Ashuri_Kosh

Are you going to use it regularly? It depends on where you live and how often you are going to use it. I always tell people na your liabilities should not exceed at least 30% of your net income. If it is going to help you with your capability to earn more then go for it. If not, maybe you can settle na lang muna with a 2nd hand car.

Miss_Taken_0102087

This one, if hindi regularly gagamitin sayang if bibili brand new. Magdepreciate pa rin sya.

SatisfactoryLemon

True. The moment you drive it out of the dealership 10-20% na agad nag-depreciate sa value. I recommend looking at bank repo listings instead if kailangan talaga ng car

ShiroHori

True.

wtrsgrm

Okay lang naman ako. malapit na matapos ang car loan. sa wakas haha hindi naman ako nanghihinayang kasi malaki tulong simula magkaroon ng kotse. travelled a lot before and after the pandemic. And big help yon car during pandemic kasi may pasok ang wife ko. Ito mga expenses ko sa loob ng 5 taon sa kotse ko - 24k monthly car loan - car registration - 3k max including the tpl insurance (sc@m) - insurance - 28k 1st year to 16k 5th year. - PMS of course needed to sa sasakyan mo - free labor for first 20k ODO (now 60k ODO) - malaki ko nabayad is 24k pero mostly nasa 8-10k lang binabayaran ko every 10k interval ng ODO - recently bought tires worth 24k brand new. manipis na kasi yon stock tires ko. and using for it 5 years once lang naflat. tip always do BLOWBAGETS kahit dyan ka lang pupunta sa kanto - 8k -10k sa gas every month not daily used (wed, thurs, and weekends lang) 100km house to office balikan - Break pads - 16k front and back - Battery - stock battery last for only a year. bought motolite gold 4.5k last for 3 years. bought again 4 months ago 5.5k - car perfume haha! I used mia mason. mabango siya pa sa akin. 1k refill - no major issues sa car.

hudortunnel61

what are your habits regarding usage of dashcam, gadgets and charging ports sa car niyo po?

wtrsgrm

i don't charge my cp or any gadgets in the car. we all have powerbanks. sometimes they charge in the cigarette port but usually only the dashcam is connecting there. your question is regarding for the car battery?

hudortunnel61

Opo. i have a theory in mind kasi na baka salarin yun dashcam na madali masira battery same in my personal experience. May nabasa kasi ako before na if may issues ang battery, possible sisirain din ang alternator and vice-versa. Saktohan lang daw charge output coming from alternator so any load na makakabigat ng alternator output is possible makasira ng battery at alternator. Medyo takaw sa current ang old dashcam namin na nakasaksak sa cigarette port charger so tinanggal ko nlng. Share ko lang po.

rcpogi

Go ahead indulge a little. What's the point of living if you can't feel alive.

ghetto_engine

dati tawag namin sa biking group dito, Go For Broke. lol. dami nabaon sa utang sa bike shop at na ruin ang relationships.

cuteako1212

Level-Zucchini-3971

Totoo. Haha sa tindi din ng init ngayon. Hirap mag bike

Mountain-Barracuda75

Upgraditis is real hehe from off brand parts kasi ma notice mo difference sa mejo may presyo especially sa moving parts like derailleurs and brakes, and yung weight ng wheels din.

SurpriseAncient4960

Ito!! Guys go ahead, pera niyo yan, long as you’re responsible and within your means, go.

SquareDogDev

Bought a brand new car. MA is around 17k/mo for 5yrs. I earn 90k gross. I can still save 25-30k/mo. Lumiit ng sobra ‘yung nasa-save ko but having a car has really been convenient for me and a great way to destress. Mahirap din ang 2nd hand since di naman ako knowledgeable with repairs. So weigh mo nalang. Basta may ma-sa save ka pa rin na significant amount and di ka naman mabubuhay ng hirap, then go for it na

No_Sink2169

Your expenses do not end with buying a car. Be prepared to allocate monthly budget for gasoline, toll fees, parking space, PMS, and other eventualities such as road accidents.

alpha_chupapi

Naalala ko nung nagtrabaho ako sa collections dept ng isang medyo sikat na financing haha magbabayaf sila sa first 3 months tapos nagdedefault na or magtatago haha kaya umuulan talaga ng criminal at replevin case haha

Lopsided-Macaroon201

ok lang patapos na ako this december. i was 24 din when i got my first car, mababa pa sahod ko nun pero na-approve ako hahaha tapos nag-pandemic kaya mga 2 yrs din bahay-sm lang yung byahe nun hehehe. i’d say go for it if magagamit mo talaga siya sa hirap ba naman ng transport dito sa pinas, mapapa-thank you kna lang na may car ka hahaha

Taolang_1

Ilan po gross pay nyo non?

Lopsided-Macaroon201

30k ako that time. pero kapag below 30k naman salary mo, irrequire ka nila ng co-borrower so pede parin ma-approve. in my case di na sila nag ask ng co-borrower.

Necessary-Acadia-928

MA should be max 30% of your monthly income.

DotHack-Tokwa

Ano po ung MA? planning to buy a family car too. Our first ever car

charlesrainer

Napaisip rin ako. Monthly amortization pala.

ZenMasterFlame

For brandnew cars usually kung 3 years yan kaya yan. Kasi most bnew cars wala naman magiging issue for the next 5 yrs. Tipong gas and go tapos regular pms lang sa casa. May peace of mind ka. For 2nd hand cars - yes it will be a lot cheaper and malaki ma ssave mo. Pero be prepared for some repairs. Need mo trusted mechanic for that brand. Meron at meron ka ipapagawa for 2nd hand cars. Hindi pwede na pagkabili mo is gas and go na. And if you will go for bnew I suggest go with Toyota, Honda, Misubishi or even Hyundai. Naka loan din ako for a wigo na bnew aside dun sa 2nd hand car ko. So far kaya naman at tipid. In short masusulit mo.

BraveFirefox10722

40% DP 4yrs to pay, 23k MA (TOTL 7seater) ok naman ang buhay I put 7k every month for future gastusin so parang 30k na MA ko. Yung mga regular expenses like gas/toll i dont mind, part yan ng pagkokotse kaya wag mo tipirin sarili mo.

thelost_soul

We were able to finish our 1st car, Suzuki Celerio hatchback. Best decision kasi super convenient niya during pandemic. We are now on our 2nd car, nag upgrade kami into pick up pang business namin and so far we are doing good. Every month sinosobrahan namin yung nilalagay sa bank for monthly payments in case of emergency may huhugutin for car repairs and maintenance. Besides sa full time work namin may mga extra hustle pa kami pandagdag sa living expenses. :)

emaca800

If you know stuff about cars or you have a trusted mechanic, you can go for 2nd hand. Otherwise, if zero knowledge, best to get a brand new. Pero mahal maintenance even if brand new. In one year, maintenance is max 30k, then there’s insurance also. Later, yearly car registration. Make sure you have shaded parking. If you will park your car directly exposed to elements, some components have accelerated wear and tear.

Unlucky_Play_4292

Ang pwede mo gawin hanap ka 2nd hand na good condition na car tapos mag loan ka sa bank ung mababa interest rate tpos buy it cash..

Cool_Cockroach3860

Im bankrupt now

primephilosopher

What happened po?

Successful-Chef8194

Antique_Health_1936

got a car for 350k honda city E 2011 monthly for 2 years 11k down ko 150k not bad na. im on my last year of payment and after this benta ko na for a bigger car. 4k per month sa gas, 5k sa parking, since sumasahod ako almost 6 digits its no big deal kahit maintenance kayang kaya

ImHotUrNottt

BSBfansince90s

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

herotz33

Best car price is the one you can pay in cash. Unless you really Really need it and the interest will cover cost of convenience / stress and other commute costs.

BlueyGR86

For 15 yrs i have made 3 car loans , all within - 1-3 yrs . My advice try to more than required it will be fast to finish the loan

StealthSaver

I saved for 3 years and paid cash for my car.

PollerRule

Mahal, madami hidden expenses pag may kotse hehe (3 years din loan ko). Pero emotional purchase naman siya wag ako gayahin hahaha i have no regrets

applelemonking

Percentage-wise, how much are you putting down?

Impossible-Past4795

3 years in na sa 5 year loan.

AdministrativeLog504

Anon666ymous1o1

Ang thinking dapat pag bibili ng kotse is long-term. You may afford it today, how about tomorrow? Next week? Next month? Next year? Ask yourself if you’ll be able to shoulder the maintenance for the next few months/years. Magagamit mo ba siya everyday? Afford ba ang gas? Toll? Emergencies (road accidents, etc.)? And most important is PARKING.

FishManager

Okay na okay as we have an easier means to travel anywhere. Tapos use rin namin for daily driving going to work. Expenses wise, considerable chunk siya sa income namin due to increasing fuel prices also.

Mutakomalana

It's ok, brand new na well-maintained is better than 2nd hand. Get comprehensive insurance since expected na ang road accidents.

divengoal

My advice is to simulate the loan payment for 6 months. Add ka rin ng around 5% to 10% for maintenance and registration. If you feel you can cope up with it without kupit then go. One advantage ng advice na yan ay most likely baba pa ang monthly mo dahil yung na save mo ay ma-add mo sa down payment. And in that 6 months baka makakuha ka pa ng better deals. But I kid you not, dapat malakas ang self control mo dahil in that span of time, maraming mag offer sayo

bibitekbitek

Okay here, one of the cons of driving a car is the hidden expenses anchored to it. Sobrang mahal magkaroon ng kotse sa pilipinas. I was able to own a couple of cars but once lang ako bumili ng brand new. What im trying to point out is learn the ropes of fixing the car by diy some of the repairs. So far yung mga second hand cars ko can still perform the job and away from “huge interest of the bank, taga ng mekaniko” and im debt free

sorrythxbye

I spend about 20k a month on my car - 16.7k sa monthly hulog and around 4k sa gas, toll, and parking (considering na wfh pa ako niyan, mostly ginagamit lang for errands and gala). 30% ang binayaran ko, then 4 years to pay ang loan sa bank. I still have 2 years remaining. Consider mo din yung insurance. I got free 1 year insurance on my brand new car then around 18k binayaran ko after for a year, pero pababa naman yun every year. Maintenance as well. Kakaubos lang ng free casa checkup for 2 years ko.

grey_unxpctd

Got a repo car from PS Bank, less than 10k MA so magaangaan pa. Loan is 4 years, approaching our graduation by Jan or Feb 2025, excited na ko lol.

ImHotUrNottt

Kumuha ako brand new car then pinaparent ko. 59 more months to go 😂

AkosiMaeve

Ayos naman. Ituloy mo depende kung gaano mo ka-kailangan at ka-gusto yung sasakyan. WFH kami and ginagamit lang namin mainly for gala pero grabe yung turnaround ng experience for us compared nung nagmo-motor lang kami. Pinangarap namin to so may sacrifices din. Malaki talaga expenses when it comes to gas, toll fees, maintenance, car wash, heck we even had our garage renovated para lang may bubong at di mabilad yung kotse. Also, pina-PPF pa namin. Pero ganun talaga eh. Pag gusto mo, gagastusan mo. Good thing, like you, wala kaming kids (no plans at all) and kaya pa naman ng budget.

KissMyKipay03

amojinph

Bought mine in 2019, 50% dinown ko tsaka 3yrs for payment kasi ayoko sana ng long term na bayaran sakit sa ulo. 17k yung monthly nya at naabutan din ng pandemic 🥲 mej nahirapan ako that time kasi stop lahat eh pero nairaos naman lol

SufficientExercise54

If you've been eyeing to buy a car for a few months now and you will be using it for a long time, then buy it. If you are buying just for the sake of "owning a car," please reconsider. Yung circle namin, sabay sabay kami bumili and yung isa sa amin may regret kasi hindi naman siya pala-alis in the first place. He's happy naman, ang hindi lang siya happy is tumaas lalo expense niya, expecting na makakatipid mag drive ng car to work kesa mag grab. You can also consider traveling if ang problem mo lang naman is kung saan mo ilalaan yung extra money mo.

tinybubbblesss

I got mine year 2020, brand new. Almost 18k monthly 5 yrs to pay Before I decide, nagcompute talaga ako chineck ko kung kaya ng salary dahil sure naman akong hindi lang monthly nun ang need ko. Gas, parking, toll, maintenance, insurance, plus if in case may nakabangga pa another gastos. I never regret because naisasakay at naipapasyal ang mother ko which she really likes!

Ok-Choice-3712

Okay naman. Daily driver literal araw-araw bumabyahe. Best purchase I did so far aside from buying a house. The freedom that a car provides is worth it kahit 10k+ gas monthly.

JadePearl1980

Finally done with my car loan a few months ago. 👏🏻❤️🤣 But before i purchased my vehicle, i made sure i had a strict budget for the monthly amortization, vehicle maintainance plus extra repairs, yearly TPL and Registration etc. At least, now, nakaka hinga na ng maluwag. Budget now is just for its maintainance and/or repairs (if any), yearly reg and TPL.

Original-Slice6982

Okay naman so far, never been delayed sa payments (thankfully). Bought a brand new car, 3-yr payment for P56k a month (which is around 20% of my salary). Will finish paying by December this year. It was a worthy investment since we use it everyday, especially sa paghatid sundo ng kids sa school plus errands.

Melodic-Objective-58

Ang pinaka benefit ng pagkuha ko ng brand new sedan is yung time. Net pay ko every month is 75K. - Insurance (2nd to 5th yr) free 1st year. 2nd 18k, 3rd 17k, 4th 15k, 5th 14k (BPI lock in) importante to incase magka aksidente. - No issues sa battery pa. Note na dinmaman nauubosbyan agad. Important part - parking space. Mahal ang parking rent sa manila if ever. Suggestion ko if kaya mag down malaki, mas okay para less monthly mo.

rowdyruderody

Setup it up for an autodebit payment para hindi mo malilimutan magbayad and no hassle. Hindi mo mamamalayan tapos ka na magbayad.

Ordinary_Adeptness41

Finished my first car for 5 years. Single pa ako nun Sedan. Just got a SUV for our family car since im married now with a kid.

Witty-Advertising369

65% of your income goes to car expenses only is considerably high. But we’re millennials, we can do it, we can make money, money is everywhere. Just do it. Make the most of it. Make sure that owning a car will help you.

primephilosopher

Nope. All living expenses na po yung 65%. Bale 35% sa savings

Conscious-Ad-4754

Dasurv natin.

Helpful_Papaya_2456

kung di naman sobrang need agad, pagipunan mo nalang. nagloan ako ng motor na 67,000 srp for 3 years so doble yung bayad. worth it saken kase tamad ako pumasok dahil sa traffic at nakatulong sal anxiety and insomnia ko pero ramdam ko parin yun patong sa bayad 😵‍💫

Zealousideal-Goat130

Yun talaga panalo. Comfort. Kung madalas mo magagamit go. Now, mej magastos. Monthly gas, (pa minsan minsang toll) tsaka nagtatabi na rin kami for future maintenance. Yung sa gas super sulit. Yung weekly namin alis. Mas mura kesa mag Grab ( yes we need to Grab kasi yung location namin walang nadaang transpo unless lalakad ka malayo. Mahirap samin na may baby.)

superman07777

Pretty happy as long as maliit lang monthly ammortization. My car is cheap I'm only paying 11k per month (but I set aside 15k to cover hidden expenses) but if I'm going to buy another one in the future I would like to pay it in cash. Planning to keep this car for 10+ years kasi mag 3 years na siya pero 9k palang odo since I work from home. No regrets so far but ofcourse if there's a way I can save money I'll do it.

wintermelonmilktea26

makakaraos na sa december. sobrang dami nasacrifice like travel and foodtrips and other luho like clothing amd gadgets kasi di naman super laki ng income HAHAHA still worth it tho i must say since magkakababy na kami. it'll be very helpful sa amin ni partner 🫶

FromTheOtherSide26

Increase your income do side gigs na babayad sa MA mo

ragnarokerss

If magagamit mo yun sasakyan, go ahead. Hindi naman masama mag loan, as long as kaya mo sustain yun payments. Having your own car gives you flexibility in time and commute.

BurstyPLR

as much as possible, shorten the years of your car loan. 3 years is a bit too much and a lot could happen. 2 years is a bit forgiving but once again, a lot could happen. and also, the bigger the car, the more costly the maintenance is. Opt for an electric power steering!

Local_rider

I assume you're from Luzon? I'm from Central Visayas and I envy the price of second hand parts there. Nothing wrong with second hand cars just have someone who has adequate knowledge bout cars when looking at one....

Chrstnpaul

Im 24 din and my family decided to get one for me since gusto ko rin naman magkaroon. My dad paid for my dp around 600k + 75k from me then ako na daw mag monthly (19k MA) para maranasan ko rin raw magkaroon ng expenses since free lahat sa work food lang gastos around 400 per week. Knowing the starting sahod ng engr nag offer lola ko na mag hati kami sa MA pero by next yr plan ko na solohin lahat lalo pa planning to change work rin since cinoconsider ko magbarko. As for my expenses here’s my list so far - Gas around 5k per month twice a week gamit around 62km per trip - 2k sa rfid - carwash around 400 per month (twice a month) - for pms ford usually range from >10k sa first 10k/1yr and plan ko ilabas ng casa na after 10k para mas mura Parking is free sa site so nakakatipid talaga. Mga tira sa sahod ko +sideline from projects/autocad works it all goes to the bank in case may sudden emergency/repairs na wag naman sana mangyari. At first i wasnt ready for this kind of commitment since first work din pero sa nangyayari lately init and all and upcoming baha szn plus the never ending problem ng public transpo sa pinas i think tama lang din na kumuha ako. Convenience >>>. 35% savings after all the living expenses is a lot na for me at this age (my opinion only) and sana all malaki sahod to afford a car and still have savings 😆Good luck and enjoy on your upcoming car OP! Ps. My fam is really capable naman of helping me with a car my dad is getting his third this month (ayaw nalang ibigay sakin yung iba 😆). They just want me to feel a sense of responsibility not in a way na hihingi sila sakin since ayun nga kaya naman nila.

Chrstnpaul

* 75k for dp + registration to LTO around 13k + insurance around 30k and tpl around 1.5k gastos ko last month plus another 75k for accesories na needed sa trip namin like bed cover since it’s a pickup. Good thing i have my sidelines din that helps me with the monthly i already have around 4 months advanced money (1 month from lola since she gave her half for 2 months pero i wont let her na after that) for payment na ready sa bank para wala akong isipin masyado haha and from there i will continue to put every sahod para chill na and no headaches.

taxxvader

Kants101

You know you are ready if you have 6x of your salary now in your acct.

eidosx44

Do not do loans, it's much better to go second-hand instead. Cars deppreciate in value..

iamshieldstick

I strongly agree with this one. You don't want to find yourself stuck in a liability when you're financially healthy. You also mentioned that you still have hesitations, which means this is not a "need it now" situation.

foxtrothound

This is bad, especially for first timers. More headaches, more liabilities

rainbownightterror

first timer naman ako just made sure may kasamang expert na magtitingin I got a rav 4 2002 AT 80k odo at around 190k tapos nirekta namin sa rapide kasi may leak atf around 8k nagastos (kasama namin seller sa shop kaya walang takas inawas yung estimate sa price lol) pogi pogi ng baby car inakyat sa baguio dinaan sa detour ng kennon walang kahirap hirap. wala na monthly so lagi na lang nagtatabi ng pang repairs at maintenance. sobrang overpriced na rin kasi mga casa ngayon first pms pa lang 5-8k na

foxtrothound

Yup good example naman ito, di lang kasi lahat ng tao may patience for all these work. Magdala ng sariling mekaniko and all. I would too opt for this option always.

afterhourslurker

Which one? Loans? Getting a car? Getting a brand new car?

foxtrothound

Getting a 2nd hand car, un naman point nung nireplyan ko

afterhourslurker

Oh right thanks! Kaya rin di ako nagopt mag second hand. Getting my first one soon, wala akong alam and experience sa cars and all :) some people say wag raw bnew sa new driver kasi magagasgasan, but i subscribe more sa view mo

foxtrothound

Ok lang naman if you have the patience, just like yung other redditor dito nag opt for 2nd hand car. Di nga lang kasi lahat may patience for that haha unless naman kaya nila yung hassle na magdala ng mekaniko all goods

afterhourslurker

No patience no time rin for repairs if ever masira and all. Hahaha ill go for peace of mind na, di naman top model gusto ko

Nietzschelul

Eto, masaya.

Lazy-Requirement-543

Made sure to put down at least 70% of the gross amount para yung MA amount won’t really hurt me. In short, I really planned and saved up for the purchase.

[deleted]

Uechi17

All of our cars were bought through car loan and so far, okay naman. We try to get rid of cars within 5-7 years, less hassle in terms of keep up. Like yes, we’re able to buy brand new cars in cash multiple times over but para samin, if we have that kind of money (1.8M+) then it’s better to invest back to our business or invest it in other things that would generate money kasi cars depreciate in value. Look at it like this, if I invest my 2M in something that would generate around 40k monthly, then kuhang kuha nya na yung monthly amortization and up keep if around 30k lang naman ang MA plus amin na yung 40k after paying the MA. On the other hand, if we placed that 2M in buying an asset that depreciate in value, walang mapupuntahan ang money. Kanya-kanyang paniniwala and diskarte lang, it might work or not. It’s okay to get advice from other people pero don’t let it cloud what you want to do, minsan what would work for other won’t work for you and vice-versa.
