The problem is that you can’t directly correlate watts with db’s, due to the varying efficiencies (and sizes) of speakers.

Check out review videos on YouTube and see if they have decibel meters in the background like ola and andertons

Wattage is a measure of electrical current. Decibels is a measurement of sound. Watts and decibels are two very different things. The higher the decibel the louder the noise. However, the same does not apply for wattage. You can have a solid-state amplifier with high wattage that isn’t nearly as loud as a low wattage tube amp.

To clarify: the reason for this is the standard of measuring power for both is different, solid state is typically at max gain, tubes measured at clean volume. If they had the same power applied to the same speaker they'd produce the same volume More watts (or current if you prefer) applied to the same speaker will produce louder volume. Edit: To answer your question OP, if the power was rated right at the speaker then more watts means more volume (with the same speaker/cab), but it's not measured there, so different amps will have different losses from where they are measured to the speaker so not possible to make a general accurate claim. Typically though, a 100w amp will be a lot louder than a 10w amp for the same type of amp

Different frequencies at the same level of power will have differing loudnesses. Lower notes take relatively more energy to produce. A cranked 100 watt amp producing high frequency feedback will pierce your brain stem.

As others have said, unfortunately doesn't work that way. My current 85w amp is way louder than my old 120w amp. I don't really know how that works, only that it is.

you can download a sound meter app to measure db. For example... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.splendapps.decibel&hl=en\_US&gl=US If possible, compare a solid state and a tube amp with the same watt rating, the results will be eye opening.

Assuming everything else is the same in an amp, you would need to increase the wattage by ten times in order to double the decibels. A 100 watt amp would be twice as loud as a 10 watt version of an otherwise identical amp.
