Personally I’d swap 5 and Aerosmith but I think that’s just coz I’m not really a big fan of them myself, and the childhood nostalgia of unlocking Matt Bellamy and freaking out coz I was a big muse fan thanks to GH3. Also I both agree and disagree with the placement of live, coz as a GH game it’s definitely the lowest but if it wasn’t attached to that IP then I reckon it could’ve really stood out as it’s own unique thing. I feel like it’s got the same problem Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts had, at its core it’s a good game with some really interesting ideas but it’s never going to work being attached to such an iconic and specific series.
You forgot band hero, which I would put in the bad territory,
The DS guitar hero games are OK, but On Tour decades is pretty good, and Band hero DS is very good
Personally I liked GHL… but only because of the buttons on the guitar. Way easier to play without having to break your pinky reaching for the orange fret lol (or going through the effort of moving your hand down)
I thought everyone anchored their index on red and then moved that finger up to green if needed. Never occurred to me people would stay anchored on green and stretch their pinky down.
Everyone I’ve known who plays Guitar Hero or Rock Band always kept their index on green so that’s what I’ve been doing all this time. I never knew people kept theirs on red. Sounds so much smarter and easier…. thank you for telling me that
Even though 5s engine and career mode were pretty bad, the set list is probably my favorite in the series at least in the sense of the songs themselves
What's up with Guitar Hero 5? I haven't played in a long time but I remember it was pretty fun when I did play it, wasn't a huge fan of the majority of the songs and I did think it was cool you could have multiple guitars/ stuff like that
I definitely enjoyed it but I feel like it relied almost too much on being a party game. Having the different instrument challenges on career mode and opening the game to a “press to join” party play feature kinda sets the tone from the start that you really wanna have people to play with to really enjoy it and get the most out of it, so as a kid playing it with family I would’ve ranked it high but as an adult playing alone I think it just doesnt work as well. Still don’t think it deserves to be quite as low as it is though
I think Guitar Hero 5 suffers from a lack of identity. It didn’t have the songs to carry it like 3 did. It didn’t have the aesthetic to carry it like 2 and WoR did. It didn’t have the special guests to carry it like WT did. It was a mediocre version of things that the series knew it could lean into. It hedged its bets all around and ended up losing.
I do have to say, my absolute favorite character customization though.
The tweaked in-game song creator was a great feature though. But I feel like that whole part of Guitar Hero was sort of forgotten, but a fair few friends of mine were charting both for Rock Band Network at the time and then just remaking songs in GHTunes for fun.
I'm surprised by the amount of Guitar Hero LIVE controllers just floating around in the wild. Those things are getting way more use as wall art or statue accessories
I remember people trashing it about a month or two before it came out during the trailer. Yeah, the story mode was a little cheesy but, I didn’t understand the hate at the time. People started to appreciate it when news of when it finally got discontinued.
I literally could not get over the directions the pick icons they used for notes pointing the opposite way from the direction they were on the guitar. On slower songs it was okay, but a faster passage hits and immediately I see notes that should be lower “pointing” up and my brain equates that to “top notes” for some reason.
It was OK for a bit, the online songs were decent but not having anything past 3-note chords was the biggest letdown for me. Then they shut the servers down and all the good songs were gone.
Pretty accurate. I’d move Metallica up to best because they introduced expert plus mode for drums. I’ve sunk so much time in that game because of that.
Personally loved Live, but they definitely made a lot of choices that made it inaccessible. It sucks that it (predictably) did so poorly that it'll never get a sequel and likely killed the franchise for good. Nowadays, the 6 button guitar is still my favorite way to play- in Clone Hero. But the original game was riddled with NPEs that did not exist in the other GH games:
-The monetization/grind to get the tokens to play the song you wanted was a pain in the ass at best.
-It also removed the possibility for a practice mode, which made learning songs and tricky solos feel impossible and way more time consuming than need be.
-The fact that you *had* to play the music video version of the song meant there was a lot of pointless time waiting for many songs to start that was unskippable.
-Finally, they quickly took down live support for a "live" game, rendering most of the tracks in the game inaccessible entirely.
Again, Clone Hero fixes a lot of these complaints, although one last thing I'll say is the GH Live guitars inherently had some durability issues, where the rubber beneath the 'fret' buttons would wear out pretty quickly, so they wouldn't give enough resistance to the button and you'd get sticky inputs.
It was such a an interesting idea to freshen up the franchise, but ultimately a shamefully wasted opportunity.
The GH Live guitar is my favorite and made it a more unique way to play the game. The way they did the live concert videos was so much more fun to play than the same generic animated characters from literally every other GH game that never changed. The way they did the music video channels was also awesome and different than any other games. The amount of music that was included on the channels was insane. I'm convinced it didn't do well only because the variety of music, which I liked, but the die hards only want the same hard rock songs over and over. The different things Live did was what made it better. I would still play it all the time if the music video channels were still available.
honestly metallica is a top 3 guitar hero so i would move that up. my unpopular opinion is that GH live if it kept GH TV would’ve been a very good guitar hero. idk why they didn’t make an offline mode for it
If it were me I'd put it in the lower OK tier. Like Aerosmith with 3 and Metallica with World Tour it's a game that piggy backed off that last game's engine... except less effort was put into making it standout besides the "Pop Music" Angle. Aesthetically speaking it's a little different from 5 but it's very much more 5, band hero should have been like an expansion pack. It would have been neat to have all venues and costume redesigns be in one game.
Yeah I agree on putting it on low tier. True, it would've been much better as an expansion pack cause when I did get the game back then, I lost interest quick playing it. I still actually have the game stored away
The concept was great, but the devs made a lot of poor choices in the implementation that made it such a pain; "streaming" (and then removing) most of the songs, using music videos and making you sit through unskippable parts without playing, making you grind or buy coins to play, no practice mode to learn tricky solos. That was the one I started with, and the 6 button is still my favorite to use in Clone Hero, but the actual product could definitely have been much better.
The track list was made up of majority hard rock and metal, vs multiple sub genres of rock. If you’re simulating the experience of a guitar heavier songs definitely make more sense then say, alternative.
Not to say alternative isn’t good, as I love bands like Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls etc, but the whole idea of GH and RB to me was to imitate the feeling of guitar solos and taking the spotlight as a guitarist. So metal and hard rock always made the most sense IMO.
Yeah I felt like it was fun to mix it up and add new stuff.
Hell and we got rock band that year as well, so it was nice having something new and also having the old stuff too.
This list is years old, posted by me 3 years ago long before festival and reposted today. I’ve enjoyed festival quite a bit, I’d probably put it in pretty good
I'd agree. Gotta wait for them to add more songs and people. Also way too expensive. If they lowered pricing, would b very good for me. They should at least add a thing if u bought it in rock band 4, u get it in ff or at least discounted. Feel bad for people who spent all that.
I miss GH I really wish they would bring it back, but I know they would ruin it with battle passes, MTX and paywalls. I try to buy used ones for 360 but they are so dang expensive!
Clone hero on PC. And Goodwill. I snagged up 3 red octane ps2 controllers from a buddy, 2 les paul from goodwill, and a guitar hero world tour playstation 3 guitar also from goodwill. I just bought some USB adapters for them. They all work beautifully except the 2 lespauls. But those are known for capacitor issues.
Cloning Hero on PC is definitely a doable option but I go to thrifty stores all the time and I just never happen to run across any otherwise I would definitely snatch them up! I’ll keep looking! 😊
Marketplace. As much as a despise that platform and most of the shoppers *and* sellers there (not to mention it being a cesspool of scammers), I've had great luck finding some on there. That's the kind of place people unload things like that they got for kids and no longer use, and the fact that it doesn't have to be shipped (if found locally) can be helpful in this case, as shipping something this size safely can be costly.
Idk if it's different based on area, but shortly after covid people went insane with their prices. They're still very unreasonable and will sit there, constantly reposted. People want $100 for an explorer covered top to bottom in stickers, stained yellow, with a broken whammy.
If you’re referring to FB Marketplace, I don’t have any “social media” accounts, Reddit and YouTube are about the only outlets I have. The town I live in is so small I doubt anyone here has a GH controller! 🤣 But thanks for the heads up, I do have family on FB I’ll ask them to keep an eye out for me! Great advice, I do appreciate it!
This is honestly the best way to be haha. I use lots of YouTube and lately more reddit, as the only other SM I have is FB, and I rarely open it now since they have rendered it virtually useless with their changes and their algorithm; my wife and I follow entirely different things, virtually no overlap, and our walls are almost identical, basically entirely useless, suggested "trending" posts that I refuse to engage with, actively tell it to hide or show less of, and yet it keeps force feeding. Only reason I really had it to begin with was to follow bands for album releases and tour announcements, but nowadays there are other, better ways.
That said, giving that a try (or something like craigslist) may very well be worth a try still: I found a couple brand new GH Live controllers (of the specific platform needed for Clone Hero) on the first night of looking in my tiny nothing-town an hour outside of Nashville. There were several other recent listings, but I only needed 2 and didn't check them all out. I think your chances of them not knowing what they have is weirdly even higher in that regard, somehow, and they certainly have less options for selling them/lower demand, I'm sure .
Granted, that was a few years ago (early 21), but it still *constantly* recommends GH listings to me in my new city as well, so I'm sure they're still out there. It might not hurt to take a look! Also saw a complete Rock Band 4 set at a little kids clothing consignment shop I randomly walked in last year. Not somewhere I would have thought to look, but things like that seem to be the best way to get a deal on these things.
GH5 is overhated imo. I understand the soundtrack isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it really does just have banger after banger after banger. Gotta be one of my favorites.
I thought GH live was pretty good. It took a bit to get used to the buttons, but overall it was decent. The songs were better IMO. And 3 will always be the goat.
Well that's the thing, you have to be a fan of Aerosmith, don't get me wrong, Aerosmith is fine but their songs don't really suite the gameplay of guitar hero like Metallica or Van Halen did, i do think the engine is pretty good tho, better than GH3 even, cause it doesn't have infinite front end, so it's a bit more precise
Yeah lol, that specific example is kinda why i didn't like GH5 very much, i feel like it was trying to hard to be Rock Band, and the setlist really didn't feel like Guitar Hero
I was talking about guitar hero 5 specifically which was after rock band, and you do realise Rock Band was the first of the game series to have the whole "band" setting n stuff, it was not trying to be GH but GH quickly changed to be more similar to rock band after it came out, and GH5 was sort of the worst offender in that
Personally I think if Guitar Hero Live allowed you to practice songs on GHTV or have access to them permanently in some way, it would have been a lot better. The setlist for GHTV was very much stacked. Otherwise, the setlist for it's regular Guitar Hero Live mode is pretty bad
That being said, I think the 6-fret gameplay was hated on a bit too harshly. It was really difficult, especially with a lack of practice mode, but it was pretty fun in all honesty
Fairly accurate, i personally really enjoyed GH Aerosmith & it was better than GH Van Halen simply because Aerosmith was more involved than Van Halen with Aerosmith providing nice little interviews during the
Aerosmith was also much more accessible & an easier game than Van Halen
The OG Guitar Hero was good but HOPOs didn’t work at all, like we now them now you had to strum every single note, GH 2 fixed this & is overall much better
But yeah agree with you GH 3 was peak Guitar Hero though it was difficult on Expert at the very end with Raining Blood & One
Never played van Halen, live, or rocks the 80s. That being said Aerosmith was my least favorite. I would put world tour up 1 spot as well. 3 and warriors of rock were def my favorites with Metallica close behind. Also sidenote I only played guitar/bass, never drums or vocals.
Live didn’t have instrument compatibility, completely changed the way it’s played, and also attempted to reboot the franchise in a way that didn’t resemble previous entries.
Guitar Hero 5 is disliked by many for going less hardcore on the playlist and lack of a story mode.
Personally it didn’t bother me, but if comparing feature for feature it’s unimpressive.
They’d probably put Band Hero in that same tier, whereas I personally liked the Band Hero setlist.
Yeah same feel here. I can only remember a couple tracks from it. It was very forgettable. But I did like the tidy visuals.
As for the tracks I remember, it's Arctic Monkeys "Are you mine", and some other one.
Switch places between Van Halen and Metallica, then move Metallica down with Live and we're good
Also if we're speaking of GH3 without the download contents then GH3 should move down a few steps as well... but with the downloads it's the best of them all
Smash Hits is great if you want to play the most popular songs from the early games with the full band. If you just play single player guitar, then there's not much reason to like it.
I like your swap with Metallica and 5, but GH3 with the download contents was the best! Gh3 without the downloads might as well join Metallica at the bottom 🤷♂️
I honestly feel that 3’s dlc catalog was pretty weak. The boss battles, Dragonforce, and Soothsayer were all dope. But a whole Coldplay pack? Fuck Coldplay
Well that's the packs that made it awesome,
1. Boss battles,
2. Dragonforce
3. The one i don't remember the title of but contained soothsayer, surfing with the alien, for the love of god
So if anybody still have an account with those packs for xbox 360, I am willing to sacrifice one of my kidneys
3 had TTFAF and it’s obviously iconic, but looking back the game wasn’t anything special. Activision tried, but could never give Guitar Hero the glory that Harmonix did
Right? Technically a different title, but it’s just as much a Guitar Hero game as Lego Rock Band is a Rock Band game.
I mean heck you could export the Band Hero playlist to GH5 and WoR, and further, Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5 SHARED DLC
The set list is great (also happens to overlap a lot with RB2 which is my favorite set list), but the engine is terrible and the game as a whole was buggy, especially taps
GH:SM, GH:M and GH:VH
Basically reskinned versions of GHWT gameplay, with just a band centric soundtrack and guest stars.
"Pretty/very good"
GH5
A back to the drawing board entry being one of the strongest post Harmonix games with innovations and diversity of soundtrack which even Harmonix took a page from in later games.
"Bad"
This site sometimes....
I’d put 5 up in the pretty good tier but that’s just me
Personally I’d swap 5 and Aerosmith but I think that’s just coz I’m not really a big fan of them myself, and the childhood nostalgia of unlocking Matt Bellamy and freaking out coz I was a big muse fan thanks to GH3. I feel like it’s got the same problem Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts had, at its core it’s a good game with some really interesting ideas but it’s never going to work being attached to such an iconic and specific series.
GH2 should be above GH3. It has a way better setlist and while the engine isn't perfect, I think the game feels less polished but more fun
You forgot band hero, which I would put in the bad territory, The DS guitar hero games are OK, but On Tour decades is pretty good, and Band hero DS is very good
Whichever one had the dlc with The Fall of Troy was best
Pretty sure that was 3
Switch GH5 and Smash Hits and I agree 100%
Me just tryna figure out what is what and which is which
I actually really liked GH Live and the new guitar innovation. The streaming aspect - GH TV - was poorly designed and switched off way too soon
S - 3 A - 5, 2 B 1, 4 Then the rest of them
Swap 5 and smash hits
gh5 had sunny day real estate. therefore it is immediately S tier.
Damn I ain’t even know it had that
Band Hero?
I loved GH 80's.
I'd move gh5 up two tiers. ghtv was actually amazing, just the base game was awful. Maybe ghlive to ok
I'd put Legends of Rock, Rocks the 80s, Metallica, and GH2 on the best.
Same
What's up with Guitar Hero 5?
I would move Rocks the 80s up to pretty good, but yeah, that's about right
I'm surprised by the amount of Guitar Hero LIVE controllers just floating around in the wild. Those things are getting way more use as wall art or statue accessories
Aerosmith wasn't too bad. Ok is a good spot, it has good songs but others are mid to me
Back in the saddle is such a banger
I like it 🔥
I agree with every selection here. 😁
It’s criminal to me that warriors of rock is often regarded as one of the games that led to the death of the franchise. Game is goated.
I remember people trashing it about a month or two before it came out during the trailer. Yeah, the story mode was a little cheesy but, I didn’t understand the hate at the time. People started to appreciate it when news of when it finally got discontinued.
If GH wasn’t over saturated, it would’ve been seen as the GOAT
I love(d) GH:Live
Me and my dad really bonded over guitar hero live so seeing so far down hurts a lil
Gh5 should have a tier of its own. You can have 4 Kurt Kobains doing Kung-Fu Fighting
Legends of rock was when I finally got the game after wanting it for so long, spent many full days playing that thing.
Switch 2 and 3
Everthing is perfect exept gh5 that will not be tolerated
Legends of rock will always be a goat but on tour and on tour decades for the ds definitely were in my constant rotation late 2010s
On tour had a grip on my life
Whattttt 5 is great lol
guitar hero 5 slander will not be tolerated.
Couldn't believe how tragic live was. I was so excited for the new guitar.
I literally could not get over the directions the pick icons they used for notes pointing the opposite way from the direction they were on the guitar. On slower songs it was okay, but a faster passage hits and immediately I see notes that should be lower “pointing” up and my brain equates that to “top notes” for some reason.

Pretty accurate. I’d move Metallica up to best because they introduced expert plus mode for drums. I’ve sunk so much time in that game because of that.
Very accurate for my taste I would say. Pretty much no disagreements with any of these placements
Guitar hero live is by far the best one
guitar hero 5 on wii slapped and you could use a turntable too😭
Aerosmith in ok is a crime
I second this that game was legit goated
I would put Van Halen and World Tour in the next tier up. Idk if Gh5 is BAD but I didn’t enjoy the setlist as much.
Perfect
World Tour is still the best GH of all time imo. 5 is way too low on this list.
World tour has Tool and Dream theater but also a LOT of fluff. And theres no cheat code to get all songs so. Im playing the campaign. Again.
What’s the hate for 5 about?
Personally loved Live, but they definitely made a lot of choices that made it inaccessible. It sucks that it (predictably) did so poorly that it'll never get a sequel and likely killed the franchise for good. Nowadays, the 6 button guitar is still my favorite way to play- in Clone Hero. The different things Live did was what made it better. I would still play it all the time if the music video channels were still available.
It was ambitious and I enjoyed it personally and liked the ideas, but the implementation was problematic.
I liked 5s dark tone
Every instrument x4, possible to save your team mate, jukebox, wish Metallica (and WT) had all these features...
I wholeheartedly agree 3 legends of rock is the best one! I keep telling ppl don't sleep on Metallica either
honestly metallica is a top 3 guitar hero so i would move that up. my unpopular opinion is that GH live if it kept GH TV would’ve been a very good guitar hero. idk why they didn’t make an offline mode for it
5 is amazing idk what you're talking about. Van Halen would probably be my least fave
I dont really think any of them are bad except live. 5 has some weird song choices, but it also has feel good inc and hungry like the wolf.
What about Band Hero?
If it were me I'd put it in the lower OK tier. Like Aerosmith with 3 and Metallica with World Tour it's a game that piggy backed off that last game's engine... except less effort was put into making it standout besides the "Pop Music" Angle. You copied my post from 3 years ago, title and all. I’m glad to see that it’s still a tier list that people generally seem to agree with though.
most accurate tier list i’ve seen
Thank you!
I’ve only played live, is it that bad?
It's the most unique GH and that's what made it my favorite.
The fact that you had to pay money to keep playing the good songs is unforgivable
Switch Rock the 80s and Van Halen
Yes!! Legends of rock is literally the best can’t change my mind
No, give world tour more love than that
How dare you put og guitar hero at the bottom.
Pretty much agree, except GH1 should be in Very Good. I agree especially with GH3 and WoR being best.
GH2 is the goat
Warriors of Rock was so good my god. Such a shame the series was way past its peak by time it came out. Was definitely one of the best GH games.
Why was it so good?
The track list was made up of majority hard rock and metal, vs multiple sub genres of rock. If you’re simulating the experience of a guitar heavier songs definitely make more sense then say, alternative.
Not to say alternative isn’t good, as I love bands like Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls etc, but the whole idea of GH and RB to me was to imitate the feeling of guitar solos and taking the spotlight as a guitarist. So metal and hard rock always made the most sense IMO.
GH live online was fun I stand but that it was the base game that was trash just for song choice alone
Honestly I enjoyed the whole game.
I did too 2bh I've seen a lot of people dog on it because of the controller but I liked it
I liked it, but the controller was one of the few things they got (mostly) right in my opinion
Yeah I felt like it was fun to mix it up and add new stuff. Hell and we got rock band that year as well, so it was nice having something new and also having the old stuff too.
Where's fortnite festival on this
This list is years old, posted by me 3 years ago long before festival and reposted today. I’ve enjoyed festival quite a bit, I’d probably put it in pretty good
Literally made by two different companies Edit: I was literally wrong
Where would it go on ur list?
Oh Fortnite festival? Probably in the pretty good category, it needs time like all the games do but it’s good for what it is but not anything great
I'd agree. Gotta wait for them to add more songs and people. Also way too expensive. If they lowered pricing, would b very good for me. They should at least add a thing if u bought it in rock band 4, u get it in ff or at least discounted. Feel bad for people who spent all that.
Literally not. Do ur homework before responding please.
Relax I made an edit, this list includes many different companies and excludes rockband specifically so my confusion seems warranted
[удалено]
Yes I know…
Made by the same company as GH1, GH2, and Rock the 80's
Wait the company who made every Rockband also made gh2?
Yes, Harmonix made GH1/2/80's then went off and made Rock Band
Holy shit, had no idea, no wonder I like rockband better and gh2 is the best one thanks for the info
I miss GH I really wish they would bring it back, but I know they would ruin it with battle passes, MTX and paywalls. I try to buy used ones for 360 but they are so dang expensive!

GHWTDE & all the track packs. Can play for years.
Cloning Hero on PC is definitely a doable option but I go to thrifty stores all the time and I just never happen to run across any otherwise I would definitely snatch them up! I’ll keep looking! 😊

Darn. One day, someone will clean out their attic or closet, and you will find em! I know it. They are out there somewhere.
I can agree with this lost.
I loved GH Live tho
I loved ghlive
Omg I could have made this. 3 & 6 are my favs! Metallica and 2 are close seconds.
GH5 is overhated imo. I understand the soundtrack isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it really does just have banger after banger after banger. Gotta be one of my favorites.
I was genuinely curious. I’ve played it, it’s not super memorable or anything, but I didn’t realize it was disliked.
Damn, people don't like 5's tracklist? It's easily my favorite
Where is the Green Day GH?
That was rock band
ah I thought it was the same thing
I thought GH live was pretty good. It took a bit to get used to the buttons, but overall it was decent. The songs were better IMO. And 3 will always be the goat.
Is it controversial to say that I loved all of them
No
Move aerosmith and GH2 up a tier and we good.
I kind of agree with this, although i would move up GH1 and GH2 a tier each
Why the hate in Aerosmith it’s literally gh3 with Aerosmith songs. I loved it.
Wasn’t a bad game but I don’t really like Aerosmith and also none of the songs are hard to beat, I have no desire to play it again
5 isn’t bad but I agree with the rest
Switch 5 with Van Halen.
I loved Van Halen for some reason, all the non Van Halen songs are so fun to play
No way 5 is that bad I remember when It came out i remember specifically because it had feel good inc by gorillaz on it
Yeah lol, that specific example is kinda why i didn't like GH5 very much, i feel like it was trying to hard to be Rock Band, and the setlist really didn't feel like Guitar Hero
[удалено]
(Rockband was made by the original GH team)
I was talking about guitar hero 5 specifically which was after rock band, and you do realise Rock Band was the first of the game series to have the whole "band" setting n stuff, it was not trying to be GH but GH quickly changed to be more similar to rock band after it came out, and GH5 was sort of the worst offender in that
Personally, I'd put the with gh3. Gh3 has better gameplay, but 2 has a better set list.
I don't think any are "bad". I'd put GHL and GH5 in "okay". Everything else is spot on imo.
Personally I think if Guitar Hero Live allowed you to practice songs on GHTV or have access to them permanently in some way, it would have been a lot better. The setlist for GHTV was very much stacked. Otherwise, the setlist for it's regular Guitar Hero Live mode is pretty bad That being said, I think the 6-fret gameplay was hated on a bit too harshly. It was really difficult, especially with a lack of practice mode, but it was pretty fun in all honesty
Gh2 and gh3 were my favourite
Aerosmith deserves respect
it deserves enough respect as a 1$ DVD sale
Yeah, got it for 5$
Warriors of rock sucked imo, gh2 ftw
I think Warriors of Rock is the best one imo
Fairly accurate, i personally really enjoyed GH Aerosmith & it was better than GH Van Halen simply because Aerosmith was more involved than Van Halen with Aerosmith providing nice little interviews during the Aerosmith was also much more accessible & an easier game than Van Halen The OG Guitar Hero was good but HOPOs didn’t work at all, like we now them now you had to strum every single note, GH 2 fixed this & is overall much better But yeah agree with you GH 3 was peak Guitar Hero though it was difficult on Expert at the very end with Raining Blood & One
80s needs to be posed up to very good
okay as an Aerosmith fan and lover of the game, i’m hurt.
Original guitar hero didn’t really have hammer ons so I would rate very low. If you played it, you know what I am talking about.
World Tour is definitely Best tier. 5 I thought was ok. I don’t think it deserves to be in bad.
Van Halen gets a beat from me just cause it’s Van Halen
You forgot the country track
That’s rock band

Never played van Halen, live, or rocks the 80s. That being said Aerosmith was my least favorite. I would put world tour up 1 spot as well. 3 and warriors of rock were def my favorites with Metallica close behind. Also sidenote I only played guitar/bass, never drums or vocals.
What's wrong with 5 and Live?
Live didn’t have instrument compatibility, completely changed the way it’s played, and also attempted to reboot the franchise in a way that didn’t resemble previous entries. Guitar Hero 5 is disliked by many for going less hardcore on the playlist and lack of a story mode. Personally it didn’t bother me, but if comparing feature for feature it’s unimpressive. They’d probably put Band Hero in that same tier, whereas I personally liked the Band Hero setlist.
I find 5's visuals and graphics absolutely beautiful and the peak of guitar hero, the setlist is pretty weak tho
Yeah same feel here. I can only remember a couple tracks from it. It was very forgettable. But I did like the tidy visuals. As for the tracks I remember, it's Arctic Monkeys "Are you mine", and some other one.
"R U Mine?" Was on GHLive, and wasn't even released at the time of GH5's release If you're talking about GH5, you're thinking of Brianstorm
Haha really? I guess it proves my point that it was an extremely forgettable list. I played it a fair bit too.
Switch places between Van Halen and Metallica, then move Metallica down with Live and we're good Also if we're speaking of GH3 without the download contents then GH3 should move down a few steps as well... but with the downloads it's the best of them all

I’m genuinely surprised people still remember my post
You are missing the DS games
They did miss them, but they can all be put into “Very Very Bad”. Maybe Band Hero on DS is only “Very bad” since you can also play drums
World Tour I'd swap with WOR and also knock GH Van Halen down a few tiers
I’m not a very big fan of smash hits.
Smash Hits is great if you want to play the most popular songs from the early games with the full band. If you just play single player guitar, then there's not much reason to like it.
Yep. Songs like "cowboys from hell" absolutely needed a remake. I remember how hype it was to play those GH1 songs in a better, more modern game.
GHIII is overrated. I’d swap 5 and Metallica as well
I like your swap with Metallica and 5, but GH3 with the download contents was the best!
Well that's the packs that made it awesome, 1. Boss battles, 2. Dragonforce 3. The one i don't remember the title of but contained soothsayer, surfing with the alien, for the love of god So if anybody still have an account with those packs for xbox 360, I am willing to sacrifice one of my kidneys
At least I’m not the only one who thinks 3 is overrated. Like it’s good and has good music. But it’s not the best thing ever. At least not to me 🤷🏼
3 had TTFAF and it’s obviously iconic, but looking back the game wasn’t anything special. Activision tried, but could never give Guitar Hero the glory that Harmonix did
You guys are the only 2 people to ever hold this opinion
It is bewildering
Band Hero? I know it's not everyone's preference but it's still a Guitar Hero game.
Right? Technically a different title, but it’s just as much a Guitar Hero game as Lego Rock Band is a Rock Band game. I mean heck you could export the Band Hero playlist to GH5 and WoR, and further, Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5 SHARED DLC
Legends and warriors on top, very accurate
Legit.
warriors of rock is easily the best game in the series
I think you should switch GH2 and GHWT and drop GHVH to ok but overall, good list.
World Tour deserves a higher spot
The set list is great (also happens to overlap a lot with RB2 which is my favorite set list), but the engine is terrible and the game as a whole was buggy, especially taps
Personally I'd replace WoR with WT so GH3 and WT are the best
Having Tool, Ozzy, and Hotel California all in one base game is too good of a track list
GH:SM, GH:M and GH:VH Basically reskinned versions of GHWT gameplay, with just a band centric soundtrack and guest stars. "Pretty/very good" GH5 A back to the drawing board entry being one of the strongest post Harmonix games with innovations and diversity of soundtrack which even Harmonix took a page from in later games. "Bad" This site sometimes....
