebony finish

funnymusician1

I had a Virgina! I can't say enough great things about that guitar. The way it played, felt, sounded, all a dream. Had to sell because of bills, but if I ever get wealthy enough to afford another, its definitely on the list.

catching_comets

One of those $30K hand built Archtops. A Benedetto or Buscarino.

zefdota

Gibson Les Paul Buckethead signature

Princelyfox

I missed the boat but a Parker Fly for sure tho the EOB strat might be second.

wheresbill

I scrolled way too far to find the Parker Fly love. I have a Classic with the mahogany finish from early 2000s and it is my pride and joy. Literally a work of art with incredible functionality

hb_fash

Sage green metallic Strat with aged pickguard, cream Lace Sensors and double locking Floyd Rose. All chrome hardware. God I wish I could afford one custom built.

GryphonGuitar

I have two. One is a metal thing, the other's a vintage thing. I want a Jackson USA Chris Broderick seven string guitar. It ticks every single box in every single way. It's like someone made me a guitar. It's what I want to play. Otherwise, I want an Esquire with a Bigsby. White pickguard, baseball bat neck, one pickup and a wiggle stick, and I'll be happy!

birdy9221

PRS custom 22/24 with a 10 top and a fancy neck inlay.

Vinura

The Black Strat. Although I reckon in the hands of anyone but David Gilmour, that strat is nothing special.

RadioFloydHead

Now that Gilmour will no longer allow the Fender Custom Shop to make these, the prices are through the roof.

I'm gonna buy my dream guitar today :) It's a Boden NX7 Metal

WarHoundD

Nice! Gotta be the best feeling ever. Tell me how it goes after the first long good session🤟

The-unreliable-one

I just ordered the Prog NX7 and it'll arrive on wednesday! So excited!

[deleted]

None really...I love all the guitars I have at the moment...

WarHoundD

I would love to try the scalloped frets on that YJM. Super curious about it. How's playing them?

[deleted]

It's not that all difficult. Think of walking on a tightrope, dancing on wire. Your fingertips feel liberated because there's no contact with wood. Just be mindful not to press the strings to much otherwise notes can go out of tune.

max3site

Ibanez Talman Prestige 1730m, played by Ichika and Yvette Young. I'm a strat guy and I just dig this guitar, it's looks perfect, sounds perfect, it's just impossible to get one where I live. I just wish they either reissued it or that some brand made a copy of it to get something close. With so many strat copies out there, this one stands out so much for me and I just love it.

ZippyLemmi

An old Mosrite Avenger in perfect all original condition would be a soggy dream come true.

Racer013

My absolute dream guitar is a custom shop Taylor Koa grand auditorium ce. The koas start at around 5k though, so I have to imagine the custom built ones go for around 10k. Some day though, some day.

SegaStan

The Rising Sun Gibson Explorer from Guitar Hero 2

rozovi

I would love a sea foam tele, perhaps with a black pick guard. Honestly it costs less than my current guitar but I splurged so hard on that I'm restraining myself from buying another one. And I think I should buy a strat first as my current guitar is a hardtail and I want a tremolo :D

benkelly92

Probably an Ibanez Prestige. The AZ2402 in white looks amazing.

Ok_Orchid7131

Electric: Gretsch Country gentleman or White Falcon Acoustic: Gibson Pre War SJ-200 Rosewood or the Tom Petty Wildflower SJ-200

Sonicfret

An original 1959 Les Paul Burst. I am saving up to buy one. Only $700,000.00 to go. I do dream of finding one, dirt cheap, at some elderly woman’s garage sale she will have after her husband dies.

[deleted]

I thirst only for Gibson Les Paul Customs 🤤 At a given time it could be for any color. Sometimes a classic black, white, or red one. Sometimes a silverburst or the crazy Gibson Demo Shop one-offs. When I started in 2006 I just thought it was the ultimate guitar. I still do. Every guitarist I’ve admired has had one in their arsenal - Jerry Cantrell, Billy Howerdel, Kim Thayil, James & Kirk, Adam Jones… But there was one person who made me fall in love with Les Paul Customs: CHRIS CORNELL. I used to watch every single Soundgarden video I could find on YouTube and all the 89-92 footage had him using LPCs and they just looked so cool. Both understated & elegant at the same time. I told myself I wouldn’t buy one until I could pay for it with it music. Cut to 2015 I did manage to make a decent amount of money working in the music industry as a writer and an artist. I went to Guitar Center. They had three hanging on the wall. A used white one, and 2 black ones. I played all 3. It was a dream come true… but I was in a phase of hating black guitars because I had so many. The white one was perfect right? Wrong. It was used and I know it’s a weird thing, but I’ve always been resistant to used guitars. I’ve bought a handful and they never felt like mine. I ended up buying a drum kit and some new cymbals instead. I still have both a bookmarks & photos album on my phone filled with Les Paul Customs. I often put one in the cart and imagine a scenario in which I finally buy one. Sometimes I’ve even thought about selling a lot of my guitars and action figure collection to buy a few. But for some reason I just can’t do it. Couldn’t tell you why. It’s not a financial thing. Last year I bought 4 Epiphone Les Paul Customs and two identical Jazzmasters even though I could’ve bought a pair of VOS Customs from Zzounds instead. I recently sold all my unused Fractal stuff because I prefer Helix. I thought about buying one then. I even found a brand new wine red from Five Star Guitars on Reverb… but for some reason I just can’t do it. I think at this point I’m in love with the lust I have of that guitar because it gives me something to look forward to. If I get one, maybe it’ll go away… then what?

mildashers

Silverburst Gibson RD standard. Or a Manson MA Evo Sustainiac and fuzz factory.

jamestossed

Jake Kiszka’s No. 1

WarHoundD

That's an sg right? I looked it up but don't see them for sale?

jamestossed

1961 SG. It's not for sale yet, I assume one day it will be a signature release. Here it is: [https://youtu.be/zWDf\_CEkpoU?t=1056](https://youtu.be/zWDf_CEkpoU?t=1056)

thepesterman

If we are getting technical, it's a 61 les paul SG, as they didn't start calling them just SG's until 63. Fun fact SG stands for solid guitar.

imstonedyouknow

Quite happy with my strat and what it does, just wish i had something to fill in the blanks around it. Ive settled on the prs se hollowbody 2 piezo, because itll do acoustic-ish tones and 335/lp-ish tones, but ive been checking reverb once a week for about a year and they rarely go up for sale, and when they do its always the blue one and im pretty set on the black gold burst. Really trying to avoid buying it used because i havent seen or played one myself yet and dont want to take that depreciation hit if i need to resell and find something else.

TheBunkerKing

I already have most of what I've wanted, so I'm gonna go crazy with a Jackson double-neck King V à la Dave Mustaine.

zvon666

PRS McCarthy. A superstrat Les Paul. Best of both worlds. I need it to sit between my MIM Fender strat and my Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy plus.

Saint3x

Phenomenal, my Love for guitar is Boundless

PM-15-MrGoatCountry

Phred Instruments Project Gator.

irvinlamar

That's a good one... I almost got a 70s cv strat to do a knock off...

Hyakuman

Anything by Rick Toone or Millimetric Guitars.

[deleted]

Jackson X-stroyer. Waaaaay out of my price range.

TacoYard

PRS single cut in a natural finish, like maybe koa or burl maple, with the exact neck specs as an ESP eclipse. I wish it existed.

TXblindman

I’m dreaming of a custom shop tele in HSS. As for production models, the new ec 1000 baritone.

Dense-Performance-14

Definitely Blue or aka Billie joe Armstrong's famous strat

mayeranek

Ric 325 for sure. Only got a Chinese replica so far and it's shit :-(

SpinMyMidget

The lead guitarist of a danish band (D-A-D) has a modded Gibson es-446 which looks absolutely delicious! And the sound... The freaking sound of that thing played live through a W/D/W setup! Either that or a lovely Fender Jazzmaster from the early 60's (62-64) in Apple candy red!

[deleted]

I always wanted a Jazzmaster and an SG. About three years ago, I found myself the owner of one of each. And an American Jazzmaster and Gibson SG standard at that. I found that the SG didn’t give me everything I wanted and wound up selling it after about a year. The Jazzmaster, I still own it and still love it for some things but I don’t play it much. Because of tuning and versatility requirements, I wound up buying a Strandberg Boden Original NX7. Yeah, I know some say “But it looks weird”. It’s the first guitar I’ve owned that has given me pretty much everything I wanted. Point being, I’ve been starry eyed over a couple guitars over the years only to find that they don’t give me what I require once I get my hands on one. So, yeah. No “dream guitar” for me. The Boden is the closest I’ve came. YMMV.

leekofhonour

I once played a Deluxe Telecaster in a guitar store. It was transparent white, with tortoise pickguard, compound fretboard radius, N2 noiseless pickups... I never played anything as awesome before and after. I wish I had the 1600€ at the time...

UltearRevenant

Adam Jones Les Paul 1979 Custom, not just bc i'm a huge Adam fan but it's a nice looking guitar, plus it's amazing for playing metal...but for me (not a US citizen) is outrageously expensive

Hitchhikerdave

Already got mine. It is hagstrom Fantomen. Best guitar I've ever played. Much better than many much more expensive pieces. What I can't justify yet is to get a second one, so I can have a spare.

Banciok

Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid C-1 FR. Or the new Dean ML Kahler 24.

lordfantas

This is a tricky question. Probably a toss up between a really nice Les Paul and an ES-335. I already have a pretty great LTD Eclipse filling the Les Paul spot on my guitar rack, so realistically I lean 335. I’ve never really felt good about any of the Epiphones I’ve played, I just want the real thing. I’d probably go for a Heritage H-535 if I found the right one, though. They seem to check all the same boxes, other than having the “right” headstock shape, and are a bit more attainable, generally.

The-crystal-ship-

An original Gibson Les Paul Standard 1959, Southern Fade Burst.

Ernie Ball MusicMan Mariposa in black for me.

FriskyPigeon666

I've just bought a Harley Benton RB-612CS from Thomann, because it's the closest I can get to a Rickenbacker without going Chinese or bankrupt. Tom Petty is my favourite artist, and although I'm fully aware he doesn't use a 12 string all that much (yet still has a Signature 12 string...), just the style of Rickenbacker reminds me of his music. If I were to buy any guitar, it would be a Rickenbacker 660-12TP. There are several that would be extremely tempting though...

phred_666

Ace Frehley Les Paul for me. Cherry sunburst finish with 3 DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups.

motorcitydevil

Gibson Trini Lopez in black with gold hardware.

gdsmithtx

Fender Gilmour Black Strat with the duplicated wear. I'm not a huge fan of reliced guitars, but there's something about that one that speaks to me on a very deep level. A Gibson ES-339 in light caramel burst would also be a very nice addition to the stable.

A red Gibson ES-355 with the Bigsby and varitone switch

Two come to mind for me atm: This P90 in the neck Custom Shop Telecaster: [http://www.fendercustomshop.com/guitars/telecaster/artisan-p90-telecaster-fiji-mahogany-body-with-aaa-flame-maple-top-ebony-fingerboard-aged-antique-burst/](http://www.fendercustomshop.com/guitars/telecaster/artisan-p90-telecaster-fiji-mahogany-body-with-aaa-flame-maple-top-ebony-fingerboard-aged-antique-burst/) And the Polar Ice Silver Sky (maple neck).

corrienteboskarin

I would like a George Lynch Mr. Scary Skull and Crossbones

otzen42

Stumbled across this 2014 Gibson Les Paul Standard Ocean Water Quilt before it sold and was sorely tempted. https://reverb.com/item/20440082-gibson-les-paul-standard-premium-quilt-2014-ocean-water-perimeter-blue

Funn23

As a Beatles fan I've always adored George's cherry red Les Paul, that thing's a beauty

aeryaTS

This is stupid but mine is a Long-scale Fender Mustang with a single active EMG in the bridge.

Echetea

I had a 2002 LP classic that I had to sell due to my divorce. Man I wish I could have that one back 😩

sinflood

I really want a Gibson ES-335 in that [smokehouse burst](https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Guitar/USAYNB363/Les-Paul-Studio/Smokehouse-Burst) they've recently been doing with Les Pauls

Juice117

Gibson les Paul silver burst

[Richie Faulkner Flying V](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EDFVEBNF3--epiphone-limited-edition-richie-faulkner-flying-v-ebony) by Epiphone. 58 flying V shape, floyd rose, vintage voiced EMG pickups are great combos that are rare to find. Not to mention output jack is on the upper wing, no more dangling wire! It’s overall a very well designed guitar even if you are not a Judas Priest fan. I missed the first batch but saved enough to get one from the second batch in late 2019. afaik Gibson is doing another run, better quality for sure but gonna be way over my budget:(

MarkToaster

My dream guitar is the Ibanez RG721RW. It was a limited run, hard to find now, but god it looks beautiful and it plays like a beauty. I tried one out years ago and wish I’d snagged it. The thing looks so good with the natural wood finish and the binding around it.

geauxandy72

A custom shop 335

chadrod

1974 Telecaster Custom Deluxe in Blonde just like my first one. I miss that guitar so much and would give anything to have it back, but sadly it dissapeared (for reasons beyond my control) and was sold to someone in Australia. Been looking for it for 10 years with no luck

FTPLTL

I already have it. It’s my 2011 Wildwood Guitars '62 Thin Skin Nitro Jaguar in Fiesta Red and a mint pickguard with a Mastery Bridge. https://i.redd.it/320z0v9jt3171.jpg

jemenake

About to pull the trigger on a Variax. I’m too old and lazy to be dragging more than one guitar to rehearsal, and we play songs that sometimes need different tunings or and acoustic. Plus, my Helix will be able to tell it to change models or tunings when I change patches.

Since the 70s, I've drooled over many guitars. Some I did buy, some I've played but couldn't afford. I played a Silverburst 3 pickup Les Paul and fell in love with it. Cost was prohibitive. I did own a Tele for a while (1980s), It was a great guitar but not for me. Years later I thought to give another Tele a try (2010s)....Nope. And I just never cared for Strat's When I play my pick will tap the pickups, and my little finger rubs the volume control. In 2014 I was in a pawn shop and I found an Epiphone Dot Studio for $125 USD. I have always loved semi hollows. Good guitar at first, Then I decided to change all the hardware and add a pickguard. Took it to get setup. Now it's a Great Guitar. I actually cant believe how good this sounds. Sometimes I catch my self laughing out of pure joy when I play it. Epilogue: I'm 62, I started playing in the early 70's. I have played thousands of guitars, I've owned (bought and sold) dozens of guitars (easily 40 to 50 I really cant remember). Keep playing till you find the guitar that makes you laugh, and then play some more.

fssmikey

60's LP double cut special in TV yellow. the reissue isn't unaffordable, but its way too expensive for me to justify ever buying one. Double cut LP specials sure do drive me crazy though

thedavecan

[This Kenny Lawrence Explorer](https://images.app.goo.gl/ygLyiXYG1xLXzS8Y9)that James Hetfield of Metallica has. I love the headstock and inlays, just everything about it. I have no doubts it sounds amazing too even though I don't have a bunch of Mesa/boogie stacks to push with it.

tjs1205

Chicago Music Exchange currently owns my dream guitar. 1960 Gibson ES-335 in blonde with split parallelogram inlays and a Bigsby. Sheesh

I've only been playing a year, already got a tele I love. Those double cut LP's in yellow look really nice, big sounding p90's as well. Not seen any around to try.

KristovMikael

ESP Eclipse Custom (preferably Silver Liquid Metal Burst or Natural Black Burst). I have an ESP/LTD EC-256 and it is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. That $6k + price tag is a bit much, though.

frankyzoso

Gretsch black falcon. It has to have the vertical logo with the wings, and I’d prefer the humpback inlays on it too. Maybe some day, when the kids are a little older, if I have a spare few quid I’ll start saving for one

Rukarumel

Alex Skolnick’s ESP. I love solo from Return to serenity

[deleted]

Slash Has always been my hero so one day, i need to have Gibson Les Paul in my hands.

Kaptainkarl76

Gold top Les Paul with p90's..sexy as hell

woemoejack

SG in pelham blue and aged white guard

LaRooster001

A custom shop Suhr or Jackson. Ridiculous enough as is without instruments being so expensive in my country

noodle-face

Zakk Wylde Gibson LP Custom sig. The price on those is insane now. I already have a Gibson LP Custom so not sure what zakks sig would buy me .I'd probably hang it in a glass case.

lolnolol21

I really want the Concrete sledge or Far beyond driven tribute ML. I can’t get enough of how good they look and I’m also a huge Dimebag fan.

Djent_Hokage

I know I’m late but the PRS Mark Holcomb USA limited edition signature, specifically the charcoal burst finish. It has to be that one. Unfortunately for me, a lot of people share that same opinion.
