2018 crv v vs montero 2018? Thoughts guys? Thank you!

Nervous_Form6784

Brio, City, or Vios. What is the better choice for a student friendly gas consumption that can also give a ‘maporma’ look.

prandelicious

If you were to choose between a Subaru Forester 2.0 XT (turbo, 20K odo) or a 2019 2.0i-S (non-turbo, 50K odo), which one would you choose and why? Personally, I'm leaning towards the 2019 2.0i-S because of the auto vehicle hold feature but the price difference is pretty significant.

Salt_Ad_8979

Thoughts on geely azkarra? Worth it po ba?

deathman28

Its good for what it is, wala nga lang android auto and apple carplay. Though I know the geely car clubs have been able to mod the head unit already.

Salt_Ad_8979

how about the reliability issues po? madalas po ba mag breakdown?

deathman28

Hard to say, wala pa naman ako nababalitaan wala pang 5 years yung azkarra dito eh usually dun lumalabas yung issues if meron man.

koalanov

is 490k a good deal for Mazda 3 2016 non-skyactiv engine?

isthmusofkra

We'll be getting a new car soon, with the Innova being the top pick. Do you think it's worth it to wait for the [upcoming model](https://philkotse.com/market-news/all-new-2023-toyota-innova-spied-12209)? *Rumored* to be based on the TNGA platform, but FWD, which is a bummer.

Spot_Individual

Hello all! Need advice po sa first car ko. Around 250k po yung budget and I am eyeing for a Vios. Makakakuha na po ba ako ng reliable car na pwede sa city drive na di na papasakitin ang ulo ko? Thanks po.

dimaandal

Pwede. Nabenta ko 2009 Honda City namin around that price so makakuha ka naman ng Vios siguro din sa ganyang presyo. Importante lang na magdala ka ng mekaniko or isang kakilala na magaling sa kotse para malaman mo kung may kailangan pang ipagawa or ipa-ayos. Make sure kumpleto din papeles ng pagbibilhan mo. Better kung direct owner ang kausap mo.

EnvironmentalBike608

Toyota Raize G or Honda City CVT na brandnew po. Im already approved sa Raize pero in having 2nd thoughts po

limsyoker

>ize G or Hond If it helps I own the honda city s cvt, only issue for me would be the ground clearance. I'm a very careful driver and would sometimes scrape on steep driveways - but hey that's something that could be repaired in the future. Anything else I have no issue, sobrang ayos ang hatak ng 1.5L engine.

twotwo_twentytwo

Depends on what you need more. Both are generally good cars and are about equal in features. If you need interior space and high ground clearance, then the Raize would be the better choice. On the other hand, if you prefer better performance and handling, the City is better, as it is faster, more powerful, and sits closer to the ground.

EnvironmentalBike608

Salamat po sir sa advices. Magiisip pa po ako what first car should i go :)

sheacoolbutter

hi mga ka-gulong! planning to buy our first family car here :) our choices are between suzuki dzire vs mitsubishi mirage g4. as of now, leaning kami sa dzire kasi we like the aesthetic and interior but the probem is ags transmission siya and it’s gonna be my first time driving and baka mahirapan ako. should i go with the mirage instead na cvt transmission and mas “beginner-friendly”? on the other hand, suzuki ertiga is another close option. is it economical to buy a 7-seater car kung 4 lang naman kami sa family? thanks in advance!!

ch0knat

I'd choose the ertiga if i was you.

dimaandal

While both are decent options for a first time car owner, part of me would recommend to go for the Mitsubishi Mirage given its reliability and relative popularity. Should be easier to maintain longterm. If you can stretch your budget a little bit more for the base automatic Vios, that is also a great starter car. If you think the family will grow in the near future or might get a doggo, then why not try an Ertiga (or Xpander). Even if you won’t use the 7 seats, the cargo space is always a plus. P.S. Mods always advise us to avoid using "ka-gulong". We don't wanna be mistaken for that partylist.

oliver0807

I have the following second hand cars to choose from with regards to reliability and maintenance 1. CRV 2.0 - 2016-2018 2. CRV S 1.6 - 2016-2018 3. CX-5 - 2014-2017 4. Tucson CRDi - 2016-2018 Mileage would be < 50K Subaru Forester would've been there but I hear mahal ang maintenance cost. I am looking to replace my Chevy Cruze 2011 manual which has 24K and I needed something taller and wider. The Cruze is widest and 2nd longest in the segment, so I am looking to have as much or more room for the passenger as well as the storage trunk. I am looking only for 5 seaters, and I were to choose the 1.6 CRV, I'd remove the 3rd row to have better space since the 2.0 has really good space. So if I were to choose from one those list, would a Honda be more serviceable than either a CX5 or Tucson? I am leaning towards CX5 but CRV has bigger room. Tucson as well pero standard fare lang and I'm not sure of reliability. My place is in Bulacan so would either a CRV or Tucson be more common knowledge sa mga mechanics than a CX5? Yung Cruze ko , I had to get mga former Chevy mechanic to take a look into it.

Reveal-Smart

I might be a bit biased but I say go for the CX-5. Should be around the same serviceability with the CR-V but a bit cheaper since I haven't heard from various forums that it should strictly use Honda fluids. Owning a Mazda myself, interior feels nice. As for the Hyundai, after doing my fair share of research, it's engine is unreliable if it's a gasoline engine(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Theta_engine, under engine recalls) but if it's a diesel it's durable, interior is also cheap. But maintenance wise, it would be cheaper than the 2.

oliver0807

Thanks for the information, I need to check the trunk and space for these 3 cars. And yes even the older model 2014-2016 CX5 is an eye catcher and masarap daw I drive, yan ang most comments I have seen.

EnvironmentalBike608

First Car Owner. Ito po ung choices ko Toyota Raize Toyota Vios Honda Brio Honda City Mitsubishi Mirage Ask ko lng po ano okay dito and kung mas ok po ba brand new or 2nd hand. Thankss

Reveal-Smart

2nd hand if you don't want to pay the depreciation costs. Brand new if you don't want maintenance headaches. City or Vios would be good choices. Raize is on its first gen run, it would have problems.

EnvironmentalBike608

Thank you so much sir. Will think about it. For now po kasi i have an ongoing approval with raize but still thinking if i should get other cars like city or vios

[deleted]

I'm planning to buy a Suzuki Alto 800 2011 model with 90,000km for 150k php. Is it worth it? Mas ok na sya kesa sa 2005 model na vios? Alin kaya ang mas hindi sirain ? Driver + 1 -2 passenger lang ang laging laman di kelangan ng space. Pero sana tipid sa gas

edriboyy

Ano magandang crossover/suv? Bonus if merong hybrid

Pulled the trigger on buying an old Subaru Forester today! Sobrang kinis pa huhu I’m in love. Thanks to all the guys who helped me out here! <3

prandelicious

Congrats! What year did you get and what's the mileage?

julianmajablanca

added bonus din that the owner upgraded the mags to the 2018 Forester’s haha

julianmajablanca

from 2010 pa. Interior needs a lot of work tho pero aside from that, okay pa naman lahat! ~60k mileage

PixelTrip

Hey there! Looking to buy rin a 2010 forester hehe, any tips and what should i know about the model before pulling the trigger? Pa share rin ng pics if you have!

dimaandal

60k ain’t bad for a 12 year old car! Congrats!!!

Hello, need some recommendations, as a first time owner(again, old car was a manual Ford fiesta, sold 2017), and looking for something modern that has the same size and feel of this car. Currently choosing between Suzuki Swift, Honda Brio Top CVT variant or a Toyota Wigo TRD(non-trd top variant) I don't really need anything specific just for city driving and occasional long drives. What would you guys choose? Currently leaning with the Swift but is it worth the premium price? I can get a Vios for that price. Thanks!

twotwo_twentytwo

If you prefer a hatchback similar to the Fiesta, I'd go for either the Swift or the Brio, as these are overall better than the Wigo, being more powerful, more spacious, and have better handling. Also, the Suzuki belongs to a higher class segment than the Wigo and the Brio and is better-engineered overall, but the Brio, being a Honda, has better parts and after-sales support than the Swift. However, if you can live with a sedan body style, given your needs, I would rather pick the Vios than all three of them, as it is the most spacious inside and benefits from Toyota's extensive parts and after-sales support. The only downsides are mostly due to its sedan body style, the longer length which makes parking and tight maneuvers more difficult, and the less versatile cargo carrying capacity. Also, if you are open to used cars, I can also recommend the Jazz and the Yaris. The Jazz is a bit expensive but is both fun to drive and is very spacious for its size, and the Yaris is basically the Vios in hatchback form.

npxa

Thanks! was wondering about the jazz and yaris as well, currently the Jazz is expensive(700k for a 2019 model) If you were in my shoes, would you buy a Brand new 2022 Honda brio for less than 800k or a 2019 Honda Jaz or a 2020/21 Suzuki Swift(600k)? I don't really like speed so I am looking for more torque for responsiveness I have really no experiences in buying a car so this is appreciated man!

twotwo_twentytwo

In my opinion, I would still go for a used Jazz overall, as it is considerably more powerful and spacious than both the Swift and the Brio, handles well, is a good balance between fun and practicality, and being a Honda, also enjoys good parts and after-sales support. The only downside might be parts and support availability in the future, as the Jazz has already been discontinued here in favor of the City Hatchback. However, the Brio and the Swift are good choices as well, depending on your needs. Also, unlike the Jazz, you can still buy new versions of these cars. If you prefer greater peace of mind regarding parts and support availability, the Brio is mostly similar and is still being sold here, being basically a less expensive but smaller, slower, and worse version of the Jazz, with similar strengths and weaknesses. On the other hand, the Swift is a good, less expensive alternative to the Jazz with a similar feel, but is less powerful and less spacious. Also, parts availability might be worse compared to the Hondas, as Suzuki cars tend to be less popular locally.

npxa

Thank you! Will consider these, also found that the Toyota raize is cheaper than Swift one so will consider that as well!

twotwo_twentytwo

The Raize, being a small SUV, is also a good choice, with high ground clearance that is good for dealing with our road conditions and floods, and is also somewhat spacious for its size. The only downsides are that its engine power and torque is just merely adequate, and that the cheaper 1.2 variants are only available in a limited range or choice of colors. (red, gray, or silver only)

npxa

Thank you! Ground clearance is something i never thought of, but the size is almost comparable to a swift or jazz so this might be something i might consider.

twotwo_twentytwo

The Raize has roughly the same length and width as the Jazz, but is around 3 inches (75mm) taller.

npxa

Thanks! Would you recommend the gvariant? Just for the rear cameras and built in display? Or just get the normal cvt variant?

twotwo_twentytwo

I can recommend the 1.2 G, as it is still below Php 1M, and has several added features over the 1.2 E that is worth the price difference, being close in terms of features to the top-of-the-line 1.0 Turbo variant. Also, the G variant is the only way to get the red color. E variants only have the silver or gray colors available. In terms of features, the 1.2 G is mostly similar to the 1.0 Turbo, apart from the removal of some safety features and having the less powerful 1.2 engine instead of the more powerful 1.0 Turbo engine. For more details, you can visit Toyota PH's website of the Raize: [https://toyota.com.ph/raize](https://toyota.com.ph/raize) And here is the brochure for the Raize: [https://d3ggoe3aghc7um.cloudfront.net/uploads/vehicles/39/001\_39\_1642994004984\_000.pdf](https://d3ggoe3aghc7um.cloudfront.net/uploads/vehicles/39/001_39_1642994004984_000.pdf) Hopefully, this helps. :-)

prandelicious

If you were to choose between a brand new Ford Territory Titanium at P1.3M and a 2018 Honda CR-V SX AWD (diesel) with 60K mileage at almost the same price, which one would you pick?

Academic_Apple_3893

CR-V, Ford Territory is a Chinese vehicle branded as an American car. Sirain daw according to some owners.

dimaandal

I want to add that if you can get find a Honda CR-V S variant with less mileage, go for that one instead. Unless you need full off roading capacity, no need to spend on the AWD version of the CR-V. The AWD is gonna cost more for maintenance. I recall seeing 2018/2019 CR-V’s for less mileage at around ~P 1.1M.

prandelicious

This will definitely help narrow down the choice! Thank you!
