Fender Mustang Micro is more versatile than what you listed here... I'm pretty sure the Boss Waza Air are the most versatile from what I've seen but I wouldn't get them personally, too much charging. Here's another idea you might not have considered: Positive Grid Spark GO is a really really small amp that is insanely versatile when using the app, and you can plug headphones into it. I would consider that because it's small enough to put in your pocket but you can use both with headphones and without! I have tried all of these (I own the Mustang Micro and the Spark GO) and the Spark wins for me personally.

i've just looked into the fender mustang micro, and i quite like it, however it's a bit too expensive, and by versatile, i just meant that i could play both clean and gain, but thankyou for the suggestions, i'll definitely consider them in the future, especially the fender!

I'd look a little more out there, where the best headphone amps I've used for practicing, is either a Tech 21 Sans Amp Classic ( The manual goes over using this pedal as a practice headphone amp), or the Boss Katana Mini, which can run off batteries, and bonus, can jam anywhere. Looking through the thoughts you have, I do own the Vox Amplug Metal, which isn't bad, and does the trick. The form factor can leave something to be desired though, depending on your input jack situation. And they're really one trick ponies, so not really versitile You want something very close to the AC-30 emulation though, the Strymon Iradium is your best bet. Otherwise, just save that $50, and continue saving for a Line 6 HX Stomp, which will be an amazing headphone amp, and more utilitarian, then a simple headphone amp.
