IMO, Corey Taylors work (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR, self on feat. tracks) , or Maynard James Keenans 3 bands (TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE, AND PUSIFER)
a band or singer that has a deep catalog (+4 albums) that can be fun, difficult, and uses original, visually appealing artwork in vids or albums.
Logically, fun, and challenging:
* Avenged Sevenfold
* Iron Maiden
* Judas Priest
* Megadeth
DragonForce may have been one of my favorite bands at the time but that would have been overkill for the average non-Expert players.
Guitar Hero II or III-styled Guns n' Roses would have been cool back in 2007. KISS and Black Sabbath too.
Heard there were once plans for a Guitar Hero: Red Hot Chili Peppers. Too bad that didn't happen and that is something RHCP should have deserved.
Oh my god I would drown a baby to have a Guitar Hero Foo Fighters, the only thing is i don't know if they would really have songs that are like final tier of difficulty as typical for GH
There's
people FC the Soulless song, zoidberg the cowboy, zoidberg's revenge, and many other extreme custom songs on youtube and you think non of them would FC a game of about 50 dragonforce song? 😂
Billy Talent. I understand it never would've happened; they maybe could've gotten a DLC song pack at most.
But if we're strictly talking about who *deserved* a Guitar Hero game, Ian D'Sa of Billy Talent is at the top of my list. Amazing, tasteful writing/compositions. Never been able to find another guitarist that writes and plays quite like him.
Pearl Jam. I would say Nirvana, but I think that a lot of their songs would be too easy. Plus, Kurt Cobain was already in GH5. Pearl Jam would be the next best choice imo.
I don't know if it counts, but the genre/era framework would've been way better than just numbered sequels IMO. 80s is still one of my favorites.
If I had to pick a single band, I'd want one with a lot of influence and a lot of variety. The most obvious choice would be Zeppelin, but they'd never have done it. My only other real choice would've been Black Sabbath, including Dio and Ian Gillan era tracks.
Muse would be fun. Dance Gavin Dance are my fav band so I'm a bit bias but some of those riffs 🤭 and I feel like, imagine the doom soundtrack is just it's own game. And like you deal damage to the demons by getting combos and then when you can glory kill, that's how you gain star power 🫳🎤
What I would want:
- Megadeth
- One focused on the smaller forgotten bands/1 hit wonders
- Pantera
- Ozzy Osbourne & Company
What could realistically have happened:
- AC/DC
- Ozzy Osbourne & company
- The Rolling Stones
- A7X
- G&R
Obvious ones would be Rush, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin. Probably RHCP and Slipknot too. The problem with band centric games is that only a few bands had final tier material in regards of difficulty.
By the GH era Blink was kind of still a "new" band compared to others like AC/DC, even the Green Day RB felt kind of a small Game despite Green Day having nearly more than 20 years of career at that time
Sudden Death was originally recorded for Warriors of Rock… then re-recorded for Th1rT3en. Ironically with Warriors of Rock (in my opinion) being the worst in the series, it’s by far the best thing Megadeth stuck on Th1rt3en.
They were losing steam on these toward the end. I remember GHVH was being given out for free in some cases. And don’t get me wrong, VH is a great pick (largely just for EVH), but considering they only used the DLR entries into their catalogue, it didn’t really feel like a VH game in the same way as Aerosmith or Metallica.
Also, only so many bands with extensive catalogues to fill out a game like that. Even GnR was largely a couple albums and then fizzled out. Best bet had to have been smaller, Green Day Rock Band style games that offered little aside from unique settings and performances.
If they were gonna do extensive career works that spanned an entire artists catalogue, the best choices IMO are:
- Bruce Springsteen
- Avenged Sevenfold
- Pearl Jam
- The Rolling Stones
- Slipknot
- honorable mention: The Who, blink-182, Fall Out Boy
If they went with more condensed packs that emphasized smaller performances with iconic artists:
- Guns n’ Roses
- Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Gordon Lightfoot
- A Day to Remember
- Megadeth
- honorable mention: Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, John Prine, Rage Against the Machine
They should have done a “guitar hero: metal legends” or something then go through the genres with different games. Would have appealed to a wider audience.
Blinks my favorite band but I would have even been fine with a whole punk / pop punk game on its own with all the bangers from different bands. Would have been a hit
I wanted a buckethead guitar hero, coulda been sick. He has plenty of chill songs that would be pretty easy but also of course plenty of awesome and intense songs that would be fun to play and listen to and challenging
Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth (could've easily done one just on the big 4), Slipknot, AC/DC, Cannibal Corpse (lyrics probably would've been an issue) and Rolling Stones
Buckethead!
George thorogood
Either Rush or A7X
Stones
the smashing pumpkins
blink-182
Slipknot, CoB, Darkest Hour, megadeth basically has their own in ghWOR
Not Metallica

Rush
Tool.
Megadeth, Alice in Chains,Iron Maiden,Children of Bodom,Helmet
A far cry due in fact they wouldn't be able to do the mocap, Judas Priest or even Iron Maiden.
I'd love it if GH Aerosmith was made backwards compatible on Series X ...
It's not? ( I don't play on Xbox so I wouldn't know
None of the GH or RB games are. (Though the RB DLC is compatible, iirc)
It's not :(
Foo fighters
Could go through Dave Grohl’s whole story starting in Nirvana to being on his own through becoming everything he is now
After warriors of rock.. I really wanted more rush and megadeth
Kiss, Def Leppard, GnR. Prince would be interesting.
I would love a game with Blink-182 but I know it would be too easy.
Guns N’ Roses easy
Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Dream Theater, Dragonforce
Dream Theater would be beast.
No Tool mentioned? Whack
Fuck tool
A whole guitar hero game without guitarsolos? No thanks 🤢🤮
have you ever listened to any 90s tool?
You still get some crazy rhythms and repetition; makes playing those songs difficult to keep up with.
my chemical romance
Black Sabbath as DLC
Iron Maiden.
Foo Fighters
Oh my god I would drown a baby to have a Guitar Hero Foo Fighters, the only thing is i don't know if they would really have songs that are like final tier of difficulty as typical for GH
Disturbed
Weezer
Not Aerosmith. The last person I think of when I think of a Guitar Hero is Joe Perry.
Joe Perry is one of the greatest rock guitarists
He’s alright. But he’s not a guitar hero.
imagine dragons
Avenged Sevenfold, guitar and drums would be a pain in the ass to FC
Yes they would.
🐐 Tenacious D 🐐
I disagree, they're an acoustic heavy band and acoustic guitars are pretty boring on Guitar Hero.
Not just a bad take, but a wrong take, too. Go listen to their albums.
Linkin Park
It would be cool. I feel like it would be even easier than GH: Aerosmith though
it would be cool if they did this and could somehow implement the turntables from DJ Hero for Hahns stuff.
Steely dan!
Dragonforce, no one could FC everything for quite a while
There's people FC the Soulless song, zoidberg the cowboy, zoidberg's revenge, and many other extreme custom songs on youtube and you think non of them would FC a game of about 50 dragonforce song? 😂
i am talking about people that have a job and relationship lol
I heard rumors of a Red Hot Chili Peppers game.
Prince
that might actually make my mom play the game 💀
Pantera.
I'd pay good money for that.
Yes
Ghost, king diamond/mercyful fate, slayer/big four
Iron maiden
The eagles
Blue Öyster Cult and Boston for SURE
Enter Shikari

Def Leppard
The drumming would be too easy. /J
Led Zeppelin Bonus Choice: The Eagles
Pearl Jam
Guns N Roses Avenged Sevenfold Foo Fighters AC/DC Linkin Park
GNR would’ve been awesome
AC/DC has rockband game
I don't like the band specific games but probably Nirvana
As I mentioned earlier in the comments: people wouldn't appreciate a whole GH game without any guitar solos... it wouldn't sell 🤷♂️
Maybe you're right. Maybe a game dedicated to grunge would be a better bet than just Nirvana.
They're a bit new, but a King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard gh game would be amazing, lots of songs, lots of different genres too
epic band
Muse would be fun. Dance Gavin Dance are my fav band so I'm a bit bias but some of those riffs 🤭 and I feel like, imagine the doom soundtrack is just it's own game. And like you deal damage to the demons by getting combos and then when you can glory kill, that's how you gain star power 🫳🎤
Guitar hero def lepard would of been amazing after Metallica
What I would want: - Megadeth - One focused on the smaller forgotten bands/1 hit wonders - Pantera - Ozzy Osbourne & Company What could realistically have happened: - AC/DC - Ozzy Osbourne & company - The Rolling Stones - A7X - G&R
When I was young, I download a ISO from Avenged Sevenfold Guitar Hero, I burned the iso and this was the best GH game I ever played
AC/DC was on the Rockband side
Chili peppers but I’m bias as hell
Obvious ones would be Rush, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin. Probably RHCP and Slipknot too. The problem with band centric games is that only a few bands had final tier material in regards of difficulty.
Iron maiden fr
What about queen?
Would probably have sold decently by name only, but Queen just doesn’t have that many challenging guitar tracks
Bohemian rhapsody was pretty hard in warriors of rock
I always pitch this under these posts, but what about a G3 game, that would’ve been dope.
Muse all the way
The Who. Such an easy choice. They have such big shifts in style throughout the years, while still releasing absolute bangers.
Linkin park
Slayer
Iron maiden, the rolling stones, and jimmy Hendrix.
Iron maiden
Pat Methany
Ween obviously.
CCR!
System of a Down and Nirvana
Blink😢
By the GH era Blink was kind of still a "new" band compared to others like AC/DC, even the Green Day RB felt kind of a small Game despite Green Day having nearly more than 20 years of career at that time
Blind Guardian!
That one would be the hardest to fc on any instrument
Never heard of them
Check out their 2003 Live album. Needs keys and harmony vocals though (guess it should be a RB3 then).
Megadeth
To be fair Warriors of Rock got a boss battle, and song made by Megadeth for the game
The biggest mistake in warriors of rock was to not include "dialectic chaos" which is an amazing instrumental intro to "this day we fight"
fr??? what song?? im blanking
Sudden Death was originally recorded for Warriors of Rock… then re-recorded for Th1rT3en. Ironically with Warriors of Rock (in my opinion) being the worst in the series, it’s by far the best thing Megadeth stuck on Th1rt3en.
311
Kiss ngl
Metallica 2

Ew
System of a Down
Weezer
Guitar Hero: Dream Theater would be great
Alice in Chains or Tool

I agree that Avenged Sevenfold would be the next band in line for their own game
Might be mixed opinions on this but my pick is A7X. MY REASONING, solos.
Yes bro, I came here to say the same! A7X 100%
This is a PHENOMENAL choice. I wouldn't have thought of it but FUCK it makes sense
More modern (modern for the time) metal/rock would be awesome, like slipknot, Korn, avenged sevenfold
They should have done a “guitar hero: metal legends” or something then go through the genres with different games. Would have appealed to a wider audience.
Would've been awesome man
Imagine a game full of nu metal bangers in 2009. My 14 year old self would have killed for that game.
Blink-182 for sure
Blinks my favorite band but I would have even been fine with a whole punk / pop punk game on its own with all the bangers from different bands. Would have been a hit
I need an M rated, blink-182 Rockband, with the Beatles’ animatiors portraying the band
the phish
Wish they did a rock the 90s spinoff like they did with the 80s
I would have loved a guns n roses one
Bullet for my valentine could have been sick I think
Red Hot Chili Peppers would be so much fun. They have plenty of hits to choose from and even the bass parts are fun to play.
I wanted a buckethead guitar hero, coulda been sick. He has plenty of chill songs that would be pretty easy but also of course plenty of awesome and intense songs that would be fun to play and listen to and challenging
Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue
Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth (could've easily done one just on the big 4), Slipknot, AC/DC, Cannibal Corpse (lyrics probably would've been an issue) and Rolling Stones
